EN DONDE ESTA ASTERIX¿En dónde está Asterix? is a popular cartoon about a hero who lived around 50 B.C. Follow Asterix, Obelix, and his friends and visit some of the greatest ancient civilizations. We will describe the tribe (practicing our Spanish to describe the inhabitants of a small village) and head into fun adventures around the countries conquered by the Romans and also around the New World, Asia, and other exciting destinations. We will speak as much Spanish as possible during these exciting adventures.

THE FUNNY FARMERSDo you like to laugh? Do you like making other people laugh? The Funny Farmers is just for you. It’s Lamplighter’s own version of Saturday Night Live! INTRO TO STEMTap into your imagination with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as: Boats, Snowmobiles, Catapults, and Merry-Go-Rounds. Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. There are no prerequisites for this course.

LA MARCHE!La Marche! French families love to go to the market. So let’s go together! Through songs, games, and fun activities, we’ll learn French words for different foods. We will create a little sketchbook with our favorite foods, “salé” or “sucré”? We may even laugh about some foods we do not like! After that, we will prepare the famous recipe of ratatouille, a delicious French specialty! “Bon Appétit !”

Children will divide their time between solo lessons with their respective instruments/voice, as well as learning music theory and music history. They will prepare solo and duo memorized repertoire. Students will

have access to beautiful recitals, fun festivals, and concerts, while developing their self-esteem and building confidence. Children are taught easy lullabies, memorization techniques, reading skills, and lively rhythms to aid their learning. Soon, your children will be playing well-known melodies for all the family to enjoy. The most important thing is to make expressive, beautiful music, while having fun learning a new instrument! Violin students are required to bring their own instrument to class.

SOLAR ROBOTICSIn this course students harness the power of the sun as they build solar powered robots using Technic LEGO® robotics kits. FELIX AND FRIENDSDo you ever wonder how kids in France live? In this class, we will live and learn like French kids! Felix is a kid journalist and through his blog, we will learn French by discovering his life. We will play fun games, take part in exciting activities, and learn songs. Discover the games they play at the park, their favorite animals, and how they spend a day at school. Come with us on an adventure to explore the country of France and learn French!

CLASSICAL BALLETThis class lays a foundation for those students who are ready to learn the principles and beginning technique of ballet and music theatre through introducing basic beginning ballet steps in center time and across the floor. Basic stretches and terminology are also introduced. All of this is presented through a fun and imaginative teaching style along with engaging music so that the students can learn in a creative but disciplined setting. Introduction of the barre as well as simple choreography is also taught to introduce the students to the next level and prepare them for a musical dance performance.

CHESS – BEGINNERThis class is for students with little or no Chess experience. This class will focus on introducing Chess to younger students and encouraging them as they take their first steps. The goal is to play a full game and understand the objectives.

COCINA LATINAGet ready to prepare salsas, guacamole, tacos, corn esquites, and other delicious dishes! Learn the names of the ingredients and cooking steps in Spanish. Make some traditional foods from scratch, mixing modern and pre-Hispanic cooking techniques. For fun, consider adding some crunchy grasshoppers to some of our dishes to get your load of carbs!

DRONESDrones is a great starter course that teaches younger students how to build, fly, and program a drone. Students first focus on the basics in maneuvering using a controller, then learn how to program the drones to conduct specific aerial maneuvers. Class activities include rescue missions and aerial racing, both individually and in teams. Minimum 5 students.

FRENCH WITH BUN E. BONIFACE AND FRIENDSYour child will be immersed in French culture and la langue francaise through story, art, and song – wonderful ways to learn and retain vocabulary and syntax. Using a multi-sensory approach, children will decode sounds and symbols into concepts relevant to their world. Returning students will reinforce and build on existing French vocabulary, phases, and comprehension. New students will receive a copy of the author’s bilingual book/CD to support language acquisition and to reinforce learning outside the classroom. Those with a healthy curiosity and a desire to have fun while learning will enjoy this creative and interactive class! Students must be 4 years old by August 31.

VIRTUAL REALITYJoin us for VR explorations using activities through zSpace. Students will be able to explore their interests in a distinctly immersive and interactive way. Explore anatomy, habitats, robotics, and different planets, and learn how gravitational forces on various planets and planetary objects differ. Come discover a unique way to learn!

WHO IS DOCTOR WHO?The world famous Lamplighter Doctor Who club continues its operations this Fall with favorite episodes, Classic and New! We’ll write new entries into the ever-growing Lamplighter episode guide, have some deep dive discussions about the show, and (hopefully) meet some WHO celebs at the Dallas Fan Days!

YOGA AND MINDFULNESSThis class will involve basic yoga poses based on stories about animals. We will learn how to relax, quiet the mind, and stretch while listening to music. The school will provide mats and the students will have time for a quick snack brought from home. There will be activities to accompany the day’s lessons such as a journal entry. Students must be 4 years old by August 31. This is a 10-week class, ending on November 4.

BALLET WITH TEXAS BALLET THEATERTexas Ballet Theater School provides a complete training program for both recreational dancers, as well as those aspiring to be professionals. The highly-skilled and professionally trained teachers provide the highest level of instruction, using elements and influences from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) curriculum. Minimum 6 students.

CHEF SHOW AND TELLLooking to expand your children’s palate and introduce them to new flavors from afar? In this hands-on cooking course, children will take a culinary tour around the world without ever leaving the Lamplighter campus. Whether it’s making homemade ravioli while exploring the foods of Italy, smelling the spices from the open markets in Morocco, or flipping tortillas from the tapas restaurants in Spain, each week a new country will be introduced, focusing not only on the food, but the culture and history that makes it unique. Help your children gain confidence in the kitchen as well as knowledge about the world around us through food in this interactive and exciting course!

FASHIONISTA PROJECT RUNWAY - FROM CAROLINA HERRERA TO OSCAR DE LA RENTAYou might be a fashionista and not know that some of the most influential designers actually stem from Latin roots. Be ready to design zapatos, pantalones, vestidos, and even a wedding dress inspired by the most iconic Latin designers, such as Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, and Manolo Blahnik. Be ready to model the designs in our catwalk.

LEGO® WEDO ROBOTICSThis course teaches important but simple machines concepts using LEGO® robotics kits. Students will learn basic physical science concepts such as gears, pulleys, levers, and wheels and axles through observation, reasoning, prediction, critical thinking, and a discovery-based approach. Working individually, in pairs, or small groups, students will utilize their skills to create moving models, all while enhancing their creative and problem-solving abilities and building collaboration, teamwork, and communication skills. This class develops science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) knowledge while incorporating lessons in computational thinking, engineering principles and language arts in a fun and engaging way. Minimum 5 students.

A RIDE WITH ROUGELLE THE LADYBUGLearn an introduction to French with Rougelle the Ladybug! A TASTE OF A FEW FRENCH TALESOur young Francophiles will continue to build French vocabulary and comprehension through an interactive immersion into the classic fairy tales of French author Charles Perrault, such as Le Petit Chaperon Rouge and Le Chat Botte. Activities will include craft, role-playing, and song… and tasting French food relevant to these tales. Bun E. Boniface will also share his new adventures with the children! WALKSTEMThe walkSTEM initiative is an exciting series of experiences growing in a number of different sites in Dallas, from Fair Park to the Dallas Arts District, from Love Field airport to the Arboretum. The initiative is grounded in the belief that every space is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) space and every child is a STEM child. Now, Lamplighter students will have the opportunity to create their own walkSTEM experience on our campus. Students in this class will develop their unique STEM identity by observing and questioning their real- world environment and uncovering the connections between STEM and the arts, nature, design, humanities, and more! They will collaborate to develop a walkSTEM tour on the Lamplighter campus, asking and answering STEM-themed questions about objects and structures they interact with on a daily basis. Program participants will lead a live tour as a culminating event, in addition to creating a self-guided version using a multimedia approach. Parents will be invited to attend this culminating experience in December. Minimum 5 students.

CALENDARIO EN ESPAÑOLCalendario en Español "juntos todo el año tú y yo.” Start the year 2020 with an original calendar to share with your family! Students will work on fun art projects to produce a calendar with pictures of drawings, paintings, and other activities for every month of the year. Some months will have pictures of collective art projects, while others will be pictures of your child’s work. Each calendar will be unique and special. We will speak and listen to songs in Spanish and learn some vocabulary regarding the different seasons and aspects of each month.

CHEERFUL HEARTS DANCE & CHEERHands on your hips, smile on your lips, cheer in your heart…Ready to start! The goal of this class is to enable young students to realize their potential while enhancing confidence and self-esteem. This class will focus on basic skills and moves in dance and cheer. Students will learn the importance of teamwork and develop positive social interactions as they learn the foundations of dance and cheer! Minimum 8 students.

COOK-A-BOOK!Children's literature is full of references to foods and other ideas that can inspire cooking activities for young students. In each session we will read a children's story and create something yummy related to the story. Cooking is an important teaching and developmental tool, helping your children to develop pride and confidence in their abilities, as well as learn how to organize ingredients, follow a sequence, and carry out multiple directions. JUNIOR CIRCUITSThe Junior Circuits curriculum is designed to give kids an introduction to the basics of electricity, circuit design, and the flow of electric current. WALKSTEMThe walkSTEM initiative is an exciting series of experiences growing in a number of different sites in Dallas, from Fair Park to the Dallas Arts District, from Love Field airport to the Arboretum. The initiative is grounded in the belief that every space is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) space and every child is a STEM child. Now, Lamplighter students will have the opportunity to create their own walkSTEM experience on our campus. Students in this class will develop their unique STEM identity by observing and questioning their real- world environment and uncovering the connections between STEM and the arts, nature, design, humanities, and more! They will collaborate to develop a walkSTEM tour on the Lamplighter campus, asking and answering STEM-themed questions about objects and structures they interact with on a daily basis. Program participants will lead a live tour as a culminating event, in addition to creating a self-guided version using a multimedia approach. WALKSTEMThe walkSTEM initiative is an exciting series of experiences growing in a number of different sites in Dallas, from Fair Park to the Dallas Arts District, from Love Field airport to the Arboretum. The initiative is grounded in the belief that every space is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) space and every child is a STEM child. Now, Lamplighter students will have the opportunity to create their own walkSTEM experience on our campus. Students in this class will develop their unique STEM identity by observing and questioning their real- world environment and uncovering the connections between STEM and the arts, nature, design, humanities, and more! They will collaborate to develop a walkSTEM tour on the Lamplighter campus, asking and answering STEM-themed questions about objects and structures they interact with on a daily basis. Program participants will lead a live tour as a culminating event, in addition to creating a self-guided version using a multimedia approach. Parents will be invited to attend this culminating experience in December. Minimum 5 students.

JUNIOR CIRCUITSThe Junior Circuits curriculum is designed to give kids an introduction to the basics of electricity, circuit design, and the flow of electric current. Students work hands-on with circuit components to practice and build their own tangible results using switches, resistors, LEDs, light switching sensors, touch sensors, buzzers, potentiometers, blinkers, and faders. Kids will use their problem solving and critical thinking skills as they try to figure out digital circuits, piano circuits, drum circuits and much more. Students will also learn basic logic gates. WALKSTEMThe walkSTEM initiative is an exciting series of experiences growing in a number of different sites in Dallas, from Fair Park to the Dallas Arts District, from Love Field airport to the Arboretum. The initiative is grounded in the belief that every space is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) space and every child is a STEM child. Now, Lamplighter students will have the opportunity to create their own walkSTEM experience on our campus. Students in this class will develop their unique STEM identity by observing and questioning their real- world environment and uncovering the connections between STEM and the arts, nature, design, humanities, and more! LEGO® WEDO ROBOTICSThis course teaches important but simple machines concepts using LEGO® robotics kits. WALKSTEMThe walkSTEM initiative is an exciting series of experiences growing in a number of different sites in Dallas, from Fair Park to the Dallas Arts District, from Love Field airport to the Arboretum. The initiative is grounded in the belief that every space is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) space and every child is a STEM child. Now, Lamplighter students will have the opportunity to create their own walkSTEM experience on our campus. Students in this class will develop their unique STEM identity by observing and questioning their real- world environment and uncovering the connections between STEM and the arts, nature, design, humanities, and more! They will collaborate to develop a walkSTEM tour on the Lamplighter campus, asking and answering STEM-themed questions about objects and structures they interact with on a daily basis. Program participants will lead a live tour as a culminating event, in addition to creating a self-guided version using a multimedia approach. JUNIOR CIRCUITSThe Junior Circuits curriculum is designed to give kids an introduction to the basics of electricity, circuit design, and the flow of electric current. Students work hands-on with circuit components to practice and build their own tangible results using switches, resistors, LEDs, light switching sensors, touch sensors, buzzers, potentiometers, blinkers, and faders.
