Welcome

Opening Reading & Prayer

Hymn 234 O Come, All Ye Faithful Verse 1

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,

O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.

Come and behold Him, Born the King of angels;

O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Reading

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is

in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those

who trespass against us. And lead us not into temp-

tation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the king-

dom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Hymn #230 O Little Town of Bethlehem, Verse 1

O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie;

Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go

by.

Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting Light;

The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee to-

night.

The Story Begins … Luke 2:1-7

Hymn #217 Away in a Manger, Verses 1 & 2

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,

The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.

The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,

The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,

But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.

I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky

And stay by my side until morning is nigh.

The Story Unfolds … Luke 2:8-14

Hymn #240 Hark the Herald Angels Sing

Hark! The herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn

King;

Peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinner recon-

ciled!"

Joyful, all ye nations rise, join the triumph of the skies;

With th’angelic host proclaim, "Christ is born in Bethle-

hem!"

Hark! The herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn

King!"

The Story is Shared with the Least of These … Luke 2:15-30

Hymn #245 The First Noel, Verse 1

The first Noel the angel did say

Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay.

In fields where they lay keeping their sheep

On a cold winter’s night that was so deep.

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the King of Israel.

The Story is shared far and wide … Matthew 2:1-11

Hymn #254 We Three Kings

We three kings of Orient are bearing gifts we traverse

afar

Field and fountain, moor and mountain following yonder

star.

Oh, star of wonder, star of light, star with royal beauty

bright

westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to thy perfect

light.

Offering Response:

Hymn #219 What Child is This? Chorus only

This, this is Christ the King, whom shepherds guard and

angels sing

Haste, haste to bring him laud, the babe, the Son of

Mary.

Celebration of the Lord’s Supper

[We use unfermented grape juice.] We celebrate an open table:

Regardless of your background, if you’re seeking to love Jesus as best

you can, you are welcome to come. Small children may participate at the

discretion of their parents, or they may come forward for a blessing from

Pastor Cindy

As you leave Communion, you’ll find baskets available for your donations

to our Benevolent Fund. The fund helps area residents with food,

utilities, medicines, and other assistance. Many in Rochelle rely on this

congregation’s generosity, but please know you never have to give to

receive the Sacrament. Jesus has already paid that price.

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to the Lord

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

… And so, with your people on earth and all the company

of heaven we praise your name and join their unending

hymn:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heav-

en and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the

highest. Belssed is he who comes in the name of the

Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

… and so in remembrance of these your might acts in

Jesus Christy, we offer ourselves in praise and thanks-

giving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s

offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith

Christ has died; Christ has risen; Christ will come
