It is hard to miss the excitement of or youth as the end of the school year draws near. This past week our Parish School at St. Lucy graduated our 8th grade class with a Baccalaureate Mass and Ceremony recognizing their achievements and our prayers and hopes for their future as they grow into adulthood as Christian women and men. We recognize summer vacation as a time of rest and allowing the young minds to explore and
grow, it is in the resting, exploring and growing that the work of the family continues.
The Church proclaims clearly the truth of the family and the parents as be-ing the best and primary formers of the hearts and minds of their children. We also recognize how hard this is when listening to the struggles many families have, especially those where both parents work outside the home, in planning the summer for their children. Es difícil no sentir la emoción de los jóvenes a medida que se acerca el final del año escolar. La semana pasada, nues-tra escuela parroquial de Santa Lucia graduamos nuestra clase del 8º grado con una Misa y ceremonia de bachillerato reconociendo sus logros y nuestras oraciones y esperanzas
para su futuro a medida que crecen hasta la adultez como mujeres y hom-bres cristianos. Reconocemos que las vacaciones de verano son un tiem-po de descanso que permite que las mentes jóvenes exploren y crezcan, y, es en el descanso, la exploración y el crecimiento donde continúa el trabajo de la familia.
La Iglesia proclama claramente como la familia y los padres son los mejo-res y principales formadores de los corazones y las mentes de sus hijos. También reconocemos que difícil es esto, al escuchar las dificultades que muchas familias tienen, especialmente aquellas en las que ambos padres trabajan fuera del hogar, al planear el verano para sus hijos. Una actualización rápida sobre nuestra Campaña de Capital Renovado en la Luz. Estamos en proceso de la planificación con reuniones con los arquitectos y trabajando con los diferentes grupos de planeo para seguir adelante. Three small and easy recommendations: 1) Don’t forget to take summer walks together as family. Unplug the computers and take out the ear buds, turn off the noise and enjoy a conversation in sharing life together. 2) Share dinner and pray time together; make a date night with your spouse, prepare family dinners together or go out with friends. 3) Don’t forget about Mass…even when we are traveling I promise a Catholic Church is nearby. Putting our faith life, time with God, in a place of priority balances our work and play in the light of God’s generosity of love.
A quick update for our Renewed in the Light Capital Campaign. We are in the midst of planning and meeting with the architects and working with the different planning groups to move forward. I thank everyone who has already pledged the to the campaign. We hope to have full update to report to the parish on the weekend of June 17th. Thank you again.

MSDYR Theme: The theme is "Venture," which means a risky or daring journey. VACATION BIBLE CAMP 2018/CAMPAMENTO DE BIBLIA 2018 June 25th to June 29th This year the Vacation Bible Camp “Shipwrecked” will engage your children through creative and fun activities that anchor kids in the truth that Jesus carries them through life’s storms!

We offer the following programs:
PRESCHOOL: St. Lucy offers catechesis for early childhood (Ages 3-5). Sundays from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM (in English).
GRADES K-6: Catechesis in English. The children receive the First Communion after their 2nd year of catechesis (no counting Kindergarten). Sundays from 10:00 to 11:15 AM or Wednesdays from 4 to 5:15 PM. We also offer ongoing catechesis.
GRADES 1-6: Catechesis in Spanish. The children receive the First Communion after their 2nd year of catechesis. Sundays from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM or Tuesdays from 4:00 to 5:15 PM. We also offer on-going catechesis.
Register your children on time in the parish office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am - 6pm.

Adult Faith Formation Faith Formation is not something that ends in 6th grade. In fact, it is life-long. Here at St Lucy we offer so many opportunities for you. Here are some on-Going Catholic Adult Formation opportunities:
• RCIA: Preparation for Adults looking to join the Catholic Church through full Initia-tion and receiving Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
• Marriage Preparation for Engaged Couples/civilly Married: Marriage prepara-tion for newly engaged couples and those looking to "convalidate" their civil mar-riages are welcome to attend our quarterly marriage preparation sessions and re-treat.
• "Catholic Netflix"- www.formed.org: St Lucy has a FREE parish subscrip-tion for ALL PARISHIONERS who want to grow their faith through an online media platform. Our parish subscription code is 9FH34Z. We encourage you to register. The Formed.org app is now available on Android and Apple devices.
• Parent Faith Formation: Bi-monthly meetings for parents of children paired with our Faith Formation pro-gram. This year we are studying Bishop Barron's Catholicism Series.
• Baptism Preparation for Infants: Every month we offer a Thursday evening class retreat for parents and Godparents of infant children looking to receive the Sacrament of Baptism.
• Bible Studies: Throughout the year we offer series of Bible Studies on various topics on Monday eve-nings or Thursday mornings.

Priestly Ordination of Rev. Mr. Wilberto “Eric” Piczon
With praise and thanksgiving to God, the Diocese of San Jose is honored to announce the Ordination of Dea-con Eric Piczon to the Sacred Order of Priesthood, together with two other Deacons, on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 9:30AM at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph in downtown San Jose. Deacon Eric served here at St. Lucy Parish as a seminarian during his Pastoral Year in 2015-2016. On Sunday, June 3, 2018, Rev. Eric Piczon will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving here at St. Lucy Church at the 11:00 AM Mass. All are invited to the Rite of Ordination at the Cathedral and to the Mass of Thanksgiving here at St. Lucy. There will be a reception at the Gym after the Mass of Thanksgiving.
