The Real Secret to Colocation Privacy and Security This month I am going to show you a product that is gaining a lot of traction lately. Why? Well, like everything else in IT, when a problem appears, there is a scramble to get it solved. And, the latest threat to your organizations security could be lurking right in the colocation facility in which you maintain some of your IT hardware. While your equipment is safely locked up in its little cage, protected from prying fin- gers, it is still completely visible to nosy, and perhaps dishonest, passersby. You see, even though someone with bad intentions cant touch your hardware, they can see it and therefore know exactly which brands and models of equipment you use. That gives them a big head start on trying to gain access to your valuable information. Enter the Great Lakes Data Center Privacy Panel Sys- tem. Designed in response to the growing demand for additional layers of privacy and security in coloca- tion facilities, the modular system uses panels, posts, and doors that can be easily installed on-site. Panels and doors are available with either 1.25” square hole patterns or completely sol- id, thus, thoroughly restricting unauthorized access. Problem solved! If you have equipment housed in a colo facility, tell them you want an important layer of security added to your area. Tell them you want the Great Lakes Data Center Privacy Panel System installed to protect your equipment. If you operate a colo facility, as several of my clients do, you need to have this system available to offer your clients, many of whom WILL be demanding greater security and privacy, if they havent already done so. Give your clients what they want, enhance your offerings and im- prove your bottom line. Call me today for more information. Somebody could be snooping around right now. The Real Secret to Colocation Privacy and Security This month I am going to show you a product that is gaining a lot of traction lately.

Why? Well, like everything else in IT, when a problem appears, there is a scramble to

get it solved. And, the latest threat to your organization’s security could be lurking right

in the colocation facility in which you maintain some of your IT hardware.

While your equipment is safely locked up in its little cage, protected from prying fin-

gers, it is still completely visible to nosy, and perhaps dishonest, passersby. You see,

even though someone with bad intentions can’t touch your hardware, they can see it and

therefore know exactly which brands and models of equipment you use. That gives

them a big head start on trying to gain access to your valuable information.

Enter the Great Lakes Data Center Privacy Panel Sys-

tem. Designed in response to the growing demand

for additional layers of privacy and security in coloca-

tion facilities, the modular system uses panels, posts,

and doors that can be easily installed on-site.

Panels and doors are available with either 1.25” square hole patterns or completely sol-

id, thus, thoroughly restricting unauthorized access. Problem solved!

If you have equipment housed in a colo facility, tell them you want an

important layer of security added to your area. Tell them you want the

Great Lakes Data Center Privacy Panel System installed to protect

your equipment.

If you operate a colo facility, as several of my clients do, you need to

have this system available to offer your clients, many of whom WILL

be demanding greater security and privacy, if they haven’t already done

so. Give your clients what they want, enhance your offerings and im-

prove your bottom line.

Call me today for more information. Somebody could be snooping around right now.

Something to Think About…Revco’s 48th Anniversary No video this month. Instead, I am going to blow my own horn a little. November also marks the 48th anniversary of Revco! My many Thanks to all of you for your support and continued business. Thank you very, very much.

November 1, 1968—November 1, 2016

Wow, this is a busy month! First and fore-most, we have an important election com-ing up; one that will shape the future of this country for a very long time.

Now, I am not going to get political here. Many of you who know me well are al-ready familiar with my thoughts and views on politics. Over the years, I’ve even in-cluded a few of my rather pithy comments about various topics (i.e. the global warm-ing scam) right here in the pages of my monthly Revco newsletter, FYI.

But, one thing is clear. We all need to think long and hard about the politicians we support and vote for those who best reflect the values and ethics you want to see in our government.

This election cycle has managed to accom-plish one important thing. For those who don’t pay close attention to politics, it has

pulled back the curtain on the behind-the-scenes ugliness involving corruption, lies, pay-offs and other dishonest behaviors going on in our government. For those of us who do pay attention, it has validated our concerns. Now, we all have to decide if we want to tolerate this stuff, or clean it up and, as they say, throw the bums out.

Hey, I guess I did get a little political. My apologies. Well, at least we can all look forward to Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday season with its family get-togethers, parties and good times.

It will be nice when the bitterness of the political season comes to an end and we can enjoy the holidays in relative calm; at least until you have that pointed discussion with your non-like-minded relative around the Thanksgiving table!

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiv-ing. Enjoy the time with your family and make it special. All the best to you and your family this holiday season.

Client Corner This month I want to thank several great clients for their recent orders for new UPS’s.

First, Chris Zissis and Alex Del Campo at the UConn School of Business Ad-ministration in Stor r s, CT ordered their new 20kVA Liebert APS UPS sys-tem to replace an old APC UPS.

Paul Bertuglia of Inline Plastics in Shelton, CT is also replacing an old APC UPS. Paul will be installing a new 8kVA Liebert GXT4 UPS.

A big Thank You to Chris, Alex and Paul for their decisions to purchase their industry-leading Liebert UPS systems.

November Sudoku History of US Elections As you head to the polls this month, you

might wonder about why the election is

held in November and how our election

laws evolved.

In the early days of

elections, buying votes

with booze was legal.

A custom brought over

from England, it was

tradition in Virginia to roll barrels of liquor

to the courthouse lawns and polling places

on Election Day. In fact, in 1758, a young

candidate in Virginia for the House of Bur-

gesses (the first legislative assembly in the

American colonies) footed a huge liquor

bill to woo voters on Election Day. George

Washington spent his entire campaign

budget, 50 pounds, on 160 gallons of liquor

served to 391 voters.

Voting was done differently too. Votes

could be conducted by public voice votes,

and political parties also handed out pre-

printed ballots for voters to cast. This en-

sured that people voted for a party ticket. It

wasn’t until 1892 that the Secret Ballot,

cast by a mechanical lever voting machine,

became common in America. This was used

until 2010, when it was replaced with the

electronic digital voting machines and opti-

cally scanned paper ballots.

The Constitution didn’t spell out when

Election Day was either. Individual states

determined when their own election days

were. The only rule was that federal elec-

tions involving the Electoral College need-

ed to be done by mid-December. The

weather and farming dictated when elec-

tions were held because farmers weren’t

able to travel easily until harvest was over.

Winter conditions made it difficult to travel,

which is why elections happened in late

fall. In 1845, Congress set a uniform day

for presidential elections.

Election Facts

Ronald Reagan won in 49 out of 50

states during the 1984 Presidential elec-

tion, missing out in one state by less

than 4,000 votes.

North Korea holds elections every 5

years and there is only one candidate

on the ballot.

Thanksgiving Hacks

1. Instead of scrubbing your potatoes by

hand, save time by putting them in the

dishwasher on a quick rinse cycle

without soap.

2. Use a slow cooker to keep your mash

potatoes warm. Butter the slow cooker

insert, add a little heavy cream and

spoon in potatoes. Set the temp to low

and stir once an hour to keep your

potatoes smooth.

3. Chill wine faster by putting a handful of

salt in a bucket of water and ice. The

salt allows the mixture of ice and water

to be colder than just ice and water

alone. The water is a more efficient

conductor of cold than ice alone, al-

lowing your wine to chill in a fraction of

the time.
