Pastor Kent Munsey The Journey of a Vision

Introduction: Vision Sunday is a special annual service in which Pastor Kent discusses Gods vision for City Church. In a presentation-style format, Pastor Kent discusses where we have travelled over the course of the past year, and what we can expect as we move forward and transition into a new year.

    Key Scripture:

Then the LORD answered me and said: Write the vision. And make it plain on tablets, That he

may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not

    tarry.

    Habbakuk 2:2-4 NKJV

    Main Text:

The prophet Habakkuk was living in a time of injustice and controversy throughout the land. In this text, Pastor Kent explains the 5 key elements that are present on the journey of a vision from God:

  • 1.) BURDEN: Gods vision will always begin with a

burden. We feel a sense of spiritual heaviness (or weight). When we feel that inner conflict about something, it could very well mean that God is going to implant a vision in our life.

2.) VISION: From there, the burden will turn to a vision, meaning that this will become something more tangible. We can start to see Gods vision.

3.) CLARITY: After we have seen the vision, God refines what we have seen to make it clearer and plainer.

4.) RUNNING: After we have a clear understanding of the vision, its time to run with the Lord. In this stage we have to remember that our race is not a sprint, but it is a marathon. It may take time, but it will take perseverance to see the vision completed. When it gets difficult, we cant run away from the vision. Instead, that is when it is most important that we must run toward it.

5.) TIMING: Wait for it. This is the point in which we have to have the most patience and discipline. We have to tarry with God. As the old saying goes, good things come to those who wait. We have to understand that the vision is set for a specific point, and for a specific time. God is working, and He is working within a timeframe that He has set in motion.

  • Conclusion:

God has a vision for each and every one of our lives. God has a vision for our personal life. God has a vision for our relationships. God also has vision for our families. We have to embrace the burden that precedes the vision, seek God for clarity of the vision, run diligently with the Lord toward the vision, and have patience with God and wait for His timing for the vision to come to fruition.
