MESSAGE FROM THE VICAR
It has been a very long and
challenging four months
working in the office without
a secretary and ministering
God’s people at Holy Faith
this year. The parting of Zel-
ma Oliva in December of
2017 as secretary due to ill-
ness, and Arlene Mighty’s hip
replacement surgery in Janu-
ary 2018, created huge chal-
lenges in the office. We were without secretary for several weeks until Omar Burges offered
to volunteer while we search for one. In the process, Omar felt the call to serve in this capaci-
ty as our Administrative Assistant and after going through the process of interviews, it was
decided to hire him to perform the office duties. I would like to thank every member who vol-
unteered to help the office fulfill its daily and weekly obligations to the congregation and the
community.
On the other hand, since I came to Holy Faith five years ago, I have been preaching, sharing
and advocating the urgency to implement changes in our worship as well as our worship
space, with the purpose of creating an environment where God feels the praise and worship of
His people; also to enable newcomers to experience God’s love, healing, and reconciliation as
they worship Jesus with us. I suggested to change the pews and replace them with modern
worship chairs, but that idea was not welcomed by many due to sentimental values to the tra-
ditional church pews. Then I tried other things to inject some spiritual energy to the congrega-
tion, but many of these innovative efforts were not well received.
Furthermore, I reminded the congregation that we are aging and need to find creative ways,
not only to invite newcomers, but also to help them feel at home and a desire to stay. One
method used in churches to measure growth is to check the number of baptisms, confir-
mations weddings and death. If the number of funerals is greater than the others, it is an
indication the congregation is dying. Holy Faith has had more funerals that baptisms in
the past five years and if we don’t do anything to change this trend one of us will stay
behind to close the doors.
Another crucial element to consider, is evangelism. In previous newsletters I wrote about the
importance of it, shared some biblical knowledge on the topic, and included steps to do effec-
tive evangelism, however, this information has not yet been put into practice for various rea-
sons. Continued on pg 3

Continued from pg. 1
Some members expect the Vicar to do the job, but the real job of evangelism is not the responsibility of the vicar, it is the re-
sponsibility of the Ministers of the Church and the ministers of the church are the congregation; meaning each person seated
in the pews on Sunday morning. A congregation grows when each member is involved inviting people to Christ and assisting
in making changes to accommodate those who are to come.
In couple days I will attempt to make other major changes to help us grow in faith and in spirit as well as numerical growth;
but these changes will need to have the full support of the Bishop Committee and congregation if the community will like to
experience real growth. I ask you to join me in prayer as we embark in this new spiritual venture for the glory and praise of
our risen Lord!
The Very Rev. Orlando J. Addison

Round and Round It Goes!
'Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart....'
2 Corinthians 9:7 NIV
The Bible says: ‘…Whoever sows … generously will also reap
generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in
your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God
loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly,
so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you
will abound in every good work.’ (2 Corinthians 9:6–8 NIV)
When you give what God tells you to, He’ll give you back more.
When you know that, it’ll revolutionize your approach to giv-
ing. Paul isn’t talking about people who’re trying to get rich;
he’s talking about ‘cheerful givers’ who want to finance God’s
purposes. He’s saying not only is it safe to give, it’s the way to
greater blessing. That’s especially good news for reluctant giv-
ers, because when you give something away it can feel like a
loss. But contributing to God’s work isn’t giving something
away; it’s investing—with a guaranteed return. A farmer who
sows doesn’t lose his seed, he gains a harvest. Can you imag-
ine a farmer praying this prayer? ‘God, give me a crop. I’m
trusting You to get involved, but I’m holding on to my seed
just in case.’ Is that what you’re doing? If so, here’s some good
news. When you sow generously, God gets involved in your
finances. Can you imagine a more secure position to be in?
The Bible says, ‘The generous will prosper…’ (Proverbs 11:25
NLT) When you give, it enables God to return to you even
more, which in turn enables you to give even more—and
round and round it goes!

Holy Faith Episcopal Church
Capital Campaign Fund Ministry
Revival Report
February 6, 2018
The Capital Campaign Fund Ministry held its first Spiritual Revival on January 21, 2018 through January 26, 2018.
Although the event does not fall under the umbrella of the Capital Campaign Fund Ministry, the committee felt there
was a need for a Revival at Holy Faith. The Revival was well received by everyone in attendance. They commented
that it was spiritually fulfilling and complimented the Rev. Dr. Donald Lutas for his inspirational messages. I must
say it was also very uplifting for me. The night of Healing was an experience, seeing so many people in tears. It was
evident that the Spirit of The Lord was moving among us.
Fr. Lutas was gracious in bringing us 200 copies each of Our Daily Bread, Today and Intouch Daily Readings for De-
voted Living booklets. They were distributed each night, and some were left in the Narthex. The remainder will be
delivered to some Rehab Facilities. The name of the church was stamped on them as a form of publicity for the
church. We will be receiving these booklets for the next few months. Members can sign up to receive them directly. I
will be arranging to have some delivered in Spanish language. We give God the Glory for this spiritual movement at
Holy Faith.
The Rev. Alberto Cutie was also well received by the Hispanic Ministry and the attendance was impressive.
The Youth Night was excellent! I was astonished at the number of youths who attended and by their participation in
the service. Kirsten Knox delivered a fantastic presentation. She challenged the youths not to consider themselves as
the church of tomorrow, rather the church of today where their presence and involvement are required and appreciat-
ed. It was clear that her message had a positive impact on them.
Special thanks to Deacon Jamie for assisting with the order of Service and her interaction with the youths. We are
grateful for Bother Paul (Marlon Anderson) who came by at a short notice and did some excellent renditions. He in-
teracted with the Hispanic musicians and gave them some pointers in playing the various instruments. Thanks to Mr.
Rookwood who, at the last minute when contacted to assist us with technical support for Brother Paul agreed to come
by and provide the service. Fortunately, he did because it was also useful for Kirsten Knox with her Power Point
presentation.
All expenses associated with the Revival were offset by contributions from the second offerings, nightly offerings and
donations from outside sources, namely Mr. & Mrs. Henry Austin, NY $100.00; Ms. Greta T. Facey, NY $100.00 and
Aycock Funeral Home $200.00. Our combined income was $2,787. 26 and expense is $2,668.87. Surplus of revenue
to expense is $118.39. I must commend our parishioners for their financial support and for the items donated for the
refreshments. Your generous contributions assisted us in defraying some of our expenses and we are extremely grate-
ful.
Thanks to all: the musicians, Martha for assisting with the Power Point, the Readers and Ushers for a job well done.
Fr. Orlando and Arlene for preparing the bulletins, all who assisted in any way, and especially our supporters. Your
participations contributed to the success of the Revival.
My Committee Members have been of tremendous help. I’m truly grateful for all the support they have given me over
the past year. You have always gone above and beyond the call of duty to work in the Lord’s Vineyard and your be-
loved Holy Faith Church. There were some glitches that we have identified. With the Grace of God, we will be more
improved for the next Revival.
Our Next event will be the Annual Gala Dinner Dance on May 4, 2018 at the Island Club 9200 One Putt Place, Port
St. Lucie, Florida 34986.
Saturday, September 22, 2018: a Gospel Concert with Brother Paul at Holy Faith.
We pray that with the Grace of God these events will be successful and that He will bless and guide our paths as we
continue to work in His Vineyard.
