The Raising Aspirations Program: College, Career, & Self Exploration This program will be limited to 25 10th grade students. If more than 25 students apply, stu- dents will be selected based on the following criteria: motivation to explore future opportunities, commitment to attending weekly meetings, and program events, priority given to students who will be in the first generation to attend college, desire for focused future planning sup- port. • Attend weekly group meetings. Students will meet in small groups once a week during 1/2 of their free block;

• Attend our monthly field trip to colleges and commu-nity resources.

• Active participation in program activities (job shadow, interest inventories, community service day, college and career exploration, etc.);

• Consider the Introduction to College Studies course at CCV college (this is recommended but NOT required ). This class will meet once a week beginning at the end of January at CCV’s Winooski campus. CVU bus transportation will be provided; and

• Motivation to explore future opportunities (including the possibility of college).

• Earn 1/2 CVU elective credit

• Receive future planning support

• Take an overnight trip to New Eng-land colleges junior year;

• Enroll in a FREE course at CCV called Introduction to College Studies and then…

• …..Have the opportunity to take a future college class (for free!);

• Participate in community service opportunities;

• Experience a day-long job shadow

• Enjoy community resource visits—such as VSAC and the Department of Employment and Training ; and

• Have A GREAT TIME!!!.
