To the School Community

It is an exciting week this week for our Prep students who are celebrating 100 Days of school today. This annual event is definitely one of my favourites as it celebrates and highlights how amazing children are! From their tentative beginnings as students in our system the preps at Hamlyn Banks have already developed it successful members of our school community. PUTTING THE BOUNCE INTO TRANSITION

The Barwon Adolescent Task Force is excited to deliver an event to support parents and their children who are nearing the all-important transition into Secondary education. This presentation, for parents/carers and their children, is de-signed to celebrate all things emerging adolescence, moving into secondary school and being connected to community brings. The aim is that students, and parents/carers walk away with a few more tools in their tool boxes that equip them for the years to come, with the ability to learn from their mistakes and the capacity to try again. The presentation will be held on Wednesday 5th August 2015 from 7:00pm - 8:30 pm. The presentation will be hosted at Western Heights College, MY Red building, which is situation on Vines Rd, Hamlyn Heights A light supper will be provided on the night. Hi everyone,

Wow last week was full on! The toffee was a huge success, the children were

really excited to try it and really loved it, with a lot of recipes going home. Our

turtles that we made are really cute and on display in the arts centre. We didn't

get time to complete the felt bookmarks so we have held them over for another

time later in the term. We finished off a busy week by watching the movie "Paper

Planes". As you know we have been making a heap of these at the moment and

thought the movie might be a good tie in. Thanks Oliver for the suggestion!

Don't forget we are I the process of writing a service philosophy, if you would like

to provide some feedback or some suggestions for items you would like to put in it

please feel free to pop in and see Jess and I or write it down and hand it into the

office.

This week will be another busy week. We will be cooking pretzels high should be

great fun. We also have a really cool art and craft activity for this week where we

will be drawing 3D hands using only lines. I can't wait for his one!

With the weather seemingly on the improve it is a good time to remember that it is

really important to have all of your children's clothing labelled. The more we run

around the more they want to take off their jumpers and we always end up having

some left over at the end of the night in the mad rusty get home. I try my hardest

to get them returned to their rightful owner but it is hard when there is no name.

Our star of the week this week is Alasdair T for always doing his homework with-

out any fuss. Well done!

Thanks for your time, Mel, Karen, Julie and Phil.

Hi Everybody!

This week we are announcing Buddy Leaders for term 3. Emma, Ella, Molly,

Chloe, Gemma and Talia have all nominated themselves for the job and have

worked hard to represent the Buddy Leader values. Aarliyah will be a "second in

command" which means she will be ready to help out the Buddy Leaders

whenever they need it. We will continue to have these children help run our daily

group games as part of their leadership responsibilities. I also want to thank all of

last terms leaders and remind all the children that there will be another

opportunity next term if they would like to nominate themselves for the role. I am

excited to see how they rise to the challenge of making ASC an inviting place for

everyone.

Fundraising preparation is in full swing with plans for a colouring competition,

paper plane competition and art and craft stall in the works. If you are would like

to contribute, we would love some materials for art and craft and we are also

sourcing prizes for our competitions. Any items can be brought to the performing

arts room before 9am or after 3.15pm. We would greatly appreciate any and all

contributions!

Our Star of the Week award goes to Yu-Ru T for patiently teaching a friend how

to fold a paper aeroplane. Well done Yu-Ru!

Enjoy the rest of your week! Jess (BSC Coordinator) and Suzanne
