MESSAGE FROM MEMBERS.

This is Bruce Ward, just saying Hello to all the people in NRVC., we had a very quiet Christmas and New Year, Sending this note as Collene asked me to keep in touch re my Treatment etc., Just finished my second round of Chemo, didn't lose my hair this time, tolerated treatment pretty well, should be finished by about end of April, see how I feel might get out a bit soon, pretty hard stuck inside all the time, but just have to do it, due to my immunology being down and I can’t be around crowds of people. We hope that you all have a safe and happy New Year. Bruce and Judy. Thanks Bruce, it is great to hear from you both, continue to fight, and we hope to see you soon out and about again

Meeting opened: 9.00pm

President George Vella thanked everyone for voting him as President.

Vice President Terry Jones spoke about Mid-Week end of year Xmas run. We left Maccas at 9.00am

and headed for Ringwood Park, organized by Christine Waugh where we had morning tea and a drive

around the track in our old cars. We left there and headed to Rudy & June Galea's home which is under

self-construction, they have beautiful views of the water and to their credit they are doing a great job.

Onto Karurah Park where we all set up and had our lunch and then the entertainment started.

Marilyn had a game in mind and started pulling names out of a hat, when your name came up and yes mine was

Wa first, I had to wiggle and giggle everything on my body, but little did they know everyone had to do something from bei

a m being a male ballerina to quaking like a duck which should have been a chicken call, tapping like Fred Astair, singing

To to your wife and lots of other funny things. Once doing our performance we were rewarded with a small gift.

Eve Everyone from what I saw had a great day.

Bill Kalb was asked if he would update our member’s directory and he agreed to do so.

The Spring Cruiz-in event needs to have a sub-committee for this.

Ros Walker thanked everyone and was pleased to accept the Editors position

DAVID SNAPE FROM NRMA GAVE A TALK TO MEMBERS.

At the AGM, David Snape from NRMA Classic and Vintage Insurance was present as a guest speaker. He had

been invited to talk to the members about the NRMA and he presented us with some very interesting information.

I have listed below just a few salient points from his presentation.

1. The illegal practice of re-birthing vehicles was talked about in some detail, with illustrations being given as

to how it is done and problems in trying to prevent it all occurring.

2. The NRMA has two arms: (i) Insurance and (ii) Motoring and Road Services.

3. The NRMA now owns several insurance companies.

4. All call centres are in Australia – there are no call centres overseas at all.

5. Insurance is done on an “agreed” value, not market value. Market value is the value of the vehicle at the

time of the insurance claim. The amount can be increased at any time during the insured period, without

the need to wait for renewal time. This is a good feature if, say, your vehicle has just been re-sprayed, re-

upholstered etc.

6. We were strongly advised to never “under insure” – it is really not worth the risk.

7. Vehicles prior to 1980 have the option for “retention of wreck”. For vehicles post 1980, negotiations can

be made with the assessor.

8. Choice of repairer is offered.

9. Insurance includes Traveller Care Australia wide – this was formerly known as “breakdown cover” and

includes up to $3000 of cover.

10. There is a 24/7 Help Line for policy holders.

11. Flexible excess is available on policies.

12. The NRMA has a very large Research Centre where such things as “low speed impact crash tests” are

carried out.

13. In any accident, the first safety device that comes into play is the seat belt, followed by the deployment of

air bags.

Please note that this is far from a complete list of the subjects which David covered – it merely represents a few

items that I happened to find interesting and informative.

Lorraine Laney.

Congratulations to Richard & Lorraine Laney who welcomed in to their family a fifth generation great-grand-

daughter. ALIYAH MAY WILSON on 19th

December, 2014. Just in time for great Christmas celebrations.

The five generation Aussies include Richard’s mum, (97); Lorraine (60s); Allison (46); Jessica (24) and baby

Aliyah.

Thank you for your contribution to The Good Oil. Also for letting me know that I was not the only one who

got lost at the new roundabout being built south of Club Macquarie. Richard & Lorraine as well as myself

really just kept driving on the road, not realising that we had not taken enough turning around, and ended up

going through Boolaroo. A nice small township (not seen before) but hope to find the turn off again coming &

leaving as the route actually took 15 minutes off our travelling time. Ed. Ros.

This photo was taken out the front of a Museum Another of Rusconi’s Masterpieces

In South Australia. Reminds you of the Three Monkeys. The Alter of Saint Maries Cathedral in Paris.

The famous dog on the tuckerbox was also sculptured by the late Frank Rusconi (who died in 1964). The marble

masterpieces took the late Frank Rusconi 28 years of his spare time to build in order to showcase the diversity and

beauty of New South Wales marble.

Rusconi and three other men constructed the original Alter whilst he was working in Switzerland.

What a fabulous start to the Mid-Week runs for 2015, fine weather, with a high humidity, we gathered at

Maccas at Edgeworth, at 9.00am, and headed off up to Raymond Terrace to the Park on the River for Morning

Tea. It was good to see Rob Garrett attend his first ever Mid-Week Run, we also had a couple of other Visitors,

Marilyn baked some yummy cup- cakes, with smiley faces on them, but one had a sad face, no idea who got that

one. Oh Oh !! The next minute we had 2 RTA Officers turn up, and we thought we are in trouble, no, it was

Gordon Waugh and his Off-sider, Phew thank goodness.

We also met up with The Jag Club who with George and Marilyn, with Bill Whitby asked if they could tag along

with us, so in total we had 60 people, and 37 cars, (NRVC 30 Members, 17 cars - the Jag Club had 30 members,

and 20 cars), so off we started up to Tea Gardens Pub, for our Lunch, where the Pub had organised and set up

for us in one of the large Function Rooms, with nice Ice water and Ice Cubes carafes up on each table, a welcome

drink from the heat. .

We chatted with everyone, laughed out loud, the food was terrific as always, and the company tops, so then we

all decided to head off home but with a stop-over at the beach at Tea Gardens, where some folk went for a walk

in the Sand Dunes, not naming names, they walked off hand in hand. Next it was off to Heatherbrae Maccas, for

an Ice Cream Cone, a tradition with Marilyn and George, but guess What! there was no Ice Cream at

Heatherbrae, so we had to then go to Hexham Maccas, phew thank goodness, they had plenty, by this time

some of us just wanted a cool drink, so we had the Bubblegum Frozen Sprite® Splash with Popping Candy.

Yummy even if I did have a blue tongue afterwards, thanks Michael and Daniel, now I will have to have one all

the time. Another great day, good company, thanks everyone, from Fabio & Dianne, Marilyn and George.
