the whole school assembly.

The learners were dressed up in red and white clothes and showcased wonderful performances on different songs, dramatized with lovely expressions, gestures

and actions. This celebration reflected a sense of good cheer and connection to one and all. It was a great joy for everyone to see the learners take part merrily.

This day was held on 28th November 2019. All the learners were happy after having a successful academic term. The learners had carried snacks from home which they all shared among themselves during this closing day party. Sharing snacks was interesting and fun to the children as it portrayed care and love for one another.

Teachers also utilized the opportunity to elaborate the expectations of every child’s moral behavior while on holiday. They all held a day full of fun.

The first speaker, a pharmacist by profession, Ms Madhavi, had a special calling to serve the underprivileged and marginalised girls and women in our society in the form of providing menstrual hygiene. As architect of an organisation called ‘Padmad’ she provides reusable sanitary napkins to girls in this strata of our society in order to facilitate uninterrupted learning in school. What is most encouraging is that she has motivated boys and men to

OAM KindergartenPLAY GROUP: BUTTERFLY During class, the learners went to the field in search of butterflies. In groups, they spread their ‘wings’ freely like butterflies while spotting the real ones and admiring their vibrant colours. Later in the day, they painted some pretend paper cut-outs of butterflies. They had so much fun! This exercise helps learners to build their gross motor skills while connecting reality with practical learning to help build their mastery skills. During tasks, our teachers thrive to help develop active learners who create experiences through the day to day interaction with the environment and with their peers in play, classroom learning, and exploration.

Time for Brunch! This is Me, Me and My World! Our play group learner’s day could not have gone any better! The learners were enthusiastic and ready for their Exit Point: This is Me, Me and My World. They started their lovely day with a meet and greet session in class and later, out breathing the fresh air at the amphitheater for a formal brunch. They were all such good ladies and gentlemen! After a beautiful demonstration by their teachers about how to wash hands, dry them and dispose of paper towels after usage they sat down to pray. They were later served by their lovely teachers who role played as waitresses. Later in the day, they painted paper cut outs of keys; showing them the key to different rooms. They had a lot of fun with it!

Making learning fun!Entry Point: My Toy Shop – KG1 The kindergarten learners came to school with some recycled materials. They were set for their class project which included making a toy for their unit, My Toy Shop. The shop was quite busy as the learners assembled bottle tops, sticks, straws and tins to make the body of their pretend cars. Once installed, they attached a string to it at the toy shop. When the car was ready to debut it was driven out of the ‘showroom’ as it was time for the race. They learnt about the number four (they used four pretend wheels) while applying some gross motor skills. They had so much fun making their play cars. Some of the skills tested here include: enquiry, communication, cooperation and resilience.

Entry Point: Going Places – KG2 Our kindergarten learners are exploring their new unit: ‘Going Places’. They have been waiting for this! On this day, our learners brought their yummy homemade food to share with their peers. Before sharing the meal, they all displayed their beautiful cultural inspired outfits. Later, they showcased the meals they often serve at home and invited their peers to have a taste.

The sampling included a variety of foods from different regions and countries. While tasting, they learnt the various names of the foods and the accompaniments their peers brought to school.

In this unit, our learners learnt about communities and places. The learners were able to explore other cultures and learn about each other’s background. The unit, Going Places, explores the topic of culture. IEYC is built greatly on early literacy and how learners in kindergarten learn best.

The SRA Reading programs work by color-coding portions of reading materials based on the reading ability level required. Learners receive the colour-coded booklets from the teacher from the beginning of the term. Teachers give out the colour-coded booklets according to the reading level of a child.

Power Builders are the core of this program. Each SRA Reading Laboratory has more than 100 Power Builders, four-page booklets arranged in color-coded levels that keep our students challenged as they progress through the program.

Skill Builders provide reinforcement in basic comprehension, phonics, grammar, and word-study skills. Our students are directed to the Skill Builders to reinforce specific skills based on answers to the Power Builders.

SRA Reading Laboratory aids our students in directing their own learning, assessing own skills as they work their way up through the levels. Students are allowed to move to the next colour by showing consistent progress throughout their reading.

SRA Reading Laboratory has improved the reading and independent learning skills of our students. Most learners have become more confident in reading and moving ahead at their own pace. Most learners have also shown:

1. Improvement in comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, word analysis, and study skills.2. Passion in Engagement of their interests and increase of knowledge based on using a wide array of fiction and nonfiction selections.3. The ability to take ownership of their own work and progress.

IMYC helps develop engaged and active learners. With specific subject and personal learning goals, it provides a clear structure to develop knowledge, skills and understanding whilst making subject learning more connected.Although subject learning remains independent, all areas of study are connected by one conceptual theme, the Big Idea. Each Big Idea is introduced via an Entry Point activity. To switch the students’ minds onto the concepts, Middle school teachers collaboratively devise and facilitate non-subject specific activities for each Entry Point. Students are then asked questions, which help them to reflect on the Big Idea, making connections and demonstrating their understanding of it. Throughout the six-week units, teachers refer to the Big Idea, explicitly and implicitly,

and students continue to make new connections, building their knowledge and skills in each subject area. At the end of each unit, students participate in an Exit Point activity. This is a media project, for example a digital presentation, podcast, blog, digital photography, video log or a short film, which provide the students with an opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned about the Big Idea. This can be within each or a particular subject area, and most importantly a new understanding of the concept, which can then be applied to future learning and experiences. These shared experiences provide opportunities for students and teachers to collaborate and develop a shared focus on student learning.

We believe that the Middle School years are crucially important for students, a time of change and a time for increased independence in their learning. Reflecting these changes, our program is both challenging and creative. It develops the skills and understanding needed to meet the demands of Middle School while continuing

to inspire an enjoyment and thirst for learning.

THE UNIT THEMES & BIG IDEASStudents following the IMYC focus on academic, personal and international learning goals designed to stimulate and inspire learning. The various subjects have specific learning goals and activities which are

delivered and assessed by subject specialists. All the subjects in a particular year group follow the same conceptual unit for six weeks at a particular time. The Unit Themes and Big Ideas allow students to make meaning of their learning and to see the interdependence of their different subject areas.

How is IMYC meeting THE needs of needs of 11-13 year old year old brains?

Balance: Things are more stable when different elements are in the correct or best proportions While face painting, students were required to balance their paint ratios. They also balanced out the amount of paint used on their bodies to proportionally complement their IMYC Exit Point - BalanceThey have also been learning about fairness and equalization. It is important to treat everyone fairly and equally, but we also have to balance out how we treat people and how fairly we treat people.

Year 8 Entry Point ‘Tradition’ - The Carnival Fest!

Big Idea: Beliefs and customs from the past have a powerful effect on our lives today The purpose of Entry Point is to establish the new unit Big Idea and invite students to consider its significance. The ‘Entry Point’ forms the beginning part of the IMYC Process of Learning, and aims to kick off a new unit of learning in a fun, hands-on and enjoyable way. The students organized a wide range of carnival activities displaying the cultural events involved during

carnivals including, staging a carnival master, dancing, matching and much more. The parade matched round the school in celebration as custom demands. The aim of the event is to cast away negative energy and embrace a new beginning, new positive changes that bring good energy. The learners wrote all their fears and worries on pieces of paper and lit them to flames to signify new start.

They learnt a lot about different traditions and had fun while at it!
