Quilts of Valor “My quilt isn’t another military medal to be placed in a box and sit on my shelf.

I was moved to tears.” ~SSgt RC, US Army, Iraq ‘05

Catherine Roberts began Quilts of Valor to provide all returning service men and women with a tangible

reminder of an American’s appreciation and gratitude. Combat troops who have been wounded or touched

by war are awarded this token of appreciation that unequivocally says, ―Thank you for your service, sacrifice,

and valor.‖ A Quilt of Valor is a generous lap-sized quilt (minimum of 55 X 65).

Join us for our Quilts of Valor sew day and let’s see how many quilts we can make! We will supply backing

Youth Sewing Let’s Make a Quilt!

Julie Richardson Julie enjoys making small art quilts using the embellishing

machine to create randomly felted pieces. Wool roving, fibers,

sheer fabrics, and embellishments are all in her toolbox. She

begins by pulling colors from her stash and whatever

happens, happens! It’s fun! And sometimes if the goddess of

quilting is with her, she finds unexpected surprises in the

randomly created pieces.

Julie will demo her exciting techniques on the

embellisher and showcase some of her work. The

event will wrap up with a chance for you to test out

hand felting and the embellisher.
