This award is given each year by the Elisha Witt Chap- ter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The contest is intended to encour- age and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The student selected must have the quali- ties of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Kaylee described how she has tried to show the qualities of a good citizen with the follow- ing answer: “When people think of making a difference they think someone has to do something major in order to make a dif- ference of impact. However, I do not believe that you have to do anything elaborate to make a difference in your school or community. I have been able to work closely with my peers and people in my community. I have given clothes to the needy, meals to hungry fami- lies, and have helped troubled children succeed in school. Whether I was able to see a major impact, I was able to see a smile and take one less wor- ry away from a hungry person, or one that needed clothes. Life is tough, so if I am able to lift a burden off someone or make them happy then I feel like that is the way I am able to make a difference in my school and community.” Kaylee is a member of var- sity cheerleaders, varsity soft- ball, golf team and the Crooked Creek Christian Church Youth Group. Her hobby is photog- raphy. Those attending the meet- ing were members Janice Bush, Fredia Blackwell, Su- san Hawkins, Faye Reece, Eva Watson and Julie Hol- man; visitors Kaylee , Taylor, Will, John and Donna Isfort, Connie Alexander and Sherry Butler.
