Please continue to contribute to Arizona’s Catholic Tuition Support Organization (CTSO) and get your dollar-for-dollar credit on your State of Arizona taxes. Arizona Tuition Tax Credit Programs allow taxpayers to direct their tax dollars to help children who want a choice in their education. The Catholic schools in the Diocese of Tucson rely heavily on CTSO. This year Arizona taxpayers can contribute up to $2,213 for those filing jointly and $1,107 for filing single. Students in our Catholic Schools are thriving thanks for your generosity. They are receiving a quality, moral, and faith-based education. Please remember these students and families in your prayers and most importantly, if you have a state tax liability, remember to put CTSO at the top of your giving list. May God bless you and your family during this beautiful season of giving. IC students will return to school on Tuesday Jan. 8, 2019! Reports cards will being going home on Jan. 10, 2019. The Epiphany of the Lord January 6, 2019

GOSPEL MEDITATION - ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE January 6, 2019 The Epiphany of the Lord "Behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying 'Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage.'" How strange to journey so far for perhaps so little. Of course the magi go to the capitol city. Of course they entreat with King Herod. Of course this is where they expect newborn royalty to be. But where is the child? "In Bethlehem of Judea," the scribes say. And so the magi go on to what is yet another Christmas miracle. We don't know where the magi met the Christ Child, but it cannot have been lavish. Perhaps it was the stable. Perhaps it was a small hovel Joseph had found to wait out the census. But it would have been the home of a laborer, worn and threadbare. Here, in this unassuming abode, the magi are still "overjoyed...they prostrated themselves and did him homage." Have you ever gotten to the end of a great work and found the results to be underwhelming? How did you respond? Were you disappointed or elated at God's providence and your upended expectations? The magi journeyed hundreds of miles over treacherous terrain to pay homage to royalty they have seen prophesied in the stars. They encountered an ordinary family displaced from their home. This Sunday, the magi are an example for us. Can we see God in the unexpected? Do we encounter Him in the person who doesn't fit our expectations of propriety? Do we revere Christ's presence in the poor? Or do we expect to meet God only in places of honor and esteem? This week, ask God for the grace to honor Him in the unexpected places and unassuming people. He is waiting for you!

All kings shall ay him homage,

All nations shall serve him.

These items will be fixed and reused to make new rosaries to be given to different ministries and people to use in the community. The Rosary is the biggest spiritual weapon we can use and what better way to help others to learn to use this as well.

National Migration Week 2019 January 6-12, 2019

Building Communities of Welcome

For nearly a half century, the Catholic Church in the United States has celebrate National Migration Week, which is an opportunity for the Church to reflect on the circumstances confronting migrants, including immigrants, refugees, children, and victims and survivors of human trafficking. The theme for National Migration Week 2019 “Building Communities of Welcome” draws attention to the fact that each of our families have a migration story, some recent and others in the distant past. Regardless of where we are and where we came from, we remain part of the human family and are called to live in solidarity with one another.

Loving Father, Protect, we pray, all those forced to leave from their homes

by violence and persecution, guide them to places of shelter and safety, and grant that people migrate always by choice and not by necessity.

Watch over children who migrate alone, protect them from the risks they face all by themselves, help them reach their destination safely,

and reunite them with those from whom they have been separated. Guide all migrants who seek a better life, to new opportunities, and grant them a new beginning.

We beseech you to give each of us the strength and generosity to welcome the stranger and to open our homes to the newcomers, and in doing so to comfort those who are

suffering. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
