My family and I talked about God’s faithfulness to us in the past in hopes of God’s assurance for the future. In our retelling of stories, I visited one of my old journals and came across this story from 6 years ago: Early this morning, Caroline [four years old at this time] rose early. I was already sitting in the recliner and she sheepishly walked over to me pushing my hands off the paper so that she could climb into my lap. After a few minutes, she looked up at me and said, “Daddy, are we still moving?” “Yes, sweetheart”, I replied. “Well, I don’t know the way, what if I get lost?” she said with fear in her eyes. After a few seconds, I looked down at her and said, “Caroline, you need to know that your father knows the way and I would never let you get lost.” As soon as I said those words, her fear and anxiety subsided. She smiled her beautiful smile, gave me a kiss, and instantly declared she was ready to watch cartoons. “What if I get lost?” What a piercing question! Being lost is a terrible feeling. To have no direction or bearing can quickly develop into the sensation of no hope. When we are lost, it is easy to see how fear and anxiety can rule our lives. Every time I reflect upon that question, I hear another voice that strikes at the heart of fear. It is a voice of faith, “Shane, your Heavenly Father knows the way and would never let you get lost.” What assurance and hope! Think with me of all the scriptures which seek to convey God’s assurance given to all of his children. One of the last messages Jesus gave to his disciples was that same message of hope. John 14 tells us that He knows the way…and we don’t have to fear. Draw strength and comfort from the knowledge that the God we worship knows the way.

    The Call to Prayer

Take this moment to prepare to speak to the One who is more focused upon our hearts than upon our words. One who is more committed to us and our soul’s well being than we are to our body’s comforts and pleasures. One who has shown us by the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ the seriousness with which He makes our appointment. The only One who loves us just because His love is greater than our sin. Free yourself in these moments from your fear-filled secrets by prayerfully confessing them in the presence of our Heavenly Father.

    ST. PAUL PRESCHOOL UPDATE

    Dear Parents:

After much thought and continued prayer, I have decided that I must resign as Director of St Paul Preschool effective no later than Wednesday, October 31, depending on when a replacement director is hired. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at St Paul. Each one of you is so important to me. St Paul is such a wonderful environment to work in but I just feel that being a full time mom is what I need to do right now. I feel devoting 100% of my time and efforts to my family is what I need to do. I appreciate the opportunity I was given to serve as the Preschool Director, I will treasure the memories, and I am so thankful for the support each one of you has given me.

    Blessings~ Shelley Hill

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Pastoral Prayer..........................................................................................Rev. John Fugh, Jr. The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Amen.

ST.
