The Panther CLARK
MIDDLE
SCHOOL
Keep Calm and Prowl On!
By: Megan Wyatt & Sherice Singleton
On Friday September 27, we had the Pan-
ther Prowl. It is a school fundraiser that
has happened every year since we have
been here at Clark. The Panther Prowl
was 3.0 miles long. You could have
walked it or run it. In our opinion it was lots
of fun! There was also ice cold water,
snacks, and fun games going on in the
gym and at the Y when everyone finished.
Winners for girls were Hope Seaton, 1st
Place, Kelsi Jeffries,
2nd Place, and Olivia
Cavanaugh, 3rd
Place. Winners for
the boys were Bryan
Morfin, 1st Place,
Coleton Nelson, 2nd
Place, and Camden Mayfield, 3rd Place.
Winners for the teachers were Mrs. Mar-
mon, 1st Place, Mr. Dean, 2nd Place, and
Mr. Bender, 3rd Place. Congratulations!
Should Teenagers Wait to Drive?
By: Martina Glenn and Sa-mantha Franz
We asked fifteen seventh graders what they thought about our driving age and out of fifteen students six thought we should lower it. Five thought we should keep it the same, and four thought we should raise it. We took the same survey with the six graders. Out of twenty-five students three thought we should raise it, seven-teen thought we should lower it, and five thought we should keep it the same. Then we surveyed the eighth graders. Out of twenty stu-dents, eight thought we should keep It the same, eleven wanted to lower it, and zero want to raise it.
So at the end of it all, most stu-dents wanted to lower the age. But what do we know? We are kids. Teachers should know best. We asked sixth grade teacher Mrs. Nelson and she wanted to raise the driving age. It’s probably for the best. We think just keep it the same. We can wait a little longer it won’t kill us.

Music Review By Samantha Davis
“Man Down” is sung by Rihanna and “All Around the
World” is sung by Mindless Behavior. “Man Down” takes place in Africa or Jamaica. Rihanna shoots someone and is trying not to get caught by the police and she can’t sleep. At the end she packs her things and leaves and doesn’t come back. “All Around the World” takes place in an expensive building. They are trying to find their number one girl and they are looking all around the world.
The head leader is Prodigy, then it is Ray Ray, then
Princeton, then Roc Royal. They all had to fight to get the part in Mindless Behavior. They found Prodigy in Atlanta be-cause he was a really good dancer and singer. His real name is Crag Crippen Jr. Then Ray Ray became it because they found him online dancing with Tommy the Clown at his school and Princeton just tried out and made it, and so did Roc Royal. They came out with their first movie called “All Around the World” and it was about the bio of their life.
Listing to music is good!
By: Jada Neu
I believe that listing to music during passing
period and when doing individual work is
good! The reason why I believe this is be-
cause, from my experience, listing to music
is a way to get away from all the distrac-
tions, the loud noises, and all of the annoy-
ing people who you dislike. For some people
it’s easier to listen to music than hear peo-
ple talk. For some people it’s getting away,
to be lost, to be able to do their work or to
get into class. When I listen to music, I al-
most always want to sing. I listen to music
because I love to sing, because there’s not
one other thing I’d rather do than listen to

The Amazing Miss Benton!
By Jenna McDonnell and Dawson Crouss
Miss Benton
is a 6th grade Eng-lish teacher who has been teaching here at CMS for 6 years. Miss. Ben-ton’s birthday is on October 19th, 1984.
Miss Ben-ton’s hobbies are having “coffee, movies, dinner with friends, Sunday lunch with family, escaping into a good book, travel-ing, and the moun-tains.” She works at the T-Bones every summer.
As far as music is con-cerned, she said, “I pretty much like
and listen to any-thing and, except vomit metal (scream-o), I love music!”
We then asked her about her favorite food. She replied, “Mexican anything, just not spicy. There’s nothing like it.” Purple is her favorite color because it makes her happy!
Miss. Ben-ton really enjoys her new students. She said, “This has been the best start to the school year I’ve ever had in the six years I’ve been here. I’m excited about what this new year holds.”
We won-dered what she thought about see-ing the class of 2018 as 8th grad-ers knowing that after this year they
will be closing one door and opening another labeled high school? Miss. Benton said, “It’s always fun watch-ing them grow and mature into the awesome young adults they’re be-coming. One of my favorite things about teaching 6th grade is getting to still see them for two more years.” She said that she had always wanted to teach. “I always knew I wanted to work with young adults and make a positive impact in their lives, I hope in some small way, I’m making that happen here at CMS.”
We have to say that you have made a big impact in our lives, Miss Benton!
Electricity Comic
Strip
Basil Broome & Trai
Warburton The 8th graders are learning
about electricity and how it is transmitted
into daily uses such as lights. We chose
this comic strip to show how electricity
works. The comic matches with how we
ran the comb through someone’s hair and
it attracted to the tape. Without electrici-
ty most of the things we have today
wouldn’t exist, such as iPads, video
games, cell phones, and television

The Plastics by Anonymous Part 3 After a vigorous roughing- up of the U. S. S. Hartwinger, even the back- up power systems had failed. A slight buzzing sound from a busted pipe filled the area. "Is everyone alright?" Asked Captain Jack. "Fine," said Aberdeen, turning on a flashlight. "But this was not in my job description." "And I'd have been a lot better if some mad man calling himself captain hadn't jumped onto my ship and nearly-" "Nearly what? Saved your lives? Oh, what a pity that would have been, there's no telling where we are now. Could be a different solar system- a different dimension for all any of you would know." "Oh what are you anyways, some kind of a criminal stow away?" Aberdeen questioned as she handed him a flashlight. "Oh, I'm a lot of things. Criminal? Maybe. Stow- away? More often than not. And dashingly handsome may be one thing you left out." He tossed the flashlight up in the air and caught it. "On top of it all, I'm someone who won't be needing this." He handed it back to her and pulled out an alien device that made a repetitive buzzing sound. Suddenly, all of the lights went back on. "And neither will you." He beamed in pride of himself. "Come on then!" He ran off. "Hey! Where do you think you're going off to?!" Shouted Captain Nichols, but he was ignored. He and Aberdeen shared a quick glance and ended up following him anyway. They met the others by the entrance, and just as Captain Jack was about to unlock and open the door, Adrian Kelsey ran toward him yelling, "Stop! We need to suit up; we don't even know if there's oxygen out there!" "Right, right..." Responded Captain Jack. "Only one way to find out!" Everyone braced themselves in terror as he flung open the hatch and stuck his head out the door. An aroma like cinnamon filled the quadrin. After taking in a deep breath through his nose, he turned and said,"Yep, oxygen. Definitely oxygen. Oxygen, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, water vapor, and just a touch of... miovara..?" He peered back out the door and opened it wider. "Oh, that's not just any air you're breathing.... Ladies and Gentlemen, take a deep breath. However jittery or nauseous you feel right now, enjoy it. Because you are now breathing the tainted air of Miovarus- home of the blood sucking Miovians- and that's the most relaxed you'll be feeling for a while." Kelsey shuttered. "W-what does that mean..?" He said with a shiver. "It means," Captain Jack began, grabbing Kelsey by the shoulders, " That you're standing on top of a ticking time bomb ridden with the most vile creatures in the universe." He grinned once more, like a crazy person looking for trouble. "Let's go poke one with a stick."

George Washington By: Sam Harris and Lauren Shumate George Washington was an interesting man. He was born in Virginia and started school when he was six years old. At 26 years old, George Washington married Martha Dandridge Custis, a widow who already had two children. George never had any children of his own. He was 6 feet tall and 200 pounds! He was one of the biggest presidents! George Washington was the only president who didn’t live in the White House. He was not the first president of the American colonies; it was John Hanson.
Girls Volleyball Struggles
By Coleton Nelson and Kaleb High-
tower
The season has just got start-
ed. “The team is looking good in
practices but struggle to finish
games,” says Martina Glenn, the
middle hitter for the team. “When
we lose a point we shouldn’t just
give up; we need to shake it off.” The
team is currently struggling with a
record zero wins and five losses. But
you can come and support the teams
and hopefully give them the confi-
dence they need to win.
The team is currently feeling
great about their next game at Mon-
ticello Trail this Thursday. Martina
Glenn says, “We have been practic-
ing really hard for this game and
have gained a lot of endurance for
the game.” Good luck, girls!
