    INTRODUCTION TO THE BOOK

    Since the early 1980s I have been studying, reading and researching a wide variety of subjects

    including natural health. From that time, what I began discovering seemed to be against the

    main stream of conventional thought regarding health and medicine.

    One day I woke up and realized that much of this topic was wrapped up in bad politics and big

    money.

    Such is the case with many, good and natural, alternative health supplements and remedies.

    THE SCIENCE OF GOOD HEALTH

    When it comes to the science of good health, as I said, it is more about big money

    and bad politics than it is about good science and maintaining great health,

    naturally.

    In America we have the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American

    Pharmaceutical Association (Big Pharma) with two of the largest congressional

    lobbies in existence today. For those that don’t know, lobbyists are generally, by

    definition, attorneys that are paid big bucks to influence your representatives in

    Washington DC to vote for stuff that is not necessarily in your best interest.

    The term goes all the way back to the English Parliament where people with

    varied interests would hang out in the LOBY of Parliament and attempt to catch

    the members of parliament and convince them to vote a certain way on a certain

    bill or proposal in the Parliament.

    It is the job of these current lobbyists to make sure that congress passes and

    enforces laws to increase the power, influence and control of the AMA and Big

    Pharma in every aspect of health care in the United States of America. With this

    power, influence, and control comes billions and billions of dollars of income for

    every aspect of these two huge industries. These lobbyists for the AMA and BIG

    PHARMA make sure that DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS MAKE LOTS OF MONEY

    CHARGING GREAT BIG BUCKS FOR YOUR MEDICAL CARE AND THE DRUGS

    PRESCRIBED BY YOUR DOCTORS. There are lots of conflicts of interests that work

    against the ordinary citizen like doctors owning hospitals and owning shares in

    the BIG PHARMA COMPANIES so that their little club KEEPS making lots and lots

    of YOUR money from prescribing synthetic drugs for you.

    On the other hand, we have much evidence that natural supplements and some

    natural methods of individual healthcare can go a long way to prevent and/or

    heal a wide variety of diseases and other medical problems.

    I’m not trying to say that we do not need our medical doctors because we do. I’m

    trying to say that there are some good and way less expensive alternatives out

    there that should be used and endorsed by the medical community. I will be

    discussing and presenting some of these ideas and methods in this book. These

    are the chapters on the science of maintaining good health and repairing and

    supporting your body by adding natural dietary supplements to what you eat.

    Over the last 40 years I have spent a great deal of time reading and researching

    several branches of medical and health science.

    As a young high school student, science was one of my hobbies. As a senior at

    Jesuit High School in Dallas, I was president of the Science Club and was Vice

    President of the Radio Club. As an extracurricular activity, our clubs hosted a

    small Science fair.

    The study of natural health alternatives has always been a hobby of mine.

    Note: This book is about a gazillion large pages and I have owned 5 copies of this book over at least the

    last 20 years. It is the best and most complete book of its kind. It is indexed well and covers everything

    that you ever wanted to know about natural and nutritional supplements, remedies and dietary

    considerations and recommendations for the prevention and possible cure of many diseases, ailments

    and other such unhealthy conditions and other stuff that may be affecting your health.

    It is written at the college level and can be difficult to understand if you have no background in natural

    health methods and practices.

    health and heal or improve some of the most common maladies that most humans struggle with every

    single day. (I know that this is out of alphabetical order, but , it fits here better logically, and the

    readers should know that he only addresses GENERAL dietary considerations. The above reference book

    covers specific dietary considerations for each ailment or malady that is addressed.

    Note: This book shows how the medical environment has become a labyrinth of interlocking corporate,

    hospital, and governmental interests increasingly controlled by drug companies, now commonly known

    as “BIG PHARMA”. Big Pharma representatives write glowing articles and reports about

    pharmaceuticals, which then get signed off on by physicians that are paid handsomely for their

    cooperation, even though they may not fully understand the adverse side effects of the drugs that they

    promote and prescribe… Many times, the most toxic of the substances are approved and used first,

    while milder and more natural alternatives are ignored largely for financial reasons. (FOLLOW THE

    MONEY). This is a great expose that was contributed on by two other MD’s and an MD/Naturopathic

    Doctor. The book is well written and the research is well documented. AGAIN, FOLLOWING THE

    MONEY.

    QUILLIN, Patrick, (PhD, R.D.), “SAFE EATING, A Practical Four-Point Program to lower your intake of

    Toxins and Increase your Tolerance of Toxins You Can’t Avoid”. 1990, M. Evans & Co., New York, NY.

    Note: What a great book. Everyone should OWN a copy and use it for research. He even addresses the

    OTHER SIDE of supplements and addresses it from a balanced perspective. THIS IS WHY WE SHOULD

    ALL CONSULT A NATUROPATHIC PHYSICIAN, SUPPLEMENTS ARE NOT ALWAYS THE ANSWER, AND

    SOMETIMES SUPPLEMENTS ARE “CONTRA INDICATED” FOR CERTAIN DISEASES. THAT’S RIGHT,

    SOMETIMES SUPPLEMENTS CAN DO YOU MORE HARM THAN GOOD, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE TAKING

    CERTAIN PRESCRIPTION DRUGS. Mr. Quillin starts from the perspective that EVERYTHING is affected in

    one way or another by chemical fertilizers, preservatives, growth hormones, steroids, insecticides,

    herbicides, and other toxins that are potentially very dangerous to most people, and to some people,

    life threatening. This book has so much good to great information that it is impossible to summarize

    easily, but I tried. The idea is to lower your toxic intake as much as possible and regularly cleanse and

    chelate your body to help your body remove more toxins that it would normally retain. This is the

    process of detoxification. It is very important, and if you do not do it regularly, you are looking for

    trouble.

    QUILLIN, Patrick, (PhD., RD, CNS), “BEATING CANCER WITH NUTRITION, Optimal nutrition can improve

    outcome in medically-treated cancer patients.

    Note: Another great book by Patrick Quillin. The book contains a bunch of recipes for healthy meals and

    foods for everyone, not just cancer patients. I offer up a great summary of this book. If you have cancer

    or know someone who does, you need a copy of this book.

    Section 1

    THE NATURAL HEALTH HANDBOOK

    INTRODUCTION

    In the following chapters we get into the science of having and living a MUCH MORE healthy

    lifestyle than most Americans do. First we summarize the book “THE SEVEN PILLARS OF

    HEALTH”. These pillars are Water, Sleep and Rest, Diet, including Living Foods (phyto-

    nutrients), Exercise, Detoxification, Nutritional Supplements, and Coping with Stress. (Our

    Chapter 2 covers DIET AND EXERCISE as a separate topic and chapter.)

    The next topic is Telomeres and Telemorase. Telomeres are the tip ends of all chromosomes

    that control the cell replication process and thus control the aging process. Replication is the

    process by which cells use to create new cells that are supposed to be perfect copies of the

    existing cells. We will find out that cells do not always make perfect copies of themselves.

    Telemorase is an enzyme that can be secreted and produced by the human body. It is a

    relatively new discovery and is not fully understood at this time. It IS known that Telemorase

    helps PROTECT AND DEFEND the telomeres, and, under certain circumstances, can actually

    initiate or cause the lengthening of these telomeres.

    Dr. Oz dedicated an entire nationally broadcast show to telomeres, and, using 5 women as test

    subjects, found that with diet and exercise alone, telomere numbers could actually INCREASE

    slightly.

    THE ACTUAL FACTS ARE: THE OLDER WE GET, THE SHORTER OUR TELOMERES GET, AND

    THEREFORE, AS WE AGE, THE FARTHER AND FASTER THE CELLULAR REPLICATION PROCESS

    DEGRADES.

    In this chapter, we explain cellular replication, telomeres and telomerase, and

    then we present natural supplement products, dietary considerations, and

    simple exercise programs that have been proven to improve your health and

    actually slow the process of human aging.

    We also present the latest scientific research into this new science of natural telomere support,

    We also cover some of the major causes of poor health in western society including what is

    known as the SAD, or the Standard American Diet, mentioned above, and based around fast

    foods, foods grown in nutritionally deficient soil that has been treated with tons of insecticides,

    herbicides and other dangerous chemicals, and foods raised and grown with excessive amounts

    of growth hormones, steroids, and antibiotics. These practices have been shown to increase

    the toxicity levels and levels of many toxins in the humans that consume them.

    Then we make specific recommendations for making BETTER BAD CHOICES for upgrading your

    overall health and wellness in the wake of all of the GARBAGE that is available for human

    consumption.

    Next we will discuss the ever present issue of mental health. We will cover depression, stress,

    anxiety and some other MINOR symptomatic disorders. We understand that some mental

    disorders must be treated with pharmaceuticals, but, many mental disorders can be treated

    with natural supplements, physical and mental exercises such a yoga, pilates, gi gong,

    this is kind of a pet peeve of mine. I will summarize a great presentation of the famous Dr. Weil

    to several federal agencies demonstrating that incarcerating minor drug offenders ties up

    roughly 50% of the judicial system and the penal system while roughly 15% of the ENTIRE

    population uses these drugs. 75% of this 15% use Marijuana ONLY, AND MORE AND MORE

    STATES ARE LEGALIZING ITS USE, BOTH RECREATIONAL AND MEDICINAL. Then I offer a clear

    and concise discussion of Freon, CO2, Man Made Global Warming and the propaganda that has

    been forced upon the American public. Then I cover oil well fracing (fracturing) and attempt to

    Why Telomere Science holds the Key to Youthful Healthy Aging

    There are trillions of cells in our body and at any given time a great number are dividing

    furiously to keep us alive and well. This process is called “cell replication”. The process is

    directed by genes sitting on the 23 pairs of chromosomes found in the nucleus of each and

    every cell. The chromosomes are long sequences or strands of DNA that contain all of our

    genetic material. Each pair of chromosomes consists of one from your mother and one from

    your father and they are twisted around each other in a shape structure called a double helix.

    Of particular interest to genetic scientists are the ends of each chromosome, which are known as

    telomeres. Telomeres have no genetic function; they are simply stretches of DNA (repeats of base pairs)

    that protect the rest of the chromosome. These little bits of DNA are critical to healthy cell function and

    have been likened to the plastic tips on shoelaces because they prevent the chromosome from fraying.

    However, telomeres do become progressively shorter each time the cell divides. When they get too

    short, cells reach “replicative senescence” and can no longer divide properly. The result is the

    various conditions associated with old age. In that sense, telomeres hold the key to our biological clocks

    AND CONTROL THE ENTIRE AGING PROCESS.

    Scientists have only recently begun to understand the critical importance of shortened telomeres.

    Research has shown that people over sixty who have long telomeres experience greater heart

    and immune system health than their age-matched counterparts with shorter telomeres.

    Thus, it is becoming well-understood that maintaining telomere length is very important in preventing

    age-related decline. The phenomenon of cellular aging was first noted by Professor Lenhard Hayflick in

    1961. He discovered that cells cannot divide beyond a specific number of times. This is called the

    Hayflick Limit. Cells reaching this limit become old. Although Professor Hayflick discovered this

    important scientific principle, he had no idea what caused it. It took almost thirty more years before the

    role telomeres play in cellular aging was finally understood. In 1990, Calvin Harley at McMaster

    University in Canada and Carol Greider at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in the USA discovered that

    telomere shortening goes hand-in-hand with the aging process and is the direct cause of cells reaching

    the Hayflick Limit.

    Telomeres are specialized structures that protect the chromosomes from fusions and degradation thus ensuring cell viability. Telomere loss, however, occurs as a natural result of aging and normal DNA replication.

    In mammalian cells, telomeres are composed of tandem repeats of the TTAGGG sequence that span10 to 15 kilobases and the various proteins that bind to this region.

    During DNA replication, the terminal end of the telomere is not replicated resulting in the continual shortening of telomeres losing TTAGGG repeats.

    The average number of base pairs lost per year varies depending upon both genetic and environmental factors.

    Nobel Prize

    In 2009, Elizabeth H. Blackburn, Carol W. Greider, and JackW. Szostak won the Nobel Prize in medicine

    for discovering how the chromosomes can be copied in a complete way during cell divisions and how

    Telomeres and the onset of Death

    A simple explanation of Telomeres

    From my uncomplicated perspective it is pretty simple.

    ASSUMED FACTS

    1. Modern science has come to realize that most humans carry cancer cells that are, and

    normally remain, dormant.

    2. Modern science does not fully understand what causes these cancer cells to activate.

    Studies have shown that the more prone we are to stress, and several other physiological

    factors, the more likely we are to activate cancer cells.

    3. Environmental pollutants in the atmosphere, electrosmog, or ELECTRO MAGNETIC FIELDS

    that are detrimental to our cellular replication, as well as pesticides and herbicides in massive

    amounts of soil probably have a great deal to do with the activation of cancer cells in modern

    humans. Statistical studies have demonstrated since the late 1800s, before the massive

    chemical treatment of soil began, the incidence of cancer has steadily risen. At the beginning of

    the 20th century (1900s) the incidence of death by cancer was less than 1 in 5. Around the time

    of WWII it was around 1 in 4.5. In the 60’s and 70’s it got to about 1 in 4. By the 1990’s, deaths

    from cancer has risen all the way to 1 in 3. These are the facts, you may arrive at your own

    conclusions.

    4. Studies also show that cancer runs in families and the PROPENSITY for cancer cell activation

    can be inherited.

    5. Telomere science has now told us that the shorter our telomeres are, the shorter our

    lifespan will be.

    6. We now have quantitative numbers to work with. When we are conceived, our new DNA

    chromosomes show a quantitative number of approximately 15,000. When we are born, blood

    tests show a quantitative number of approximately 10,000. At death the approximate

    quantitative number is about 5000.

    7. The telomeres, as well as the chromosomes, are spun like tightly spiraled springs similar to

    the look of a slinky. As I understand the current science, the number directly relates to the

    number of windings in the telomere.

    8. As we age, and our cells begin to replicate less and less perfectly or efficiently, and there are

    fewer and fewer spirals that make up the less and less healthy telomeres.

    The older we get, the more likely we are to "catch" cancer. Many older people die of cancer in

    their 80s and 90s that was not present in their 70s and 80s.

    9. Apparently, as the telomeres shorten and contain fewer and fewer winding spirals, cellular

    replication quality degrades slightly upon each replication. Our body's ability to keep cancer

    cells "at bay" weakens as the cellular degradation process continues.

    10. Apparently as our telomere spirals degrade, there is a corresponding WEAKENING of part

    of our immune system, which is part of our system that keeps cancer cells "at bay".

    Therefore as our telomere number approaches 5000, the aging process accelerates to the point

    that our immune system breaks down and collapses and we simply die of old age since our

    system is not strong enough to continue fighting infection, cancer, or even maintain the motor

    responses in the brain.

    When the telomere number goes below 5000, the motor neurons in the brain probably slow to

    a point that breathing becomes so slow, about one breath per minute, that the spirit leaves the

    body and does not return and the motor neurons just turn off the breathing mechanism

    Foods

    Diet can play an important role in lowering your cholesterol. Here are five foods that can lower your

    cholesterol and protect your heart. This comes from the Mayo Clinic Staff.

    Can a bowl of oatmeal help lower your cholesterol? How about a handful of walnuts or even a

    baked potato topped with some heart-healthy margarine? A few simple tweaks to your diet —

    like these, along with exercise and other heart-healthy habits — may be helpful in lowering your cholesterol.

    1. Oatmeal, oat bran and high-fiber foods

    Oatmeal contains soluble fiber, which reduces your low-density lipoprotein (LDL), the "bad,"

    cholesterol. Soluble fiber is also found in such foods as kidney beans, apples, pears, barley and

    prunes.

    Soluble fiber can reduce the absorption of cholesterol into your bloodstream. Five to 10 grams

    or more of soluble fiber a day decreases your total and LDL cholesterol. Eating 1 1/2 cups of

    cooked oatmeal provides 6 grams of fiber. If you add fruit, such as bananas, you'll add about 4

    more grams of fiber. To mix it up a little, try steel-cut oatmeal or cold cereal made with oatmeal

    or oat bran. DO NOT ADD PROCESSED SUGARS. USE A NATURAL SWEETNER LIKE AGAVE

    NECTOR OR HONEY, POSSIBLY MOLASES OR THE DARKEST BROWN SUGAR THAT YOU CAN BUY.

    2. Fish and omega-3 fatty acids

    Eating fatty fish can be heart healthy because of its high levels of omega-3 fatty acids, which

    can reduce your blood pressure and risk of developing blood clots. In people who have already

    had heart attacks, fish oil — or omega-3 fatty acids — reduces the risk of sudden death.

    The American Heart Association recommends eating at least two servings of fish a week. The

    highest levels of omega-3 fatty acids are in Mackerel, Lake trout, Herring, Sardines, Albacore

    tuna, Salmon, and Halibut.

    You should bake or grill the fish to avoid adding unhealthy fats. If you don't like fish, you can

    also get small amounts of omega-3 fatty acids from foods like ground flaxseed or canola oil.

    You can take an omega-3 or fish oil supplement to get some of the benefits, but you won't get

    other nutrients in fish, such as selenium. If you decide to take a supplement, just remember to

    3. Walnuts, almonds and other nuts

    Walnuts, almonds and other nuts can reduce blood cholesterol. Rich in polyunsaturated fatty

    acids, walnuts also help keep blood vessels healthy.

    Eating about a handful (1.5 ounces, or 42.5 grams) a day of most nuts, such as almonds,

    hazelnuts, peanuts, pecans, some pine nuts, pistachio nuts and walnuts, may reduce your risk

    of heart disease. Just make sure the nuts you eat aren't salted or coated with sugar.

    All nuts are high in calories, so a handful will do. To avoid eating too many nuts and gaining

    weight, replace foods high in saturated fat with nuts. For example, instead of using cheese,

    meat or croutons in your salad, add a handful of walnuts or almonds.

    4. Olive oil

    Olive oil contains a potent mix of antioxidants that can lower your "bad" (LDL) cholesterol but

    leave your "good" (HDL) cholesterol untouched.

    Try using about 2 tablespoons (23 grams) of olive oil a day in place of other fats in your diet to

    get its heart-healthy benefits. To add olive oil to your diet, you can saute vegetables in it, add it

    to a marinade or mix it with vinegar as a salad dressing. You can also use olive oil as a substitute

    for butter when basting meat or as a dip for bread. Olive oil is high in calories, so don't eat

    more than the recommended amount.

    The cholesterol-lowering effects of olive oil are even greater if you choose extra-virgin olive oil,

    meaning the oil is less processed and contains more heart-healthy antioxidants. But keep in

    mind that "light" olive oils are usually more processed than extra-virgin or virgin olive oils and

    are lighter in color, not fat or calories.

    5. Foods with added plant sterols or stanols

    Foods are now available that have been fortified with sterols or stanols — substances found in

    plants that help block the absorption of cholesterol.

    Margarines, orange juice and yogurt drinks with added plant sterols can help reduce LDL

    cholesterol by more than 10 percent. The amount of daily plant sterols needed for results is at

    least 2 grams — which equals about two 8-ounce (237-milliliter) servings of plant sterol-

    Other changes to your diet

    For any of these foods to provide their benefit, you need to make other changes to your diet

    and lifestyle.

    Cut back on the cholesterol and total fat — especially saturated and trans fats — that you eat.

    Saturated fats, like those in meat, full-fat dairy products and some oils, raise your total

    cholesterol. Trans fats, which are sometimes found in margarines and store-bought cookies,

    crackers and cakes, are particularly bad for your cholesterol levels. Trans fats raise low-density

    lipoprotein (LDL), the "bad," cholesterol, and lower high-density lipoprotein (HDL), the "good,"

    cholesterol.

    In addition to changing your diet, keep in mind that making additional heart-healthy lifestyle

    changes are key to lowering your cholesterol. Talk to your doctor about exercising, quitting

    smoking and maintaining a healthy weight to help keep your cholesterol level low.

    how much the cholesterol in your diet can increase your blood cholesterol ALSO varies from

    person to person. Although eating too many eggs can increase your cholesterol, eating four egg

    yolks or fewer on a weekly basis hasn't been found to increase your risk of heart disease.

    When deciding whether to include eggs in your diet, consider the recommended daily limits on

    cholesterol in your food:

    If you are healthy, it's recommended that you limit your dietary cholesterol to less than

    300 milligrams (mg) a day.

    If you have cardiovascular disease, diabetes or a high low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or

    "bad") blood cholesterol level, you should limit your dietary cholesterol to less than 200 mg

    a day.

    One large egg has about 186 mg of cholesterol — all of which is found in the yolk. Therefore, if

    you eat an egg on a given day, it's important to limit other sources of cholesterol for the rest of

    that day. Consider substituting servings of vegetables for servings of meat, or avoid high-fat

    dairy products for that day. HAVE A SMOOTHIE OR A HEALTHY SHAKE FOR BREAKFAST.

    If you like eggs but don't want the extra cholesterol, use only the egg whites. Egg whites

    contain no cholesterol. You may also use cholesterol-free egg substitutes, which are made with

    egg whites.

    Should I eat meat?? Vitamin B-12- A test measures the amount of vitamin B12 in the blood. The body needs this B

    vitamin to make blood cells and to maintain a healthy nervous system. Vitamin B12 is found in

    animal products such as meat, shellfish, milk, cheese, and eggs. Most people who eat animal

    products are not likely to develop vitamin B12 deficiency anemia unless their bodies cannot absorb it

    from food. Strict vegetarians (vegans) who do not eat animal products and babies of mothers who

    are strict vegetarians are at increased risk for developing anemia and should take a supplement

    containing vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is stored in the liver for a year or more, which reduces a

    person’s risk of anemia. Vitamin B12 is usually measured at the same time as a folic acid test,

    because a lack of either one can lead to a form of anemia called megaloblastic anemia. Lack of

    vitamin B12 also affects the nervous system.

    What is cancer??

    Cancer is a general term for forms of new tissues that have no controlled growth patterns. These tissues, at the cellular level, are due to a growth of mutated cells. Mutagens are any chemical or physical agents that cause a gene change (mutation) or speed up the rate of mutation.

    Chemicals are identified as a major source of mutagens. What are all of the sources of these chemicals?? It is virtually impossible to eliminate them from our world at this stage of the game.

    Medical science tells us that researchers have absolutely no idea what causes this disease. From a physiological perspective, it can be seen that cancer is mutated or uncontrolled cellular growth (of cells that are foreign to the host).

    The medical community does know what causes cancer; it is just reluctant to admit it. This reluctance to admit the truth is based upon economic and political considerations.

    Medical Doctors that state that cancer can be cured or controlled through dietary changes and increased nutritional supplementation are drummed out of the medical community. To cure cancer or to admit its cause would create financial havoc in the world economy because we would not be able to change quickly enouth to a non-cancer-causing system of economics… Everything we are currently doing would become invalid.     The vegetables, grains, and fruit produced in much of today’s soil, is nutrient depleted, as are a lot of the animals that graze on the grass growing in a lot of the soil. Much of our soil is sick and riddled with chemicals that are harmful to our health.

    This is a summary of articles from7 books with a bibliography

    at the end.

    Periodically during the past few decades a story about the adverse health effects of

    electromagnetic fields (EMF) or electricity has made a small splash in the public media. These

    stories are quickly discounted as being untrue or hypochondriac in nature. And yet, these

    stories and case studies continue to emerge as reported in one publication, "In one pooled

    study that combined nine well-conducted studies from several countries, including a study from

    the National Cancer Institute (NCI), a twofold excess risk of childhood leukemia was associated

    with exposure to magnetic fields above 0.4 µT.

    Note from Rick: the previous symbol represents 40% or .4 of 1/1,000,000 T (Teslas) and is

    convertible to G (Gauss), which is a measurement of magnetic field strength. I do not know the

    exact conversion. The field strength is usually quite low unless a lot of current is involved like

    high voltage electric power lines. Gauss and Tesla meters can measure very small increments

    of magnetic fields. THEY ARE REAL AND IT MAKES COMMON SENSE THAT THESE FIELDS CAN

    HAVE AN EFFECT AT THE CELLULAR LEVEL, ESPECIALLY IN INFANTS AND SMALL CHILDREN. THE

    INCREASE IN AUTISM IN THE LAST 40 YEARS IS A CLUE.

    In another pooled study that combined 15 studies, a similar increased risk was seen above 0.3

    µT." In yet another study, "A questionnaire survey of 2,072 people in California found that the

    prevalence of ES [electro¬sensitive] within the sample group was 3.24% with ES being defined

    as "Being allergic or very sensitive to getting near electrical appliances, computers, or power

    lines" (Levallois 2002, response rate 58.3%). A similar questionnaire survey from the same year

    in Stockholm County (Sweden), found a 15% prevalence of ES amongst the sample group, with

    ES being defined as "Hypersensitivity or allergy to electric or magnetic fields" (Hillert 2002,

    response rate 73%)."ii

    In addition, there is now a plethora of products that are making claims of "protection,"

    "shielding," or "reduction" of exposure to EMF. There is no magic pill or product that can

    protect us, and though it is true that some of the products are effective, none of them address

    ALL of the issues. And in fact, if misused, they can exacerbate the situation.

    The general public is often overwhelmed with the technical terms and the complexity, so the

    tendency has been to simply ignore the issue, though the majority of the general public

    believes there is some risk in using a cell phone, people continue to use it because it is

    convenient. Just as people know that "fast food" is not healthy, the convenience trumps the

    risk. What the general public does not know is that the largest risk to EMF may not be the cell

    phone (though it is bad there as well), but within their bedroom. At night our bodies recuperate

    from the daily onslaught of stress, our cells and organs detoxify and replace themselves. If this

    process is interrupted because our cell membranes are in constant stress, then healthy cells can

    be damaged or have problems properly replicating, while unhealthy cells (infections, mutations,

    neural disorders)i can proliferate. For example, several individuals link Lyme disease to

    electromagnetic exposure as follows:

    "Nodular, discoid morphoea-like, and widespread cutaneous fibroses in chronic Borrelia

    infection may be provoked by trauma, surgery or electromagnetic radiation."vii

    "Just as Lyme Disease sufferers using rife technology experience herx reactions following

    treatment sessions, it is feasible that people with EMF [electromagnetic fielci] sensitivity are

    experiencing the effects of electromagnetic fields on undiagnosed infections in their body"

    "Based on the growing consensus that Lyme Disease is often misdiagnosed and is spreading

    rapidly, it seems possible that EMF [electromagnetic field] sensitivity may in fact be due to

    undiagnosed Lyme Disease or similar infection. According to one author, the problem of EMF

    sensitivity has grown to epidemic proportions. Further evidence supporting this hypothesis is

    that many people who suffer from EMF sensitivity have lots of other health problems that

    suggest infection."

    Research has established that our bodies communicate first bio-electrically and then bio-

    chemicallyx.

    In nature there are many electromagnetic fields that have no adverse effect on our bodies, That

    is because natural fields are either temporally constant (same frequency) or spatially constant

    (same shape), but not both. On the other hand, manmade signals by necessity for

    communication are both temporally and spatially constant. According to Dr. Carlo, with

    prolonged exposure, these constant signals can cause the protein vibratory receptors located

    on our cell membranes to go into resonance

    Once in resonance, the cell must determine whether the "signal" is a biological communication

    or a foreign invader. If it is the latter, as is the case with all manmade signals, then the cell will

    react by going into sympathetic lock in order to protect the cell from this perceived invasion.

    Sympathetic lock prevents the cell from taking in nutrition and releasing toxins.

    This cell membrane reaction triggers a cascade of events that can then manifest itself in a

    variety of symptoms and diseases starting with compromising the immune system. According to

    Dr. Becker, "it is well-established that exposure to any abnormal electromagnetic field produces

    a stress response. If the exposure is prolonged, the stress-response system becomes exhausted,

    and the competency of the immune system declines to below normal. In such a state, animals

    and humans are more susceptible to cancer and infectious diseases."

    Note that though the discussion here is about healthy cells, other cells within our bodies, such

    as viruses and bacteria, will also respond as if under attack and proliferate in order to survive.

    So how does one protect themselves and their family? The answer is by Creating Sleeping

    Sanctuaries.

    Read on to find the steps to take to identify and remove as much of this "electrosmog" from

    your bedroom as possible. In a recent article in the Townsend Letter, the "Guided Digital

    Medicine Management of Lyme Disease consists of four main components:" of which

    "Component #4 addresses blocks and potential blocks to the treatment: diet, reduction of

    electromagnetic pollution, emotional stress, etc."

    Creating a Sleeping Sanctuary - Limiting the Electrosmog

    The ultimate goal is to expose the body to as natural a background as possible. Unfortunately,

    in most living environments this will require some type of protection as the external

    environment is also polluted. However, we find by far that the indoor pollution (that within

    your control) is quite often much higher than the external environment.

    Step 1: Magnetic fields

    Magnetic therapy has been established as a well-known treatment, especially for those with

    inflammation; however, chronic exposure nightly can cause problems. Magnetic fields have a

    direct impact to the intercellular gap junction communication.

    Magnetic fields are caused whenever there is an unbalanced flow of current. They cannot easily

    be shielded and will penetrate through walls, floors and ceilings. Thus, the best advice is to first

    determine if you have them and then distance yourself from them.

    Appliances (refrigerators, TVs, stereos, air conditioning units) - should not be within 6ft of

    sleeping area - this includes the adjacent room or room above or below)

    Breaker/Fuse boxes - should not be within 6ft of sleeping area - this includes an adjacent room

    Wiring errors - this requires you to investigate with a Gaussmeter. You can buy an inexpensive

    Gaussmeter and then survey your sleeping area. Levels above 1 mG (milli Gauss) are considered

    too high

    Step 2: Electric fields

    Electric fields are present whenever there is something nearby that is energized or "hot."

    Electric fields have a beginning and an end, and therefore, there are ways to shield from these.

    Because of the orthogonal magnetic field component of electric fields, it is suspected that the

    biological interaction of electric fields also occurs at the intercellular gap junction. One of the

    critical elements of exposure to electric fields is the reduction of melatonin.

    The biological effects of such have been attributed to neurological and malignant growth

    effects within the body.

    Electrical appliances, such as lamps, extension cords, alarm clocks or radios - do not use these at

    night, if you need something near your bed, use a battery-powered device

    Step 3: Radio frequency fields

    This category includes everything that is used for wireless communications, from radios, to TV's,

    to cell phones, to wireless internets. Human bodies are not designed to live within a world with

    elevated radio frequency signals; yet we have created such an environment. Long-term

    exposure to low levels of RF can cause sympathetic lock of cell membranes and tile

    consequential cascade of cellular dysfunction.

    Sources:

    Turn OFF all wireless devices at night. If you need something at night, don't use devices that are

    wireless.

    Examples of wireless devices that are often found in bedrooms, that should not be present :

    cordless telephones, RF baby monitors, and wireless speakers. Of these, the cordless phone base

    appears to have the worst biological impact as many of them transmit a signal 24 hrs a day, 7 days

    a week.

    Avoid any wireless device that is digital. There are baby monitors available that are not digital.

    Protection from external RF sources can best be done by erecting a canopy made from RF

    reflective material over the bed. Films and fabric on windows may also be effective, but quite

    often the signal is also penetrating through the walls, floors or ceilings.

    Step 4: Static Magnetic fields

    Metal bedsprings often have residual magnetism, either from when mined or due to repetitive

    compression over time. Though magnetic therapy can be beneficial, constant exposure to

    magnetic field anomalies can reduce the production of red blood cells and disturb the REM

    sleep. And as with electric fields, static fields can also reduce melaton.

    One interpretation In this article we review the basis of both numeric standards and precautionary-based

    approaches. While we believe that policies regarding EMF should indeed be precautionary, this

    does not require or imply adoption of numeric exposure standards. We argue that cutpoints

    from epidemiologic studies, which are arbitrarily chosen, should not be used as the basis for

    making exposure limits due to a number of uncertainties. Establishment of arbitrary numeric

    exposure limits undermines the value of both the science-based numeric EMF exposure

    standards for acute exposures and precautionary approaches. The World Health Organization's draft

    Precautionary Framework provides guidance for establishing appropriate public health policies for power-frequency

    EMF.

    Rick’s interpretation and recommendations There has been considerable scientific effort to understand the potential link between

    exposures to power-frequency electric and magnetic fields (EMF) and the occurrence of cancer

    and other diseases. The combination of widespread exposures, established biological effects

    from acute, high-level exposures, and the possibility of leukemia (and other things like autism

    and retardation) in children from low-level, chronic exposures to various EMF frequencies has

    made it both necessary and difficult to develop consistent public health policies. As one would

    imagine, the government and purveyors of EMF energy devices would love for this topic to just

    go away.. Your best alternative is to take a DEFENSIVE POSTURE and turn off all devices that

    you can at night during your rest cycle and do not use digital devices around young children.

    Some people are more susceptible to EMF than others. If you feel that you are more

    susceptible, follow the above instructions and if you feel better and more rested, continue to

    follow. Depending upon your psychotic phobia level, you may want to take extra precautions

    because of the placebo effect. If you THINK that you are safer, you are safer.

    Can Cancer be prevented??

    Unfortunately, cancer has been with us since ancient times and even up until the late 1800s cancer was a devastating disease, but, since the average lifespan was around the mid-50s, most people died from causes other than cancer.

    With the advent of many medical breakthroughs brought about by the growing incidence of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other maladies in the western world today, our lifespan keeps lengthening, despite the increase in the incidence of cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

    Dr. Danhof is now 88 years old and is the retired Chairman of the Gastroenterology Department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and has been

    breakthroughs in the field of cancer treatment. He has pioneered and marketed quite a few high quality Aloe Vera products over the years including pharmaceutical grade IV drips for the

    He has graciously consented to be interviewed for this book. He is a personal friend and I have known him personally for 11 years

    PROPER DIET AND EXERCISE FOR OVERALL BETTER HEALTH

    Balance your diet, ease off of and cut back on red meat. Primarily eat grass fed meat that has had no steroids or hormones added, and was raised organically.

    Eat as much organically grown foods as possible, eliminate GMOed stuff from your diet, and get plenty of exercise.

    This chapter is based upon several books including the book by Patrick Quillin, PhD, RD, CNS

    “SAFE EATING”, A Practical Four-Point Program to lower your intake of Toxins and

    Increase your Tolerance of Toxins You Can’t Avoid”. It was published in 1990 by M. Evans &

    Co., New York, NY.

    Wow, what a great book. Everyone should OWN a copy and use it for research. He even

    addresses the OTHER SIDE of supplements and addresses them from a balanced perspective.

    He starts from the perspective of EVERYTHING is affected in one way or another by chemical

    fertilizers, preservatives, growth hormones, steroids, insecticides, herbicides, and other toxins

    that are potentially very dangerous, and, to some people, life threatening. This book has so

    much good to great information that it is impossible to summarize, but I will try.

    I also use my own experience, some common sense, several articles from the internet, and I

    stress the principle of “IMPROVE YOUR LIFESTYLE TO INCLUDE EATING HEALTHIER, BY MAKING

    BETTER BAD CHOICES”. Then, as time goes on, you will improve your diet as your overall health

    improves.
