2. THE BLAIR WITCHPROJECT/PARANORMALACTIVITY Both these films utilized a new way of marketing their films, Viralmovie marketing. This type of marketing is perfect for horror filmsbecause at first audiences can actually believe these videos are real lifeor at least based on real life. The Blair Witch Project producers created a website before thefilm was released, which described the story of the missing teenagerswith some short video clips. 3. While the Paranormal Activity producers released film clips anddid not relate it to a film so the online community started to believethat it was real life. This technique is perfect for horror/true life films and also profitsfrom the vast online community and reaches the target audience inquite an inexpensive way. 4. JOHN CARTER Disney spent 100million on Marketing but there was amisdirection when marketing this film, parents didnt know if it wasappropriate for their kids because the trailers showed a lot of violencewhile older audiences thought it was to babyish. The producers also didnt make the main female character part ofthe trailer and this could of alienated the female audience.
