PROJECT DESCRIPTION: CLT’s new three-level, 51,000-square-foot East Terminal Expansion offers passengers more concessions and amenities to enhance their traveling experience. The $39 million addition, called The Plaza, will open Nov. 15 under the Destination CLT portfolio, a $2.5-$3.1 billion capital investment in capacity enhancements.

Located between Concourses D and E, The Plaza, provides an inviting spot to shop, dine and relax.

ARTWORK: In partnership with: Arts & Science Council and Public Art CommissionArtist: Christian MoellerTitle: “Loops” “Loops” is comprised of two giant floating “chandeliers” animated by electric motors that are integrated into the artwork’s support structure. It maintains an elegant choreography of moving and curving slopes that are contrary to its materials – approximately 200 linear feet of 5-inch-diameter aluminum tubing coated with automotive paint in a sunny dual-tone finish. Each piece weighs approximately 1,000 pounds and occupies a cubic volume of approximately 27’ x 27’ x 27’.
