Mayor’s Memo

The Committee was formed last year, and its members are appointed annually by the Mayor with the consent of the governing body. The mission of the Committee is to provide an avenue of information about borough happenings, events, activities, governmental action, and the dissemination of facts relating to the Borough of Freehold. Marc Levine is chairman of the Committee, and Councilman Jaye Simms is Counncil liaison. Other members of the committee are Alan Goldberg, Kevin Asadi, Anthony DiFlumeri, and Lisa Schofield, Lisa Kristiansen and Mike Rosseel. The committee meets at 6:30 p.m. at Borough Hall on the second Tuesday of every month, The public is invited to attend.

want to first take this opportunity to thank all of the many volunteers who devote their time and talent to making Freehold a better community. I would particularly like to commend the CIC for its contributions to this new Inewsletter, which I anticipate will be an enjoyable avenue for keeping all the residents informed about what is

happening in our community. Though the newsletter is created by highly talented and devoted private individuals, members of the CIC committee will continue to provide input to make it relevant and informative.Speaking of volunteers, Freehold Borough is thriving with numerous residents who are generous with their time and talent, and there are still some spots open for a variety of committees and commissions. We therefore invite you to visit our first Volunteer Fair, occurring on Saturday, September 25, from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Hall of Records Parking Lot; rain location is at the Park Avenue School. This event will also feature other borough entities in need of volunteers.

I encourage you all to learn more about each available volunteer opportunity, and match your interests, talents and skills to benefit the borough and give yourself an opportunity to be a more integrated part of Freehold. The Borough Council believes it is in the best interests of the taxpayers of the Borough to foster open government and provide citizens with information and opportunities to serve on the various appointed municipal positions that exist within the Borough of Freehold. The Borough Clerk maintains a Register of Appointed Municipal Positions so every resident can have an opportunity to volunteer on a committee which interests them. So stop in at Borough Hall during regular business hours, or visit www.freeholdboro.org. If you have any suggestions or news, please contact the editor of The Lantern.
