The Penguin Book Exchange is a scheme that has been set up to increase the spread of publications. Here at Penguin, we’ve been thinking and instead of books sitting of the shelves, why not swap and trade them? It’s simple really, all you need to do is set up an account with us and then you will be able to upload a list of the titles that you are willing to trade. Then when you have found a book which you would like to swap, all you need to do is post it through our freepost service to send it away. With everything going digital these days, we also offer you the

OUR MISSION STATEMENT TO YOU.service of trading e-books. This happens in a similar way apart from mailing the books you simply download them. Alot has changed since we began1935, but one stationary fact is that whether it is snuggling down with a celebrity autobiography, escaping to a distant world with fantasy fiction, reliving memories with a childhood classic or sitting on the edge of your seat with a serial killer thriller, we all still love to read. There is a world of people out there just like yourself. Do not let your books go to waste. How ever you read, read it with Penguin.

To make things a lot simpler and easier for you, we decided to put all of the books into different categories. It made a lot of sense really, why should you have to bother trawling through countless pages of book titles which don’t interest you, why not jump to the genre of book which you want. If you want to read a book on French Cuisine you don’t want to be looking at books on Space Travel to Mars. However, because we have a lot of books, we also have a lot of categories; here are just a few.

It could be the sheet music to Nessun Dorma or the book that will help you master the xylophone or just the programme to your favourite ever broadway musical, we have the whole cast here.

When the humdrum Groundhog days are just too much for you and you want to escape to a place where you can fight Orcs on the Marshland and battle over Thrones or move into the depths of a possessed house with axes in the bathroom door, be sure that you can escape with us.

It could be that alien invasion that grabs your attention or a laser fight around Jupiter in the year 2314, or you could be the captain of the best starship in the galaxy or battling the evil forces of the Dark Empire, we don’t mind where your head is, as long as it is in a book.

Whether it’s the victorious days of 1966 or just that book that finally tell you where to stand in cricket, or you are just really trying to find out why people find Golf so interesting, you can find it and many other substitutes in our collection.

Once you have signed up, you can create a booklist. Your booklist is your own, yes there are many others like it, but yours is your own. You can put whatever you like on there, whether it be your first ever Roald Dahl or that copy of War & Peace that you just never got round to reading, we don’t mind. However one little reminder is that we operate on a ‘Book4Book’ Method on which each swap must be a fair trade with each party agreeing on what books are being traded. You will be delighted to hear though that we do have an awards scheme set up where you can acheive accolades. Some of these are:Sherlock: The most Crime Fiction books swapped.Baggins: The most Fantasy books swapped.Vader: The most Sci-Fi books swapped.Dahl: The most Children’s books swapped.

When you have decided on your exchange, there are a couple of ways to go about swapping the books. The most common and most popular choice is the ‘Free Penguin Post’. This works by you downloading and printing off the FreePost Slip from your home computer; then all you need to do is drop it off at your local Post Office. If you are sending more than one book to the same person we have set up the freepost service called ‘Parcel-a-Penguin’. This works in exactly the same way, it’s just for bigger swaps. As we are now in the business of trading e-books, the swap is done purely online, and on your e-reader. However due to e-book legislation, there is a 5% royalties commision that will be paid to the publisher and author.
