Job Posting
Job Title: Outreach Librarian
Supervised by: Head of Adult Services/Head of Youth Services
Supervises: No supervisory responsibility
Full time position shared by the Adult Services and Youth Services team.
Includes evening and weekend hours.
Job summary:
• Provides business and youth outreach services, including attendance at
local chamber business gatherings, LegUP! meetings, and local
LibraryBizConnect meetings, as well as delivery of youth outreach
materials, interaction with outreach partner agencies including the
county health department and local food banks, and provision of
preschool story time programming at Head Start and Great Start
Readiness Program locations.
• Works regularly scheduled adult and youth desk shifts, providing
reference, computer, and readers advisory assistance
• Responsible for collection selection of business and career materials and
assigned youth materials
• Represents the Library at local conferences, fairs, and events
• Plans and facilitates occasional youth and/or adult programs
• Assists with minor troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment,
including printers, copiers and computers
• Participates in team meetings, library-wide committees, and training
opportunities
• Performs related work as required
Summary of requirements:
• ALA-accredited MLS degree
• Current Michigan driver’s license
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment,
initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with the public and other
employees

Library Science Student Intern, Part-time
Job Title: Part-time Library Science Student Intern, 10+ hours/week, including some evenings and weekends
Department: Adult Services
Wage: $10.00 per hour
Duties:
Assist users of all ages according to our established customer service standards at each of our two
reference desks.
Assist users with print and media collections, digital services, and computer use.
Complete tasks and projects as assigned, including but not limited to, displays, program planning and
implementation, creation of bibliographic reference materials, and assisting with collection
maintenance.
Required Qualifications:
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree
Must be currently enrolled in a Masters of Library Science Program
Preferred Requirements
Completion of foundational Library Science Courses
