As part of the City National Bank Entrepreneur of the Year awards luncheon, The Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce this years recipients of the following awards, which will be presented at the April 3rd event.
Kingdom Partner Solutions LLC Community Spirit Award
The 2014 Kingdom Partner Solutions LLC Community Spirit Award will be presented to Ron & Nancy Piazza. This award was started five years ago by past chamber chairman Jim Eaton, to recog-nize an individual for his or her volunteer work and contributions to non-profit
organizations. Ron was instrumental in building a Ronald McDonald House, and Nancy participated at this years Dancing for Our Stars event benefiting Long Beach Memorial Medical Center Foundationwhere Ron also serves as a board member.
Holthouse Carlin & Van Trigt Corporate Citizen of the Year
Valero Energy Corporation, a Fortune 10 company, has been named the 2014 Holthouse Carlin & Van Trigt Corporate Citizen of the Year. This prestigious award was started six years ago by past chamber
chairman and HCVT Partner Blake Christian, to recognize the extraordinary contributions of time, talent and energy that a local company invested into the community with its leadership, serving on non-profit boards and giving financial support to local charities.
Valero is well known for its community funding, philan-thropy and community volunteer commitment. Valero supports several Long Beach charities/non-profits including the Long Beach Symphony, Long Beach Boys and Girls Club, International City Theatre and the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House.
Shaun Lumachi Rising Star Award The 2nd Annual Shaun Lumachi Rising Star award will be presented to Dayna Mance, owner of Long Beach based Prism Boutique. Dayna opened her womens clothing and jewelry store in Belmont Heights in March 2013 after a decade-long career working as an ex-ecutive with retail chains Anthropologie Inc. and Urban Outfitters Inc.
This award, started last year by the Small Business Development Center at Long Beach City College, will be given in memory of Shaun Lumachia visionary and a co-founder/co-publisher of the Long Beach Post who was tragically killed in an automobile accidentto recognize and celebrate the entrepreneurial and community spirit that Shaun embodied and his continued legacy.

Cal Worthington, founder of Long Beach-based Worthing-ton Ford, has been named the 2014 City National Bank Entre-preneur of the Year. He will be honored posthumously at the Chambers annual awards luncheon on Thursday, April 3rd at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach.
Cal Worthington was the lanky pitchman in the Stetson hat who became one of the most successful auto dealers in the west, with 23 deal-erships in Texas, California, Nevada, Washington and Alaska. He eventually sold most of them to focus on his flagship location in Long Beach and four other dealer-ships in the Anchorage, Alaska area. At the time of his passing, Cal was semi-retired in Orland, California, running his cattle ranch and producing one of the largest fruit crops in California.
Cal was a fixture on Southern California television, and be-came famous for his ads with a menagerie of live animalsbut never a dogall of whom he called my dog Spot!, said Randy Gordon, President/CEO of the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. Worthington Ford is a Long Beach success story that continues today. Cal had the vision, the business acumen, and entrepreneurial spirit to grow his dealership which has thrived for many decades, he continued.
City National has been supporting entrepreneurs in South-ern California for more than 60 years and we are proud to continue that tradition here in our two Long Beach branches, said Jim Haney, senior vice president and Commercial Banking
Services regional manager.Cals grandson Nick Worthington,
who manages Worthington Ford today, will accept the award on behalf of his grandfather.
The Chambers City National Bank Entrepreneur of the Year Luncheon is Thursday, April 3rd at
the Hyatt Regency Long Beach. The event begins at 10:30am with a networking exhibit. The award program will begin at 11:30 a.m. and feature keynote speaker Jim Haney, Senior Vice President & Regional Manager, Commercial Banking Services, City National Bank. Other major sponsors of the event are Long Beach Memorial Medical Center/Miller Childrens Hospital/Community Hospital Long Beach, Long Beach City College, and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
