the people joined together in one continuous band. “One cannot fall without the other.”
1885, is the year Fairfield Baptist Church was founded.
Unity, Strength, Peace, Vision, are all written words of the symbolic representations.
Colors: Royal Blue, our church color, represents royalty and healing. It is a heavenly color, a holy covering;
Gold, (Amber), demonstrates God’s Glory and His overbearingly bright and immediate presence; Blue and
Gold, colors of a holy garment described in Exodus 28:1-5; White, as always represents purity and righteous-
ness; and Green, signifies life.
“...guarding the truth”, are words taken from the Mission Statement of Fairfield Baptist Church.
Note: The Eagle is displayed as “guarding” those standards of the Church/Christianity that the world attacks.
November 6, 2011 Volume 1, Issue 2
The Cross is the universal
symbol of Christian Faith. It is
slightly rugged to underscore
the struggle through the years
that Fairfield has upheld the princi-
ples of Christianity.
The Eagle symbolizes resurrection,
renewal, strength, protection
and power. The Eagle’s
Eye captures vision, the
ability to see or observe with
exceptional keenness.
The Dove, represents the Holy
Spirit in Christianity because
the Holy Spirit descended
upon Jesus Christ like a
dove when He was baptized
in the River Jordan. It also
represents gentleness, purity and the
messenger. The Olive Branch
(carried by the Dove) symbolizes
peace; gesture of conciliation or
goodwill. “All is Well”. The Circle
surrounding the Dove and Olive
Branch represents unity, oneness,
togetherness, connectivity, whole-
ness; eternity.

“Thanks” to each Veteran and their family member for their
personal sacrifice. Our country would not be the same if it
were not for your service. On Sunday, November 13th, we
are asking each “Veteran” to celebrate this occasion by
wearing a tasteful service-branch item to support this cause.
In addition, please keep “Fairfield Baptist Church” troops
and family members in your prayers. We are asking for
your highest prayers for their salvation, and protection of
their mind and limbs as they serve our country.
As a reminder, the Golden Corral will give a “free meal” to
all Veterans on Monday November 14th. Other restaurants
and vendors normally give some level of support doing this
holiday season to our Veterans.
The Veterans Support Committee meets once per month
on the second Thursday. Point of Contact is Min. Eddie
Alford Sr. 678-328-7888.

The Book of Colossians is
one of the least read and
least referenced epistles of
Paul, yet it carries a very im-
portant message to Chris-
tians. It infuses Christ into
our Christian life and con-
trasts what followers are and
“Becoming an Authentic Christian”
are not. In just four short chapters,
Paul warns the people in Co-
losse against errors of decep-
tive philosophies, legalism,
self-ascribed punishment,
phoneism and negativism. He
encouraged them to abandon
sins, cultivate virtues, pray
and witness, attend to the
family, forgive and love, be
kind and compassionate, seek
Christ and honor God. Like the people in Colosse,
many of us want to believe in
the truth of Christianity while
hanging on to old beliefs and
trying to make them a part of
the gospel. If this is your strug-
gle, prayerfully read the entire
Book of Colossians and learn
how God operates in our daily
lives. Pay close attention to
Colossians 1:9-11 where Paul
outlines five steps to spiritual
growth: knowing God’s will,
spiritual wisdom, worthy living,
bearing good fruit and growth
in knowledge of God. Be a
total Christian and not merely
a title Christian!
Living the Word Pastor Micheal Benton
“Spell ABLE”
Years ago, when confronted
with an opportunity or a ven-
ture that required money,
momentum or muscle, I recall
hearing the respondent say-
ing, “I’ll do it as soon as I can
spell able”. This was to sug-
gest that they were not pres-
ently capable of fulfilling the
charge. In reality, it is pro-
crastination at best, or just an
empty excuse for doing noth-
ing.
How many times have we
deprived ourselves of specific
needs or desires under the
self-declared assertion that
we are not quite up to the
task? Too often, we under-
use our potential or live be-
neath our privileges waiting
for miracles that we do not
even believe in. We short-
change ourselves because we
dare not trust our own abili-
ties. A dream deferred quickly
becomes just a dream.
If you have a secret ambition,
heartfelt desire, or just good
intentions to fulfill a lifelong
aspiration, go for it! Start spell-
ing “able” a new way...A-B-L-
E...Act Before Life Ends! Re-
member, there is no redemp-
tion from the grave, but the
graveyards are full of untapped
potential.
I’m Just Saying First Lady Y’Vonne Benton
dined and Pastor Benton opened gifts. Upon arriving
back at the office, duty called. Pastor Benton had to
immediately leave for a revival in Alabama and the
staff returned to work. Limousine services were pro-
vided by Nealey Executive Limousine Services which
is owned by Brother Cedric Nealey, a FBC member.
National Boss Day which is usually celebrated on the
16th of October fell on Sunday this year. Upon arriving at
the office on Monday, Pastor Benton was surprised to
see a limo waiting to take him to lunch. He, along with
his fulltime executive staff, enjoyed a ride through down-
town Atlanta prior to having lunch at Houston’s on
Peachtree Road. The group was met by Brother Leo
Patterson who was in the area and joined them for
lunch. Fun was had by all as they celebrated their boss,
"The smallest things become great when God requires them of us; they are small only in themselves; they are always great when they are done for God, and when
they serve to unite us with Him eternally.” ~ François Fénelon

“How to Make it Through Hard Times”
From the Book of Philippians
Chapter 1-Prayer: “Christ our Life”
Chapter 2-Mind of Christ: “Christ our Mind”
Chapter 3-Knowledge of Christ: “Christ our Goal”
Chapter 4-Peace of Christ: “Christ our Strength”
Journey through the Bible
We often hear the Saints testify
that, “God has brought us a
mighty long way”. No true
believer takes issue with this
statement, but true believers
simply confirm it in their own
personal style. The question therefore be-
comes, how do we leverage
this belief to overcome current
and future challenges? We
simply must exercise our
faith…As we mature in our
Christian walk, we find that we
no longer feed on “Mustard
Seed” faith, but instead, on faith
that has already strengthened
us to endure and overcome
previous obstacles. As satan attempts to destroy
us with his darts of declining
health, financial burdens, family
conflict, career challenges, edu-
cational obstacles or pain from
friendships gone bad, our faith and knowledge of who God is
and what he has already done,
provides the courage and in-
centive to overcome the wiles
of the devil. God’s word has
taught us that he won’t put
more on us than we can bear,
that he is with us always and if
we just hang in there, he will
deliver us again and again. “And
David said to Solomon his son, Be
strong and of good courage, and
do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the Lord God, even my God,
will be with thee; he will not fail
thee, nor forsake thee, until thou
hast finished all the work for the
service of the house of the
Lord.” (I Chronicles 28:20)
When storm clouds appear,
they serve a purpose of prepa-
ration. They remind us to keep
our focus on God and not the
storm. We know he is a God
that has the power to imme-
diately arrest a storm, just like
when Christ responded to his
frighten disciples and com-
manded the storm with
…“peace be still”. When we
continue to walk and talk with
God, we will receive that sustainable faith to overcome
any mountain and we will
address the devil and declare
during the storm that this
too….. will pass. When we
exercise our faith, our Chris-
tian lives will exemplify our
belief that, “I can do all things
through Christ who strength-
ens me”!! “(For the Lord thy
God is a merciful God;) he will
not forsake thee, neither destroy
thee, nor forget the covenant of
thy fathers which he sware unto
them. (Deuteronomy 4:31)

Health Tip
From the Nurses Guild... Diabetes and Meals
The timing of your meals is important
for keeping a healthy blood sugar
level. Eat regular meals of healthy
food such as lean protein, leafy
greens, whole grains and berries to
keep your blood glucose steady
throughout the day. Going too long
without eating causes your blood
sugar to fall, resulting in fatigue, irrita-
bility, and sometimes loss of con-
sciousness. Eat small amounts of food
every few hours to keep yourself sat-
isfied and to keep your blood sugar at
an appropriate level.
