CHAPTER ONE
Medical Records
.
Once upon a time, on a
beautiful sunny day in a land
far away somewhere in
North Carolina when all the
flowers were blooming and
trees green with leaves, a
medical administrative
assistant named Sherry
Brink went to work only to
find out that the hardcopy
medical records needed to
transferred to the new
medical electronic software.
.
.
Now, Sherry had challenges
before and always worked
through them with her utmost
diligence.
This was more than just learning
how the software worked, it was
also learning how to work it!
There was very little training
but, luckily, there was a HELP
tab that had everything she
would ever need to know about
this.
Sherry was self-sufficient
and was able to populate
patient information, scan
and index sensitive
documents for instant
collaboration with providers
of different departments.
And who said electronic
medical records would be
paperless!!!
.
.
Sherry saw
the rewards
of inputting
sensitive information.
-------
-Reports were
immediately
accessible to
providers.
-No chance of
reports getting lost,
causing delays, and
no illicit sharing.
-Patients received quality care
faster – the
new Health
Plan for America.
CHAPTER TWO
Time Crunch
.
Now that Sherry had more
time since going electronic
was a timesaver, she was
able to concentrate more on
helping coworkers. This was
easy since she has a helpful
personality.
Things were going great and
then another challenge
arose – it was Friday, late in
the day, and the dictation
had to be finished by
Monday. Lots of people
were sick at the same time
and that meant extra
dictation and scanning.
What should Sherry do?
A) PanicB) CryC) Prioritize

answer!
.
.
Sherry learned a long
time ago that
while all office
tasks are important,
they need to
be prioritized.
She came in
over the weekend and
had all dictation done
by Monday
morning!
This made for
a happy boss!
CHAPTER THREE
Office Gossip
.
Okay, here was the water
cooler talk one day!
A little gossip!!!
One afternoon, Sherry was
going to a different part of
the building and she noticed a
bunch of employees in one
area, looking at the floor and
talking.
With her cat curiosity, she
walked over to see what all
this was. Turned out there
was a lizard walking around
that came in under the front
door and got lost! No one
wanted to touch it.
Sherry went immediately over
to the cute little green
creature, picked it up,
brought it outside and placed
it in the dense bushes. (Of
course she washed her
hands!)
.
.
CHAPTER FOUR
Surprise
Question.
Unexpectedly, a very important
person once asked Sherry if she
ever had any regrets as an
administrative assistant.
Sherry paused, thought about this
for a minute, and said, “You know, I
really do not have any regrets. I
always think before doing
something to avoid that. A
standard in my life is in the
evening I think about the previous
happenings of the day and if I can
improve any and how others might
be seeing situations.”
This most important person
thought about the answer, and
said, “That is a great idea. I like it
so much, I am going to present it at
my next meeting.”
This was a great boost to Sherry’s
day! This positive reinforcement
encouraged her to think of other
ways to be positively productive in
her work.
.
CHAPTER FIVE
