Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity

John 3:16-18

“God did not send his Son into the world

to condemn the world, but that the

world might be saved through him.”

Our images of God are often formed early in life. Sadly, those images are of a severe, vengeful God like a police-man waiting to pounce on us for doing something wrong or a judge who takes things away from us as a punish-ment. Jesus taught of a God who loves us unconditional-ly and wants us to discover, accept, develop and use all of the talents, abilities and gifts he gave us for our own benefit and enjoyment, and the benefit and enjoyment of others. God created us to share eternal life with him after a life of being all that he created us to be. Nicodemus, a Pharisee, who came to Jesus in the night so as not to be seen as one of his followers. He had an image of a se-vere God, but he respected Jesus as a teacher who had come from God. Jesus, speaking of himself in the third person, tells Nicodemus, and through Nicodemus, tells us, of a God who sent his Son into the world to save it, not condemn it. Jesus would leave us to return to the Father, but he left his Spirit to lead us to be all that God created us to be.

“Without the burden of afflictions it is impossible to reach the height of grace. The gift of grace increases as the struggle increases.” St. Rose of Lima

ing resources for people across our diocese. You can find

those resources by visiting https://owensborodiocese.org/

Diocese of Owensboro Prayer Companion The Office of Worship has created a resource for prayer at home during the Coronavirus outbreak called the Dio-cese of Owensboro Prayer Companion. In addition, each week that Mass is suspended, Lauren Johnson will be sharing an adapted Liturgy of the Word for use by the faithful at home that is specific to each Sunday. Each week’s Liturgy of the Word will include a short reflection on the readings by one of our Diocesan Priests. You can find them by visiting https://owensborodiocese.org/resources-for-prayer-at-home/.

Word of Life Weekly Quote “The Gospel of Life is at the heart of Jesus’ saving mes-sage to the world. Through the Incarnation of Christ, God reveals to us the dignity of all human life.’” USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activites “Pope St. John Paul II’s Challenge to Our Church”

We now invite parish pastoral council members, liturgy,

finance, and other parish committee members to a follow-

up series of four additional webinars in June and July.

Each evening we will focus on one of the movements of

“Encounter,” “Accompany,” “Community,” and “Send.”

These webinars will be recorded so they can be viewed

later by anyone else on your parish committees who are

not able to attend. Together, we will discuss how to help

our parishes grow Missionary Disciples. The link to view
