Due to the constraints of time and space, certain editorial decisions may be necessary.

God has always used His people “on a mission” to grow, strengthen and develop faith – theirs and others. We see it with people who go on na onal or foreign mission trips, with kids who par cipate in service projects, with members of Trinity who help out with “The Clinic” every November. Folks to “go and tell” in word and deed say “My faith was strengthened when I served God and others and told them about Jesus.” That’s our common experience.

In our Scripture lessons for today we see a simple truth: ““Going and Telling” in response to God’s command strengthens our in macy with God and helps us see His plan for our lives. And more. The strengthening of in macy and rela onship built on obedience to God’s command builds more in macy and a greater desire to follow God’s will. GGoing builds our faith and in macy with God and our in macy with God makes us want to “go” all the more.

When we feel we are not “good enough” or “strong enough” to follow this command of the Lord, this weekend’s Psalm encourages us more: GGod does not need our strength to accomplish His will. Instead “the Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love.” God sends. We go. He uses us to accomplish His will.

This greater connec on with God’s mission for our lives brings greater in macy. You see, connec on with God raises in macy with Him – and others. That’s why our mission as a church is to connect people in real, loving rela onship with God, through Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, with each other in a contagious Chris an community, and with their calling of servanthood in the world.

What has your experience been regarding the rela onship between ac ng on God’s mission and growing faith – and in macy with God? Can a Chris an fully develop their faith without “going and telling” others about their faith? Does following God’s mission require going into the foreign mission field or can we follow Him on mission in our homes and families and neighborhoods?

CHURCH COUNCIL NEWS

At the recommenda on of the Finance Commi ee, the Church Council voted to consolidate two loans for debt reduc on using 25% of the Stark Fund (as s pulated in the Trust) for a 10-year term at 4.50%. Savings due to refinancing will be over $800,000 allowing us to be debt- free within ten years versus sixteen years. The Council appreciates the Commi ee's hard work in nego a ng these savings.

In Memoriam Rogers L. Boly died on January 26, 2015 at the age of 78. His funeral service was held at Brust Funeral Home in Carol Stream. Burial was at Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst on January 30, 2015. For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).

This week in chapel Glen Kuck, the principal of St. Paul's, Aus n, in Chicago, will be leading worship to talk about Hearts for Jesus. This was our chapel mission project since Christmas and we missed him back on January 7th. Our offerings will support Hearts for Jesus for one more week. Please join us at 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday.

Will 2015 be the year you go on a mission trip? Will you be a prayer warrior for our missionaries who are in the field? Will you consider a child sponsorship? There are so many ways to serve the Lord! Take a few minutes to browse through the displays that are set up in the lobby. How is God calling you to get involved?

God has always used His people “on a mission” to grow, strengthen and develop faith – theirs and others.

“Going and Telling” in response to God’s command strengthens our in macy with God and helps us see His plan for our lives.

Going builds our faith and in macy with God and our in macy with God makes us want to “go” all the more.

God does not need our strength to accomplish His will.
