Our Vision
• The Meeting point is a dream of the non profit organization - Muslala and Peter J Maltz (me) that began in 2010 and is gradually becoming a reality.
• We act from the belief that the human diversity in Jerusalem can be a constructive and positive force. We believe that Jerusalem is a unique place were utopian ideas concerning peace mix daily with the down to earth day to day thus creating a real opportunity for meaningful dialogue. Our vision is to create an area were communities of all sorts will meet together.
• We chose an area in Musrara neighborhood to become an active garden were communities will meet and
learn of one each other through artistic and ecological experiences. • The land is registered under the Zalman Shazar foundation which has approved all of our activities there.
They also are part of our vision that there will be activities on a regular basis and that the garden will develop physically. ( such as planting trees, lighting, water, etc`)
• Since beginning our initiative many wonderful individuals and foundations have taken part in its realization such as : Ruach Tova Organization, The Jerusalem Foundation, Lichtag Foundation, Pratt Foundation, Bezalel academy , David Yalin Institute, The Israel museum, The Culture and Sport ministry and many incredible individual volunteers.
• Our aim is that the Meeting Point will become an all year round place of activity. Naturally we are looking
for substantial funding.

The area is part of the Musrara Neighborhood, next to the Old city wall and the Notre dam institute

I decided to create a sculpture on the site which will develop to become a meeting point for communities to come and learn of one each other through
experience and conversation.

In order to create the sculpture I published a notice in Jerusalem, inviting 12 people to take part in the creation of the sculpture. Each participant chose a spot to copy in
Jerusalem. The technique was simple, pressing clay to the area.

Into the clay we poured white cement to create 12 parts

A large circle sculpture consisting of all the parts was created – The meeting point
( on the left you can see the changes it is going through becoming more similar to local stone)

A 400 year old tree in the garden was saved by education students during the Good deeds day of 2012

During the Good deeds day 2013 Bezalel students volunteered to construct a sitting area around the sculpture

Between Green and Red was a unique festival that occurred in the garden during the summer of 2012. A construction was planned by Dr. David Behar which became a
meeting point where all communities could meet, enjoy watermelons, dancing, music and art. The project was a great success and is planned to be extended in the summer
of 2013 for a 6 week project.

300,000 nis have been raised already for the 2013 summer project from the 500,000 nis needed. Leichtag Foundation has guaranteed to match any
amount raised from other sources.

“To see a World in a Grain of Sand And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour “
