We are hoping to divide and conquer the landscaping

job of the parish grounds. This will give lots of oppor-

tunity for organizations, families, friends, classes, etc. to

take care of a smaller area and keep it beautiful through

out the growing season. We have divided the grounds

into sections:

1. Front of church, pieta shrine, east side of rectory and

the front left of the rectory (could be split more)

2. Front right and side of rectory & St. Isadore shrine

3. Behind school by the Quilting room *TAKEN*

4. In front of the Parish Center *TAKEN*

This would include weeding, planting, watering, mulch-

ing and fall clean-up of your area. To sign up for one of

these spots call the rectory 636-583-2488.

Only 2 spots left!!

Page 4: THE MOST HOLY SUNDAY AY St John the Baptist

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! We give thanks to our men and women who have defended our country at the cost of

their lives. Our nation remains a blessing to give thanks for and honor in the midst of our day to day lives. It is not perfect, nor

has it ever been perfect – but it is home. Our nation is divided, but in Christ we have the ability to see even those who are so

different than us (perhaps even opposed to us) as brothers and sisters. This ability to follow Christ has been enshrined in the

very Constitution that our military swear still an oath to support and defend. The boldest love of Christ is the love that is ex-

tended to those filled with hatred. Let us therefore honor those who have died to protect the freedom to teach this radical love

(and often died with the very same love of Christ inspiring their service) by extending this same charity to those on all sides.

Happy Feast of the Holy Trinity! This is another huge Feast for our faith when we contemplate the eternal mystery of

love. God has never been alone…..He did not create us out of some isolated experience of desperation with a need to make us

so that He could have something to do. No, God is and always has been a communion of three divine Persons. It sounds con-

fusing, and all analogies limp along being more unlike the truth of God than like the reality. Yet, it is worth trying on different

ideas, as long as we keep in mind that that they do not fully embody or exhaust the nature of God. Fulton Sheen compared the

Trinity to a man who had an idea in his head and love in his heart. In other words, the man is like God the Father. The Son

who is the Word of God is like the idea in His head – the most fundamental idea being the idea of identity – Who He is. God

the Father has always known Himself and that divine self-knowledge (knowing all of Himself) is the Word. Finally, the love in

His heart reflects the Holy Spirit and the love that He has for everything around Himself flows from a love and joy in His own

existence. He created us not out of a need, but out of love. He created us, so that He could love us. Love desires to be shared

and so God has created us in order to share His love with us, His beloved children. Praised be to God, the Father, the Son, and

the Holy Spirit!

God made us to love us, but He also gave us the ability to give Him back the greatest gift possible – that is the love of

His Son, Jesus Christ. We are united to Christ and capable of loving with His heart. With this in mind I bring up an important

subject: volunteering. One of the ways we can offer our hearts in unity with the heart of Christ and offer His love up to God is

through freely giving of our time. St. John’s Parish has been blessed by her parishioners and by many or all of you reading

with countless hours of service. However, today we find ourselves in serious need of more help. If you are able to work with

children in any capacity, please consider our PSR program that begins in the Fall….but we need people to agree to teach or act

as a coordinator soon, so that we can plan accordingly. We are also in need of assistance with the landscaping around church.

We have a need for those who can fight the army of invading weeds and bring a refreshing drink of water to our thirsty flowers

around our grounds. Please call the rectory if you are eligible for service and ready to enlist.

The German Games are soon approaching! Mass for St. John’s surprise birthday party will be on June 11 at 5:30 pm

in the Parish Hall. If you are 21 or older – get five of your friends (3 men and 3 women) and sign up to compete….or consider

coming out to try your luck at our “horse races” on June 11th …or the 5k run on June 12. Check out more details at German-

Games.org!

Our Vacation Bible School is gearing up for its June 21st debut. This evening program for K-5th grade children will

help children discover the mystery of Christ in the Mass….think how your children could benefit from a fresh outlook on the

Eucharist every weekend of their lives! If you would like to grow in your own appreciation of the mysteries, I will be holding a

mini vacation Bible School for adults on the mystery of the Mass…on Wednesday, June 23rd from 6 pm till 8 pm. All are invit-

ed to the rectory/parish chapel for study and prayer.

Dive into the mysteries of our faith online! A generous donation has now given our parish access to FORMED. This

site has tons of Catholic videos, books and audios available for free to watch streaming on your computer or smart tv. Simply

go to FORMED.org, click Sign up, select “sign up as a parishioner, find “St. John the Baptist Church” by parish name, address,

or zip code, enter your email….and you’re good to go!

Speaking of going….I’ll be going down to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi from Tuesday, June 1 through Friday, June 4th to

be with my family. We will have adoration and a Communion Service in the rectory chapel on June 1st….Wednesday through

Friday there will not be services at St. John’s. Please pray wherever you may find yourself and we will gather again on June 5th

for Corpus Christi!

Speaking of Corpus Christi – we will have our traditional procession on Sunday, June 6th at 7pm. Please come out and

give our cannons some support! May God bless you and be your Strength,

Father Foy
