The ICFAI University, Dehradun

The ICFAI University, Dehradun is established under the provision of

the ICFAI University Act, 2003 (Act 16 of 2003) enacted by the State

of Uttarakhand. The University is recognized by the University

Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956. The

University is the member of the Association of Commonwealth

Universities, London and Association of Indian Universities, New

Delhi. The University is located at Selaqui, Dehradun

(Uttarakhand). Since its inception, the University has maintained

the standard and decorum in the educational environment. It’s

UTSAV- General Guidelines

College students (UG and PG) & School Student (Class 9-12)

can participate in UTSAV cultural Fest.

The participants are required to carry a valid Photo Id card of

their respective Campus/University. Without Photo Id-Card the

participants will not be allowed to participate in any of the

events.

UTSAV organizing Committee reserves the right to cancel any

registration at any point of time during the event, if the

requisites are not provided.

The decision of the UTSAV Judges will be final and binding on

all participants.

During the events, Spotlight events, and celebrity performance,

any behavior denigrating or being disrespectful is strictly

prohibited and non-tolerable.

The participants are expected to report 1 hour prior to the

event.

The ICFAI University makes no commitment, except as our

Solo-singing (Indian)

3 members allowed (1 singer along with its 2 musicians, only

singer is going to be judged and musicians are just there to

support the performance).

Only Indian genres are allowed (including bollywood)

Time allotted for the performance including the sound set-up

will be 5 minutes.

Songs can be original or covers.

Maintaining the time limits are mandatory (performances

crossing the time limit will lose their points)

Note: registrations will be confirmed on first come and first

serve basis.

Duet-singing (Indian)

4 members allowed (2 singers along with its 2 musicians, only

singers are going to be judged and are just there to support the

performance).

Only Indian genres are allowed(including bollywood)

Time allotted for the performance including the sound set-up

will be 5 minutes.

Songs can be original or covers.

Participants will be judged on the basis of their proficiency in

lyrics, stage presence, clarity of

Voice and timings.

Maintaining the time limits are mandatory (performances

crossing the time limit will lose their points)

Note: registrations will be confirmed on first serve and first

come basis

Band wars

3- 8 members in a band

Songs can be original or covers.

Vocals are compulsory.

Time allotted for the band performance including the sound

set-up will be 15 minutes.

A basic drum kit will be provided

All other instruments are supposed to be carried by the band

members

Participants must carry extra cables.

Time limit is mandatory (performances crossing the time limit

will lose their points).

Solo dance

Each team may have 1 member, +1 coordinator (if required).

Time limit: 3-5 mins (+2min setup and clearance time).

Negative points will be given for exceeding the time limit.

Dance form: participants are free to perform any dance style(s)

Choice of songs is open to the participants. The audio may be a

single song or a medley.

Usage of props are allowed. Participants should get their own

props. No props will be provided by organizer.

The participants are requested to bring two cds to avoid

technical disturbance. Out of which, they are also requested to

submit one cd with the coordinator of the event.

Green room would be given for changing purpose.

The participants will be judged on the basis of their rhythm,

formation, synchronization, expressions, and costumes,

makeup, setup and overall effects.

Duet dance

Time limit is 3-5 minutes for each performance. Negative

marking for exceeding the time limit.

Each team may have 2 members. +1 coordinator (if required).

Choice of songs is open to the participants. The participants are

requested to bring two cds to avoid technical disturbance. Out

of which, they are also requested to submit one cd with the

coordinator of the event.

No props will be provided by the organizer. Participants can

carry their own props.

Dance performance should not convey any indecent gestures.

Green room would be given for changing purpose.

The participants will be judged on the basis of their rhythm,

formation, synchronization, expressions, and costumes,

makeup, setup and overall effects.

Group dance

Time limit: 6-8 mins (+2min setup and clearance time).

Negative points will be given for exceeding the time limit.

Each team may have 6-12 members, including coordinators.

Dance form: participants are free to perform any dance style(s)

Choice of songs is open to the participants. The audio may be a

single song or a medley.

The participants are requested to bring two CDS to avoid

technical disturbance. Out of which, they are also requested to

submit one cd with the coordinator of the event.

Usages of props are allowed. Participants should get their own

props. No props will be provided by organizer.

Dance performance should not convey any indecent gestures.

Green room would be given for changing purpose.

The participants will be judged on the basis of their rhythm,

formation, synchronization, expressions, and costumes,

makeup, setup and overall effects.

Street play

Team size- 10-20 members. (including instrumentalists)

Time- 10-15 minutes.

The use of any electronic or pre-recorded sounds is not allowed.

The use of microphones, speakers, mics etc. Is prohibited.

Language- english and/or hindi.

Any act involving the use of fire is strictly prohibited.

There should be minimum use of props. Teams must carry their

own props; the organizing committee will not provide

anything.

The act should contain a social message.

Marks will be deducted for vulgarity, obscene dialogues/scenes

and for exceeding the above mentioned time limit.

Fashion show

Only one team from the same college is allowed.

A team can have 10- 14 members. Assistants for light & sound-2

members (excluding participants).

Time limit for every team would be 15 minutes (curtain to

curtain, including setup and the

Performance both). There will be negative marking for teams

exceeding time limit.

Theme selection is open to the team.

Stage with ‘i’ shaped extension will be provided. Both the stage

& ramp; extension may be used as walking ramp.

Every college has to bring the music track for their performance

in a pen drive/cd/device connectable with an aux wire in mp3

format.

Introductory write up about the theme should be submitted by

the team prior to the performance.

Props such as cigarettes, wine bottles or lightning fire etc. Are

not allowed and will lead to disqualification.

Vulgarity is strongly prohibited.

Stand-up comedy

Performance can be individual, duo or in a group of

maximum four members.

Each participant/group shall be given 10 minutes of stage time

within which they have to conclude.

The use of any pre-recorded videos, audios or any other digital

medium is not permitted.

Props, if required, should be arranged by the participant.

Usage of vulgar language is highly discouraged and the same

will be rejected in the results.

Points will be deducted for exceeding the time limit.

Photography

Individual participation; no group work allowed.

Multiple entries from the same college are allowed

It is an on-the-spot competition, hence the theme will be

announced at the venue itself. The pictures should be clicked

inside the fest premises only.

The students should submit their pictures at the given time and

date and no late entries would be entertained.

Extempore

From each college, one team comprising of two participants (of

which one shall be the orator) shall be allowed.

There will be two rounds in the event viz., the preliminary

screening round and the final round.

In the first round, participants shall be given a topic one

minute before the extempore.

The rules for the second round shall be announced on the spot.

Rangoli

It is a team event. However, lone wolves (individuals) are

welcome too

A team may have 1-3 members

Multiple people/ teams from an institute may take part

It is an on-the-spot competition, hence the theme will be

announced at the venue itself

Organizer will only provide the canvas. All other stationary

and tools has to be brought by the participant.

Participants will be given 1 hour to complete their artwork.

Teams causing any damage will be disqualified and will be

liable to pay for the damages.

Do not bite (copy) someone else work.

Treasure hunt

Minimum numbers of participants per team are to be 3 and

maximum should be 6.

The game would be conducted within campus grounds.

Only two teams will be allowed to register from one college.

Cross college teams are allowed.

Any use of game exploits, cheats, or any other play deemed

“unfair” by an admin may result in disqualification from the

tournament.

No foul language is allowed while playing.

Tampering with the clues or destroying the college property will

lead to disqualification as well as the participant will be liable

to pay for damages.

The format of the tournament depends on the number of

participants.

The use of internet is not permitted during the game.

You must rely on your team members only.

There is a time limit of 2 hrs for all the competing teams to find

the treasure. Find your team's coloured clue which will lead

you to next clue.

Master cheff

There will be a time limit of 1 hour.

No forms of alcohol or intoxicating ingredients are allowed for

any kind of preparation.

Participants are required to bring their own cutlery and

utensils.

Participants are required to bring all necessary ingredients for

cooking.

Cleanliness and hygiene of the participants workspace has to

be maintained at all time.

Pre-cooked items and ready mixes are not allowed.

There will be considerable negative marking if any precooked

ingredient is found in the presented dish.

Only participants will be allowed inside the venue of the

competition.

No storage/refrigeration is provided.

Cutting/peeling of fruits or vegetables to be done on spot.

All types of sauces are allowed.

All marination to be done on spot.

Each participant has to prepare 2 dishes minimum.

Usage of mobile phones will not be entertained.

No processed juice can be used.

Mad ad

It is a team event. Each team should have 4-5 members only.

Topics would be provided on the spot.

5 minutes preparation time for each team.

Time limit for the performing the advertisement is 1-2 minutes.

Participants shall be judged on the basis of spontaneity,

content, and adherence to the topic, on-stage presentation,

coordination and overall appeal of the advertisement.

The caution should be taken to refrain from displaying

obscenity, violence, prejudice, defamation etc. In

advertisement.

Poster making

It is an individual competition.

It is an on-the-spot competition, hence the theme will be

announced at the venue itself.

Each participant will be provided with a chart paper.

Organizer will not provide any stationary. Each participant

has to bring your own stationary.

Each participant will get 1 hour to complete their poster.

Entry must be contestant's original, hand done creation and

may not be trace from photographs or other artists' published

works.

The organizer has the full ownership and copyright of the final

poster.

Face painting

It is a team event. There can be only 2 participants in a team.

Maximum 3 groups from any institution can participate.

The theme will be revealed on-the-spot at the venue itself.

Participants have to bring their own stationary and colours

best suited for their ideas. Nothing will be provided by

organizors.

10 minutes will be provided to participants after disclosing the

theme to discuss and 25 minutes for painting.

Of the two participants, one will be painting his/her own face

while the latter will be guiding how to do so.

Uses of mirror, camera and/or any other reflective object are

grounds for disqualification.

Participants will be judged on the basis of their creativity,

innovation and design.
