So we’re thrilled to be in a position to give back and help students who could not otherwise afford to go to Washington U.—and to help the university remain competitive.” Judy and Jerry established the Kent Scholars Program at Olin Business School in 2009. The program awards five, four-year scholarships per year— one through a merit-based competition, and four based on both merit and financial need. After graduating from Olin, Jerry went on to co-found Charter Communications. Today he is co-founder, president, and CEO of the telecommunications firm Cequel III, LLC. He serves on the university’s Board of Trustees and the Olin National Council. “Of the three things we need to invest in to succeed—facilities, faculty and students—financial support to attract top-notch students from around the world is the most underserved,” he says. “It’s just tremendously important to invest in incoming students by helping to make their education affordable.” The Judy and Jerry Kent Scholarship Challenge Kent Scholar Jonathan Way, BSBA Class of 2016. The Judy and Jerry Kent Scholarship Challenge

udy and Jerry Kent have made a new $2 million commitment to enhance the Kent Scholars Program at the Olin Business School and establish a challenge fund to encourage others

to increase annual scholarship support at Olin. Every participating gift will support Leading Together: The Campaign for Washington University.

Nearly 50 percent of undergraduate and graduate business students today need financial assistance to attend Olin Business School. Scholarships help to ensure that no deserving student will miss the opportunity for a top-tier education at Washington University.

Scholars in Business annual scholarships may be established with gifts of $5,000 or more. They provide support for the current academic year and may be renewed. Scholarships may be named in honor or in memory of a friend or loved one.

Endowed scholarships may be established with a gift or pledge of $100,000 or more. The principal is invested to provide scholarship support in perpetuity. By encouraging talented men and women from a wide range of backgrounds to attend Olin, scholarships strengthen every aspect of the school and its academic programs.
