A Message from Pastor Cho:

The Quester Fairfield Grace United

Methodist Church

October

2019

To My Dearest FGUMC family members and friends,

Where do you go after work before going home? Those who are retired, where do you go before or after food shopping? “The Sanctuary is open for YOU” to take rest and pray.

“The Sanctuary is Open for You!”

Have you seen the two street signs in front of the church and the banner on the fence on the corner of the church front lawn at the traffic intersection?

“Tired? Burned Out? Come and Rest. The Sanctuary is Open for You!”

Our Sanctuary is open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 5 pm for 2 ½ hours every week. Try to come and take rest in solitude with God once a week; you will be re-freshed, renewed and re-strengthened. Come and go as you wish. Let your FRAN (Friends, Relatives, Associates and Neighbors) know that our Sanctuary is open for them, as well. It is a priceless gift we at FGUMC can offer to people in our community and a way of reaching out and welcoming our neighbors to Fairfield Grace.

Blessings,

Kun Sam, your great small church pastor

Youth Connection Ministry in Honor of Nick Leppla (Tentatively Titled)

Meeting Sunday, Oct 6 at 11:00 am

In memory of the recent loss of one of our own young adult church family members, and in response to the distress and untimely death of too many young people in our broader community, we feel the need to take some positive action. We are calling all interested church members to see how we can best support our church youth who

are away at school, and/or just starting their working life; and also to counteract these disturbing trends and act in love to serve those in need of information, sup-

port, and healing. The next meeting is Sunday, Oct 6 following the 10:00 am service. We invite everyone to participate.

Contact Kristina Joukhadar at [email protected] or 203-414-7366.

Blood Pressure Screening on Sunday, Oct 6 following joint service

We are in the process of creating a Parish Nurse Program. The main goal of this program

is to work in collaboration with the church leaders to provide health promotion and

prevention services to the whole church community.

As your Parish nurse, I am prepared to play a variety of roles including educator,

counselor and advocate for individuals and families within our church.

I will be offering blood pressure screenings available for the whole

congregation every first Sunday of the month after service. Please feel

free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

P. Noble Flower Ministry at FGUMC is Blooming!

Trader Joe’s in Fairfield on Black Rock Turnpike generously donates excess flowers to the

church every week for Sunday services. The donation is picked up and arranged in vases by

the efforts of John and Pat Bailey and Karen Benson. Our thanks to Trader Joe’s and this

new ministry (called P. Noble Flower Ministry) at Fairfield Grace. Special thanks to

John and Pat Bailey for creating this new ministry here at our church.

We hope people continue to enjoy these flowers at Sunday services and share them by

distributing to FRAN that cannot be here at church or are in need of a little cheer.

Consider a Bequest to Fairfield Grace in Your Will

Your gifts to Fairfield Grace ensure the means to continue the mission and ministry of the church into the fu-

ture. Members and friends are encouraged to make a bequest in a Will to benefit the church or specific minis-

tries of the church.

Ways to designate the amount of your bequest:

Specific Dollar Amount,

I give, devise and bequest to Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church located at 1089 Fairfield Woods

Road Fairfield, CT the sum of ________ dollars ($ _______) {or specifically described personal or real

property} for its general uses and purposes. [The bequest can also designate

specific ministries or purposes for its use.]

Specific Percentage,

I give; devise and bequest to Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church located at 1089 Fairfield Woods

Road Fairfield, CT an amount equal to ___ percent (__ %) of the value of my gross or net estate, both

real and personal for its general uses and purposes. [The bequest can also designate specific ministries

or purposes for its use.]

Residual Bequest,

I give; devise and bequest to Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church located at 1089 Fairfield Woods

Road Fairfield, CT the entire residue of my estate, both real and personal for its general uses and

purposes. [The bequest can also designate specific ministries or purposes for its use.]

The bequest can be added as a codicil/attachment to your current Will. If you don’t have a Will the State of

Connecticut will determine who receives your estate after your death. Anyone that owns a house should have a

Will if they know who they want to receive their remaining estate. It will also keep the cost of settling the

estate down.

(These are suggestions and should be approved by your attorney.)
