Please read carefully. 8 th , 12 th , and 13 th graders - who are taking summer school or have an extended year through their IEP , please keep your devices. (Return procedures will be provided to you once you complete using your device.) Our records indicate that the device issued to your student by the district was not returned during the established collection dates (please ignore this message if the mobile device has already been returned). For this reason, the Information Technology department has determined Wednesday, June 10 as a make-up day . Only 8 TH , 12 TH , and 13 th grade students will return their devices (iPad/laptop) . During and after the collection process devices will be checked for major physical damage, keyboard damage, and screen damage (corresponding charges will be created). Devices not turning on will be checked by a Technician for internal damage, which may result in a charge. Device (iPads and laptops) collection will take place at the Information Technology Department. ***Please see return device schedule and location map on pages 3-4*** RETURN PROCEDURE The collection process will be Drive-Thru only . 8th, 12th, and 13th graders - who are taking summer school or have an extended year through their IEP, please keep your devices. (Return procedures will be provided to you once you complete using your device.)

RETURN PROCEDURE

The collection process will be Drive-Thru only. All families are expected to have a mask and follow social distancing protocols.

Please follow the next steps before returning your computer device:

At Home

1. Charge the device.2. Back up all data (if any).3. For iPads, remove passcode.4. After charging your device, please return the following accessories as shown:

USB cable and power brick (iPad). Only the Apple power brick will be accepted. Power cable (laptop). Only Lenovo power cable will be accepted. Wrap the power cord (see pictures below)

5. Check for any physical damage and test all buttons/ports.6. Take pictures of the device from all sides (including asset tag/bar code). Save pictures in your

google drive or cloud in case future clarification is needed.7. Bring the student ID card. Write your child’s name and ID number in large print on a sheet of

paper that can be easily read by staff members from a distance of at least 6 feet. Place this on the dash of your car or be prepared to show it to staff.

Return Process at Location: Please see the place, date and time that corresponds based on your student’s last name on page 3 and make sure to be at the location during the time range stated to avoid any delay or traffic congestion.

1. For everyone’s safety, the Return Process will be Drive-Thru only . You must have a mask and follow social distancing protocols.

2. Bring the student ID card and write your child’s name, ID number in large print on a sheet of paper that can be easily read by staff members from a distance of at least 6 feet. Place this on the dash of your car or be prepared to show it to staff.

3. It is recommended that only one person return the device.4. When you arrive at the location, please ensure you adhere to all social distancing guidelines and

have your nose and mouth covered. Staff will be adhering to the guidelines on social distancing and following protocols to protect everyone. Please remain in your vehicle at all times and follow directions for the designated path. A staff member will come to your vehicle to verify your information.

5. If you have a mask or a “do-it-yourself” face covering (scarf, bandana), please wear it during this process. The County of San Diego is encouraging this for all encounters outside of your home.

6. Please see the place, date and time that corresponds based on your student last name on page 3 and make sure to be at the location during the time range stated to avoid any delay or traffic congestion.

7. Have your power cord ready (wrapped-DO NOT separate). See the pictures on page #1.8. All devices will be evaluated for damaged screens, damaged keyboards, and major physical

damage during and at the end of this process and charges may apply. It is recommended to take a picture of the device at home (include asset tag/bar code). Devices not turning on will be checked by a Technician for internal damage, which may result in a charge. Because of the coronavirus contingency, the devices will not be available for inspection after you have returned the device.

A RETURN NOTIFICATION MESSAGE WILL BE SENT TO PARENT/GUARDIAN (PRIMARY CONTACT) AND STUDENT BY E-MAIL THE SAME DAY THE DEVICE IS RETURNED.

SAVE THE E-MAIL FOR FUTURE REFERENCE AS NEEDED.

Note: If you do not have transportation for the Drive-Thru Only to return your student’s device, please send a message to [email protected] and include the following information:
