THE MERCY FVCKS

“We had a spiritual idea and we called it "The Mercy Fvcks" and… no no, this wasn’t the idea. Is a band, some kind of band, and you know the only member I’ve got, I haven’t a bassist or a guitarist. I’ve got a pool player named Mr. Brandon Novak.”Ville about the Mercy Fvcks

Maybe neither the member of this funny project know what all these things are for, anyway we are sure that we like it!Is a classic Villes’ feature, to keep a mistery fog

upon all his new project and I can say he reaches the goal very well!

Anyway in these days, someone (Ville or Novak?) was connetted into the myspace page deleting some friend and adding Jesse Valo, Villes’ brother who plays in the Vanity Beach.The page is real and not fan made,probably is owned by them

There’s much we’ve

already learned about

the charismatic HIM

frontman which was a

difficult task since he

is rather uptight

when it comes to

sharing private

insights behind his

tower-walls. So it’s

good we have our

“what do you hear

when...” column. So,

Ville, what do you

hear when...

... you are getting up?

The kettle while the

water for the first

coffee is boiling. I

never listen to music

in the morning. I need

some time to wake up.

As a teenager I had

myself woken up by

Cradle of Filth’s

“Dusk ... And her

embrace”

... you are showering?

I rarely take a shower.

I’d rather take a bath

and read a book. I like

the sound of water

and natural sounds

around me. I like to

take a rest especially

because I work so

much on music.

Listening to music

happens – like

everything else – at

times.

... you are doing

sports?

I still don’t do any

sport. Well, okay, a few

push-ups maybe but not

long enough to listen

to music. (laughs) In

the past while skating

maybe, but no, my days

of sporting are over.

(laughs)

... you are cooking?

I usually use the

microwave, that’s a bit

short for music. I just

hear “ping”. I don’t

cook. It’s a waste of

time , very expensive

and useless since I

don’t have anybody to

cook for. It’s nice in a

relationship. I’m not

good at it anyway.

Many people around

me are really good

chefs like Burton or

my mother. So I’d

rather not participate

in that competition.

INTERVIEW BY HIMI WITH THE DESIGNERS OF THE NEW HIM’S WEBSITES, THE AARDVARK BRIGADE.

So, how this beautiful idea of making pixels prettier born?In the third trimester of the aardvark calendar, there was birthed a small stout half-ling with the hands of a peasant and the eyes of a president. This noble soul had purpose and that purpose was defined in the universe of pixels and the Red the Green and the Blue. What kind of hardware/software do you use for your work?We mostly stick to Adobe's creative suite of applications for our design and production. Photoshop is the

heavyweight - gets used for everything from comping and illustrating to photo manipulation - and we also mix in some Illustrator and Flash for good measure too depending on the project.Tell us how was the whole develop of the HIM's myspace page...The Myspace page design had evolved from HIM's other online properties that we had also had the honor to work on, most specifically the website. We always try and keep a consistent online presence so that a user's experience is always solid and always leaves a lasting impression - so all of HIMs locations, Myspace, YouTube, and Website all carry a similar visual theme. To create that theme, we took these dark ominous inkspot

tones and textures to help pronounce the newly formed HIM Logo and create some distance between the previous heavily-gothic look and feel. The stark contrast and open space evoked a strong presence and complimented the new album artwork.Internet needs beauty or functionality?Both. Beauty without function is like a super hot girl or guy, but with the brains of a coconut. And all function and no beauty is like dating the smartest, and ugliest person in town. Why not get the best of both - We think great design is both beautiful, functional, and completely captivating.
