Breakthrough Day Breakthrough day for this term will be conducted on Friday 6th July. It will be a Science Fun Day with lots of interesting science activities conducted during the morning. It will also be a CRAZY HAIR DAY. Students are able to wear their hair in crazy, weird and wacky ways! Students wear their school uniform. Students will need to come to school with their hair already done. Please do not allow your child to bring any hairspray or glitter to school. The SRC will be collecting a gold coin donation. Kempsey Eisteddfod For the first time in many years, we have entered the musical category of the Kempsey Eisteddfod. A small group of our girls performed today. Thanks to Mr Duprez and Mrs Donnelly for their support of these buddying young musicians. Well done! Debating Gala Day Again our school has hosted the MPS: Macleay Public Schools Debating Gala Day. A number of schools from across our valley participated in 3 different debates throughout day. Con-gratulations to Miss Ransom for organizing another important and successful event. Congrat-ulations to our dedicated debaters. Enrichment Expo We would like to invite members of our school to participate in our 2nd Enrichment Expo at 2:10 pm tomorrow afternoon. Please come to the hall to see what our students have been learning. School Holidays: We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday, starting on Friday of this week. Students return to school on Tuesday 24th July. This term has been extremely busy at our school. Our students have received quality innovative educational experiences throughout this term. I take this opportunity to thank our teachers for the dedication and hardwork they have already demonstrated this year.

News from 2/3 Dhipalayn It was a sad week last week as we said our tearful goodbyes to our newest friend…..Charlotte. As you know we have been reading Charlotte’s web this term and the children and I have become very invested in the story. They learnt about compassion, friendship and about the fact that you don’t have to be big or a grown up to be able to help someone in need. We have finished our webs and little Char-lottes and they look amazing hanging on our back wall. We have written poems and stories too. The children have thought about and discussed what it would be like to be either, Charlotte, Wilbur, Templeton the rat or Fern the special little girl who saw something in Wilbur when he was given to her as the runt. During our Mathematics sessions this week we will be revising conversions of measuring units, analogue and digital time as well as our normal mentals and Maths challenges. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us on Thursday as we are going to resume our game of T-ball. Last week the children taught me how to play B-Ball and I was very pleased how everyone encouraged others….even when they got out positive comments were all we heard! Hoping everyone has a safe and happy
holiday. See you in Term 3.
Mrs Henderson
News from 5/6 Bugan In our final week of literacy for this term we are looking at ‘The Switch’ featuring Christiano Ronaldo. In this advert for Nike we see Cristiano Ronaldo clashing heads with an English ball boy whilst playing for Portugal against England. When they wake up the next day both of them feel a little different. Charlie and Ronaldo have swapped places. The film looks at persis-tence. We will be discussing this text and responding to questions. Our topic in Mathematics this week is on angles. We will be comparing, measuring, estimating and creating angles. Last Friday we began a fitness circuit course for PE. All students enjoyed this and this type of exercise will be incorpo-rated into our routine a couple of times a week. Over the holidays I will be writing the play script for our school Spectacular. Enjoy your holidays! Miss Sant
News from 5/6A Wambuyn Wambuyn class has continued to focus on per-sistence as a character trait. It would be helpful if families could also discuss persistence with their children including persistence in thinking when things are hard, persistence in effort at school and persistent high quality behaviour for all classes and teachers. We have begun a child protection unit of work in PDHPE, discussing power, abuse and body changes including anatomically correct names. If you need further details or wish to discuss your child's participation in this program, please contact me via the school office. A reminder about our senior excursion. This occurs early in Term 4 and is able to be paid off in instalments. Families and students are re-minded that attendance on major Stage 3 ex-cursions is a privilege, not a right and that those students who cannot display responsible, re-spectful and safe behaviours will have their
participation in this excursion questioned. Please don't forget our cake stall is on TOMOR-ROW! Donations of home-baked yummy treats would be very much appreciated. A note went home about this cake stall to all 5/6A students last week. Wishing you all a happy and safe half yearly break. Ms Adams
Cardboard cylinders needed for NAIDOC crafts please!
Could you please send cardboard tubes from
finished gladwrap, foil and towelling paper, into
school please, or any other cardboard cylinders
that you have at home and don’t need please?
We will be using these for our NAIDOC Day
celebrations which are on Friday 27th July, but
we need to start collecting the cylinders now.
Thankyou parents and community for your
support! PLEASE NO TOILET PAPER ROLLS.

TISSUES Our tissue supplies are extremely low—we ask that families please supply a box of tissues for the use of students in class-rooms. Premier's Debating Competition We will be hosting a debating Gala Day on Monday 2nd July as part of the Premiers Debating Challenge. Parents are invited to view the debates which will run at 10.00am, 12.00pm and 2.00pm. Kindergarten Orientation We are now taking enrolments for Kinder-garten 2019 and have scheduled orienta-tion dates. If you know anyone that may be considering sending their child to Fred-erickton Public School could you please have them contact the office. Aimee Ransom Deputy Principal Instructional Leader
News from 4 Bullunggirr During literacy sessions this week, students will be able to demonstrate the growth in their narrative writing using techniques (such as similes, use of adjectives and onomatopoe-ia) learnt over the term. Students will continue to watch the short film 'Soar' to develop an under-standing of how authors and illustra-tors make narratives interesting to capture the audience's attention. In this film Mara is trying to make a working model airplane when she has a chance meeting with Lucas. She attempts to help Lucas fix his own aircraft with many failures along the way. Mara displays persistence when helping him. In Maths lessons students will be learning about position. They will investigate and locate North, South, East and West and use these terms to locate objects on maps. Maybe you could help them locate these direc-tions at your home. Over the holidays it would be great if students could continue their reading, as well has having a relaxing time. Mrs Osborne

Athletics Carnival 2018
Congratulations to everyone who made this year’s athletics carnival such an amazing day. The weather was won-derful and it was a successful day for all competitors. I was delighted with the sportsmanship and house patronage that was displayed by all students. That in itself should be commended. A big thank you to Mrs Rose, Mrs Felten and Mr Secombe who came in at 7.00am to help me set up the carnival and to all staff and parents who helped man the events.
Winning House for this year goes to Phillips closely followed by Hunt, Lawson and Taylor.
Well done to the following students who are our 2018 Champions and Runners Up
Several records were broken during the course of the day both in track and field events. They are as follows.
Congratulations to Killara on an awesome effort.
Ribbons and medals will be handed out early next term when they arrive.
