THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God, yet again we acknowledge our sinfulness. Though you have made us for love, we have not loved. Though you have made us for community, we have broken the good fellowship you would give us. Though you have made us to be human, we have not lived up to our holy calling. We have been less than you would have us be. Forgive us, we pray. Remind us always of the high expectations you have for us and the even higher love with which you redeem us to fulfill expectations. We pray in the name of Jesus who loves us, Amen.

THE EPISTLE LESSON Romans 14:1-12 (page 152 in the pew Bible, NT)

THE CONCERNS OF THE CHURCH

(Visitors and members are invited to sign the blue friendship register pad and pass it down the pew.)

THE ANTHEM Hark, I Hear the Harp’s Eternal arr. Alice Parker Hark, I hear the harp’s eternal ringing on the farther shore, as I near those swollen waters, with their deep and solemn roar. Hallelujah, praise the Lamb, glory to the great I AM. And my soul though stained with sorrow, fading as the light of day, passes swiftly o’er those waters to the city far away. Refrain. Souls have crossed before me, saintly, to that land of perfect rest; and I hear them singing faintly in the mansions of the blest. Refrain.

One Gray Hair resumes on Wednesday, September 20 at noon in Fellowship Hall. Our program will be presented by Art Sweum, Sweum Family: Norway to America. Come join us as we enjoy food and each other’s company, as well as an interesting program about one family’s journey to America. Please RSVP to [email protected] if you wish to attend.

The time is fast approaching and we don’t want you to miss out on this unforgettable experience. Join us for a family friendly experience at Montreat from Friday, October 20 to Sunday, October 22. The Reverend Paul Roberts, President of Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary will be our guest speaker. Please pick up a registration form in the Narthex and return your completed form with an attached check to the office.

We need our community to spread the word that we have one PreK student opening here at Morningside Presbyterian Preschool. We are seeking to fill this spot as soon as possible. Tell your friends and neighbors that we have an opening for a PreK student in our warm and nurturing program.

Support the Preschool by eating dinner at El Taco N. Highland on Tuesday, September 26. Be sure to tell El

Taco you are with the Preschool as they then give a percentage of the evening’s profits to the school’s programs.
