The Sacrament of the Bread of Life is placed in the Tabernacle following the distribution of Holy Communion so that our homebound and infirm members may be united to us when our CM’s visit them. Since the Lord is always present here, this is a most suitable place for adoration & devotion.
The chapel is accessible at all times. The combination is 415. The door will lock safely
behind you.
Here’s a recapitulation of some important parish statistics in 2014: We baptized 20 infants & children We baptized, confirmed, and admitted to Holy Communion 12 catechumens We welcomed 9 candidates into full communion with the Church through a Profession of Faith and Confirmation We confirmed 9 Catholic adults who were completing their initiation into the church after having been baptized as infants. We buried 15 parishioners We united 4 Couples in Holy Matrimony We welcomed 81 families as newcomers to St. Andrew’s 744 parishioners made commitments to various forms of parish service. Our Parish Nurse, Caryl Prati, and a cadre of dedicated CM’s have visited and brought Communion to our many infirm and homebound members on innumerable occasions, to many of whom I have administered the Anointing of the Sick. As 2015 gets underway, I want to wish each and everyone of you a happy, healthy, and spiritually prosperous new year. I pray that this will be the year in which many people return to the full practice of the faith, and that many more will discover for the first time the riches of our Catholic faith. May I ask for your prayers in my eighteenth year of service to you as a pastor. Getting older brings with it many challenges, but many opportunities as well. Together, may we advance in years gracefully.

ATTENTION PARENTS
Children have an opportunity to become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ when their parents are willing to do the following:
Teach their children how to pray
Make Sunday & Holyday Masses a family priority.
See to it that children participate regularly in both Mass and religious education classes.
Model the Catholic faith at home
When children understand that being a Catholic is the way we enjoy the benefits of being followers of Christ, they will likely affirm that way of life when they get older.

PREPARING FOR BAPTISM CLASS
SUNDAY, JAN. 11TH
1PM IN ROOM 4
This is a one session class that is required of all parents who are baptizing a child for the first time. First time godparents are also welcome, but participation is optional. Following this class, parents must contact Father Jack to see if there may be any special circumstances in scheduling the actual baptism. We celebrate baptisms as requested one month in advance, but we do not celebrate baptisms during Lent. Here’s a little preview of some of the things that are covered during the class:
Church law requires only one baptismal sponsor. This individual must be a Catholic who is 18 years of age or over, has been confirmed, and is actively practicing their Catholic faith.
If there are two sponsors (godmother, godfather), both must be confirmed, practicing Catholics.
Parents who have not yet been married in the Catholic Church, need to speak to the Pastor before planning a date for baptism.
At least one parent must be a practicing Catholic in order to baptize and raise a child according to the faith of the Church.
Parents must attend the Mass after which the child is going to be baptized

BUILDING & MAINTENANCE FUND
We instituted the building fund in 2001, just a few weeks following the fateful events of 9/11. Since that time we have been able to significantly improve and expand our parish facilities because of the generous contributions of so many of our parishioners. In more recent years we became the beneficiaries of some extraordinarily generous members, Kathleen Fahey and Melvin & Janie Dancer. The gifts of these good and faithful stewards made it possible for us to build the new Youth Center & Chapel without having to borrow a single dime! We were not surprised at all when regular contributions to the building fund began to decline, but we were a little surprised to learn that many of our members didn’t redirect their gifts to the day to day operations of the parish. Maintaining more than 7 million dollars in parish facilities requires constant attention and significant outlays of funds. And we also have important projects in store that will improve what we already have. This past year we put on a badly needed new church roof; and in 2015 we will refurbish the sanctuary with new pews and carpeting. Would you please reconsider the generous support of the building & maintenance fund OR consider increasing your contributions to the day to day operations of the parish.
THANKS TO ALL OUR GOOD AND GENEROUS STEWARDS!!!

them and their caregivers every grace and blessing.

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS
Does the thought of making New Year’s resolutions make you groan? It may be time to put that cynicism away. While it’s true that many people give up on their resolutions within the first few weeks of the year, a significant number are successful. In fact, , between 40 and 46 percent of people manage to keep their New Year’s resolutions at six months, according to recent research by a Professor Norcross at the University of Scranton. He found that people are “ten times more likely to change by making a New Year’s resolution compared to non-resolvers with the identical goals and comparable motivation to change”. Once made by as many as 60 percent of U.S. adults, the tradition of making New Year’s resolutions has lost its pull over the years, attracting around 45 percent today. “New Year’s used to be a time of reflection, but now it’s seen as a time for celebration,” Norcross said, adding that the tradition is “a valuable opportunity to increase the quality of life.” Ongoing, scientific polling data on popular resolutions isn’t available, but health issues perennially top the lists, cropping up under diet or exercise.
