FAQ’s Sheet (our CCB On-line Community Database)

What is the HUB? It is the “name” of the on-line community database for Good Shepherd. 1. What are the benefits of an on-line database? SO many!

Access to church member information via internet or mobile device (phone number & address) Increased communication between various groups and departments Decrease in scheduling conflicts with on-line church calendar& room reservation system Increase accurate personal information with real-time activity (you can update your profile) Custom calendar for each person with your groups & church events Ability to see volunteer needs & engage AND RSVP for events

2. Is this website secure or will hackers be able to access our private information? CCB is a secure website built by Church Community Builder. We pay a yearly subscription to use their software and ongoing support. Only those with a log-in are allowed access to see any information. There are various types of administrative permissions. 3. How do I log on? What website do I go to? When you initially receive an email with your log-on information, there is a link to click, follow and it will take you to the main page (here is the link https://goodshep.ccbchurch.com/login.php). There is also a link on the www.goodshep.com homepage. 4. Who sees ALL our information? Only the Church Administrator can access all information, other leaders are given various levels of access to see certain types of information. 5. What permissions do group leaders have? Group Leaders are able to communicate with their group, record attendance, add/remove group members, post needs, upload files, and generate schedules. They do not have full access to each group member’s profile, only what is currently enabled by each individual. 6. How can I email someone even though I can’t see their email address? To help ensure privacy the email address is hidden on the individual’s profile to most users. You are still able to send them a message which will go directly to their in-box (or Spam) and can be replied to you like any other email. NOTE: since these will originally end up in Spam folders, please be sure to check often and mark as necessary. (An individual can choose to make their e-mail viewable if desired).

7. How do I edit my information? Once you log on successfully, click on “edit profile” and you’ll be able to change your username, password, phone number, address, etc.

8. Is there an iphone or android app? There is not an app, but there is a mobile phone log in and ability to make an icon to click on. You go to the website on your phone, under options on your phone “add to home screen” and it will add the 3 circle CCB icon. Then you log in with your user name and password, it will take you to the people section of the database where you can see name, phone, e-mail, link to google map, etc.

Welcome to Good Shepherd On-Line! This is the expanded database for Good Shepherd. It is software created and supported by Church Community Builder (CCB). It is a secure website which enables us to have on-line access to information anywhere there is a computer or internet connection. When you initially get your log-in information via email, it will direct you to this screen. Bookmark/favorite for future use. There is also a link on www.goodshep.com to access the database. In addition to regular computer access you will also have the ability to log-in via a PDA or iPhone.

This is your homepage! The calendar is your calendar, so any groups you are in will have events show up in upcoming. You can head to your profile by clicking the “blue” words.

On the RIGHT you can see a list of “actions” 1. Send an email 2. Download vCard (add contact to address book)

Profile Settings

1. Edit profile 2. Adjust availability to serve 3. Set communication prefs 4. Change username/password 5. Update privacy (you have control over what others see)

Edit Family

You will have the ability to add people to your family and make changes to others in your family (children).

In the center of the screen you’ll see more tabs (activity, family, info, involvement, financial, and serving availability). These are areas for you and others to see where you are involved or where you would like to be involved. You can print your own financial statements at the end of the year and keep track on your giving.


Family Tab

Here you would see all your family members and their relation to you.


Info Tab Based on information you put on your profile, this is a page which will give a snapshot of who you are and what areas of ministry you would like to be involved in or are involved in. You can put in your faith story, spiritual gifts, passions and abilities (electrician, plumber, vocalist, counselor, etc)


Involvement Tab This is another place you see all your groups and events. You can track and see your own attendance, serving and friends.


Financial Tab You will be able to see your giving history, print statements and recent transactions. At this point we are not set up to have repeating gifts or on-line giving...Coming in the near future.


Groups When you click on the “groups” tab at the top of the screen you’ll be directed to this page. All the groups you are involved with will be listed. From here you can also search for new groups by either searching for one you already know the name of or by clicking the “blue” words “Discover A New Group”. Some groups are closed, some are open to anyone and some you must be approved.


Messages Your messages tab will house all messages from groups and individuals. Below is an example of my messages tab and how each groups messages are saved and you can continue to comment as needed from either this tab or the groups tab.


People From this tab you’ll be able to search for people and see your saved “friends”. To add someone to your “friends list”, simply search for them. When they pop up on the right hand side of the screen you’ll see blue words “add to friends list”. Simply click those words and they will be added to your people homepage as a friend fore easier access. This works great for other family members, close friends, deacons or others you want to see often. As with the other tabs you can search by using their name or by other information (age, grade in school, involvement, etc). Remember it will only bring up people who have added specific information, so your results may not be complete.


MORE Under the “more” tab you’ll see a list of other options…

These are all areas where you can search for those specific things or see your current involvement. We are still developing these areas but our desire would be to use the “needs” area in a way to helps the body help each other. More to come!


Reports On the far right of your screen you’ll find two little tabs, “reports” and “help”. For reports you can get your financial statement, attendance, and under “people” you’ll see you can export and print the full directory! This will enable you to print a directory at home anytime and have up to date information (well, as much as people stay on top of their own information). As people add pictures, we’ll have an up to date pictorial directory as well.


Privacy Settings On the very top of your screen you’ll see three white words “help”, “settings” and “logout”. Under the settings tab you can change your various settings (profile, availability to serve, etc.) and privacy. Here you can gain an understanding of what each setting means and make changes. Again remember that if a person does not have a username and password, your information will not show up in other searches (Google, etc). Once you understand what each setting means, beneath you’ll see various categories where you can personally set your settings. Remember back to your main people page and the friends you listed...when it says “friends only”, only those people selected will be able to see that information.
