    THE PREPARATORY PRAYERSIf the recitation of the Rosary is made as an act of prayer for specific objects, these

    may be declared here or before the collect that concludes the Preparatory Prayers.All make the Sign of the Cross with the crucifix, as the Leader begins,

    In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.Amen.

    All say,

    I BELIEVE in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven

    and earth, And of all things visible and invisible;

    And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God;

    Begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light ofLight, Very God of very God; Begotten, not made; Being of onesubstance with the Father; By whom all things were made; Who for

    us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, And was

    incarnate of the Holy Ghost and the Virgin Mary, And was made

    man; And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He

    suffered and was buried; And the third day he rose again according

    to the Scriptures: And ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the

    right hand of the Father; And he shall come again, with glory, to

    judge both the quick and the dead; Whose kingdom shall have noend.

    And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord, and giver of Life,

    Who proceedeth from the Father [and the Son]; Who with the

    Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; Who spake

    by the prophets. And I believe one holy Catholic and Apostolic

    Church; I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins; And I

    look for the Resurrection of the dead; And the Life of the world to

    come. Amen.If preferred, the Apostles Creed may be used instead of the above:

    I BELIEVE in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and

    earth:

    And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: Who was conceived

    by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary: Suffered under

    Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried: He descended into

    hell; The third day he rose again from the dead: He ascended into

    heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty:From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

    I believe in the Holy Ghost: The holy Catholic Church; The

    Communion of Saints: The Forgiveness of sins: the Resurrection of

    the body: And the life everlasting. Amen.

    To thee we exiles, children of Eve, lift our crying;

    To thee we are sighing as, mournful and weeping, we pass through

    this vale of sorrow.Turn thou therefore, O our intercessor, those thine eyes of pity and

    loving-kindness upon us sinners.

    Hereafter, when our earthly exile shall be ended, show us Jesus,the blessed fruit of thy womb,

    O gentle, O tender, O gracious Virgin Mary

    Leader Pray for us, O holy Mother of God;

    People That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

    Let us pray. Almighty and everlasting God, who by the co-operation of the

    Holy Ghost didst prepare the body and soul of the glorious Virgin Mother

    Mary to become a habitation meet for thy Son: Grant that as we rejoice in

    her commemoration, we may be delivered by her loving intercession from

    our present evils and from eternal death; through the same Christ our Lord.

    Amen.[Translation from the Latin by Canon Winifred Douglas]

    Here, on the three small beads, may be said an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and

    a Glory be for the intentions of the Holy Father, as well as those of the

    Bishops and other Pastors of the participants.

    An Act of Contrition may also be added, such as the following:

    My God, I love thee with my whole heart and above all things, and am

    heartily sorry that I have offended thee. May I never offend thee any more.

    O, may I love thee without ceasing and make it my delight to do in all things

    thy most holy will.

    xLeader Lord, hear our prayer;

    People And let our cry come unto thee.

    Let us pray. Almighty God, who hast promised to hear the petitions of those

    who ask in thy Sons Name: We beseech thee mercifully to incline thine

    ears to us who have now made our prayers and supplications unto thee; and

    grant that those things which we have faithfully asked according to thy will,

    may effectually be obtained, to the relief of our necessity, and to the setting

    forth of thy glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.[Book of Common Prayer(1928), page 50]

    The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship

    of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.[2 Corinthians 13:14]

    xTHE PONDERING HEART THE BOOK AND THE APOSTOLATEThe Pondering Heartrosary manual is offered as an electronically

    transmitted file free of charge. I ask only (1) that the source of thematerial be acknowledged appropriately if it is republished, (2)

    that I be sent a copy of each republished item, especially if it is

    modified from its original format, and (3) that users make a

    contribution in whatever kind or amount as they are able for the

    support of the apostolate and its minister. (Please be aware that at

    this early stage Spring, 2011 The Pondering Heart does not

    have tax-exempt status.)

    The ecumenically oriented Catholic apostolate which is named

    after this manual is entirely supported by the voluntary

    contributions of those who benefit from it. Please visit the web

    site at http://ThePonderingHeart.net to learn more about what thisapostolate has to offer for the upbuilding of the Church and the re-

    evangelization of Western culture and society.

    Two New Testament principles lie behind the decision to offer

    products of this apostolate without charge: First, Freely you have

    been given; freely give [Matthew 10:8]; second, Those who

    preach the gospel should live of the gospel [1 Corinthians 9:14].

    My reluctance to put a price on any of the material that I am going

    to offer through this ministry stems from a perception of it as a gift

    to be passed on. Instead, I will put my confidence in Gods

    provision expressed through his people.
