let’s welcome our new priest

Carlos Alberto EncinasMy name is Carlos Alberto Encinas. I am from Corrientes, Argentina. My family consists of my parents Elena (retired nurse) and Alberto (Retired Military of the Armed Forces), my sisters, Susana (dance and piano teacher) and Vanessa (dentist). I have a nephew, Enzo (studying architecture) and a niece Maria Constanza (studying medicine). After I finished high school, I entered medical school in my hometown. During my last year of studies I began to discern a call to the priesthood. In 2010 I traveled to New York City to volunteer at Saint Anthony Shelter with the Franciscans of the Renewal. There, I had the opportunity to make a deeper discernment.

After almost a year of discernment in the Franciscan community, I decided to enter priestly formation. In 2011, I entered the “Immaculate Conception House of Formation” seminary in Queens. I completed three years of Philosophical studies at the Archdiocese of New York. In 2014, when I finished my studies and after having discerned and prayed more deeply for my vocation, I moved to Florida to begin my Theological studies at the Seminary “San Vicente de Paul” in Boynton Beach, for the Diocese of Venice. I was Ordained a Priest for this Diocese on October 5, 2019. My first assignment was with the community of Saint Peter the Apostle here in Naples. I am very excited to continue serving the Lord as a Priest now here in the Saint Elizabeth Seton community.

Faith Formation is important at all ages and stages of our lives. We are a people of Word (Sacred Scriptures) and Sacraments. Those who for their children and/or themselves desire to prepare and receive the Sacraments are asked to contact the Faith Formation office at 239-455-3900, ext. 303, Mondays-Thursdays from 9am-4pm.

DO YOU NEED SACARMENTS?

Abortion advocates often argue that the unborn babies of poor mothers are better off aborted and abortion reduces the crime rate. However, the truth is that the violence of abortion has begot more violence and crime, not less. The pro-choice people have had more than 47 years to weed out all the “unwanted children” yet, we have more child abuse, more spousal abuse, more deadbeat dads, more gangs, more drugs, more homelessness and more crime. The list goes on and on.

By stating that the children of poor people are less entitled to have their lives protected than those of the rich, the writer is plainly of the view that the economic status of a family should be what determines whether children are worthy to be born or not. Laws against robbery and drug-dealing might impact the poor more than the rich, but that does not prevent us from passing and enforcing them.

The reason is simple: Robbery and drug dealing, like abortion, is wrong, regardless of the socio-economic class of hypothetical people who might commit these activities. The solution to poverty is not found in killing the children of the poor. We have been doing that since 1973. Our experience proves that it clearly does not work. Killing poor children is only the solution of “choice” for wealthy elitists. Perhaps a hidden agenda is at work here. Pro-Life Articles

WHAT: Congress is trying to force Americans to pay for abortion.

HOW: The Hyde Amendment and similar laws have protected taxpayers from funding elective abortion for 45 years. Now, powerful members of Congress want to take away these laws that both Democrats and Republicans have supported for nearly half a century.

WHAT HAPPENS WITHOUT THESE PROTECTIONS? Billions of taxpayer dollars could be used to pay for abortion.

TAKE ACTION: Sign the petition to Congress!

Save Hyde. Save lives.Taxpayer dollars should NOT pay for abortion. The majority of Americans agree with this - both Democrats and Republicans.

For 45 years, the Hyde amendment and similar laws have protected taxpayers from being forced to pay for elective abortion. The Hyde amendment has been signed into law every year since 1976, whether the Congress and the White House were led by Republicans or Democrats.

The Hyde Amendment has saved nearly 2.5 million babies and mothers in difficult circumstances from the tragedy of abortion. An overwhelming majority of Americans, including low-income women and women of color who are most impacted by it, support the Hyde Amendment and laws that prevent government-funded abortion. We urge you, in the strongest possible terms, to ensure that the Hyde Amendment and all similar life-saving appropriations riders remain in place during the 117th Congress and beyond.

Do not force Americans to subsidize the taking of innocent life. Oppose any bill, including any appropriations bill, that expands taxpayer funding of abortion.
