Prov 42 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. 3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. 4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. 5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. (Ps 104)Solomon’s Advice: Listen to what my Dad taught me.

Ps 1011 A Psalm of David. I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing. 2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. 3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. 4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person. 5 Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer. 6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me. 7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. 8 I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.

I. I will sing

Ps 1011 A Psalm of David. I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing.

Ps 13:6 I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me. Ps 59:17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

Heb 2:12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. Rev 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works , Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways , thou King of saints. Ps 137:3-4 3 For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. 4 How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a strange land?

II. I will [Compose] behave

Ps 1012 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

1Sam 18:14-15 14 And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him. 15 Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him. 1Chr 19:13 Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight. Ps 131:2 Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child. Isa 3:5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable. Mic 3:4 Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings. 1Tim 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of

God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 1Tim 1:18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; 1Tim 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 1Tim 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 1Tim 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 1Tim 4:6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. 1Tim 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1Tim 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

1Sam 21:13 And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.

III. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes

Ps 1013 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise , she took of the fruit thereof,

and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Num 33:52 Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places: Job 31:1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? Eccl 2:14 The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all. Prov 17:24 Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth. [Not all wisdom is good 1Cor. 1:19, 21, 27 Rom 16:19]Ezek 8:7-12 Matt 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

IV. I will [Separate] not know a wicked person

Ps 101:4,6-74 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person. 6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me. 7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house : he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight .

Ps 119:115 Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God. Matt 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 2Cor 6:14-16 14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 2Tim 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

V. I will [Sever] cut off

Ps 101:5,85 Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer. 8 I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.

Prov 25:23 The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue. Hab 3:12-13 12 Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger. 13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah. Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off . 1Cor 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 2Cor 11:12 But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

Gal 5:7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? Gal 5:12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.

[Prov 25:28]

My Friend, have you heard of the town of No-goodOn the banks of the River Slow,

Where blooms the Wait-a-while flower fairWhere the Some-Time-or-other scents the air,

And the soft Go-easies grow?

It stands at the bottom of Lazy-hill,And is easy to reach, I declare;

You’ve only to fold up your hands and glideDown the slope of Weak-will’s toboggan slide

To be landed quickly there.

The town is as old as the human raceAnd grows with the flight of years.

It is wrapped in the fog of idlers’ dreams,Its streets are paved with selfish schemes,

And sprinkled with useless tears.

The town of No-good is all hedged aboutBy the mountains of Despair.

No sentinel stands on its gloomy walls,No trumpet to battle and triumph calls,

For cowards alone are there.

My friend, from the dead-alive town of No-goodIf you would keep far away,

Just follow your duty through good and ill,Take this for your motto, “I will, I will,”

Prov 25:28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
