Pre-K in KindergartenOur pre-kindergarten students took a step into the future when they visited Ms. Betsy and Mrs. T for “A Taste of Kindergar-ten.” On the agenda was storytime with The Itsy Bitsy Spider; everyone received his or her own copy of the poem in a Pre-K sized book. There was also a project using opposites and an accompanying sticker book. In addition, the students made spiders using clay and pipe cleaners. The culmination of the visit was Ms. Joan’s hand decorated spider cookies.

Second Grade Collaboration

Ms. Rotholz’s assignment: make a character poster based on a character’s name drawn from a bag. Students partnered with other students who chose the same name, then traced one of their bodies on a large sheet of butcher paper. After drawing the features, students used markers to ”dress” the character. The final step was writing a short description.

Mitzvah Projects: We are so excited to commence two incredible mitzvah projects in time for the holidays!1. Ms. Grettel is overseeing a food drive in the

toddler and nursery classes for a Thanksgiving food bank. Watch out for info to learn what foods are needed, and when and where they will be collected.

2. For Hanukkah we will join forces again with JAFCO for a Holiday Toy Drive. Watch for an e-mail to follow with more info.

Next meeting: Wednesday, December 2, 8:45am. We can hardly wait to hear Ms. Judi Fishkin facilitate a discussion on our very first Book Club selection, Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum. If you haven't started reading, you still have time! See you then!
