Principal’s Page Winter is Here

This week we’ve done some of celebrations for Reconciliation Week : see the great poster

elsewhere in Jinga and also Dawn’s amazing weaving. Come and see them in the front foyer

of the school if you wish. This week Aileen and Maureen Mongta will do a "Secret Garden"

activity which centres around Aboriginal knowledge and stories around traditional yams, the

use of cultural burning, along with foods and use of grasses for weaving .

Much else is happening in the school including excellent work in grade three and four in

Design and Technology in planning play ground improvements, excellent reading instruction

in primary, independent reading in secondary, and high scores in VCE Physics practice ex-

ams.

Great work in the last weeks with teach-

ers in our Professional Learning Teams

( PLTS) Our teams are

Literacy , Humanities, Design and Tech-

nology, Physical Education and Design and

Technology. This is where teachers share

practice, discuss research and student

work and help work with each other to

plan curriculum. Teachers are observing

each others teaching and having very in-

depth discussion about how to ensure all

students are learning. Assessments are

being concluded and hopefully mid term

reports will show each student is making

the expected progress.

Photos— Media students discuss projects

on new furniture.

A wild storm cloud crosses the school last

week– winter is here!

Inter school Cross Country

Last Monday Chloe Henderson and Beau Whitford travelled to Lakes Entrance for the Inter

School cross country. Chloe had a fantastic run and finished second in the U15 girls. Beau

also had a good run and finished strong over the last kilometre. Both students should be

very proud of their efforts.

Well done guy’s.

9/10 TIKI MUGS

In 9/10 Art, the students have been working hard in

following the art process to create their own Tiki

designs and make a mug out of clay.

All students were introduced to various ceramic

techniques in constructing and decorating their Tiki

mugs, which as you can see, has led to a collection of

brilliant designs.

The mugs are in the process of drying out at the

moment, but we are going to fire them in the kiln later

on in the week.

VCE OE Walking in the Cann River

On June 5th the VCE Outdoor Education class of Dechlan, Anna, Chloe, Saraskia, Shanise, Adon and Mrs Spink explored the Cann River south of the bridge. The students had planned the activity,

completed risk assessments, planned a route and checked the weather. The aim was to walk down the river until the confluence with Jimm’s Creek. But the river was a little higher and colder then what had been planned and consequently the walking rate was a little slower. We managed about 5 kms rather than the hoped for 7kms. The group walked very well together checking areas that were slippery, and bravely crossing the river in somewhat chilly conditions.

Committee of Management Vacancies

The Committee of Management currently have a vacancy.

We are actively seeking community members to apply for this important community position.

The committee desires to reflect the diversity of this community and therefore we appeal to the

younger generation (18 years and over) in our community, to bring a fresh perspective to the

committee. This is an excellent opportunity for you to gain business management insight and

experience. You may be surprised how valued you would be, and how much you could bring to the

centre!

New members would be given the full support of the current members and would not find it difficult to

contribute.

The Centre is a dynamic and important function of our community and continually strives to improve.

The Committee of Management meets once a month and usually the meetings are routine and of short

duration but they are important. The Committee monitors the accounts, Policy and Procedure and is a

conduit to the community.

A police check is necessary (which the centre would pay for) and an introductory package can be

obtained from the office.

For further information, feel free to contact Michael O’Brien on 0427 394 269.

Join and share the pride in this excellent centre.
