Our Chef

Our Executive Chef, Christopher Kurtzo, earned degrees in Culinary Arts and Food and Beverage Management

from Johnson and Wales University.

He has worked in several hotels and restaurants, and owned a successful café and catering company. All menu

items are prepared in-house under his direction.

Our Director of Sales, Hillary Williamson, has planned thousands of successful events. Please contact her to

schedule an appointment to view our facility, or to check available dates. Evening and weekend appointments are

Who are the Shriners?

The Shriners are a fraternal organization with a charitable goal of operating 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children (18 Orthopaedic Hospitals, 3 Burn Hospitals, and 1 Hospital that provides Orthopaedic, Burn, and

Spinal Injury Care).

All care provided at Shriners Hospitals is TOTALLY WITHOUT CHARGE to the patient and family.

Donation Program Making a donation to a charitable organization such as Shriners Hospitals for Children, is a meaningful way to

recognize your wedding guests and thank them for being part of your special day. We offer two plans

(Option 1: In lieu of wedding favors / Option 2: In lieu of wedding gifts) and supply you with the appropriate

wedding table cards and inserts.

Gifts such as these enable us to provide expert pediatric specialty care to children with orthopaedic conditions,

cleft lip and palate, and rheumatologic conditions regardless of the patients’ ability to pay. You can take pride in knowing that you have given a child a better

The venue was just perfect. We had approximately 120 guests and the facility accommodated them perfectly. This is not a huge venue, so the cocktail room was very comfortable while still allowing people enough room to mingle and the bar area is quite large. There is a fireplace for ambiance as well. The reception room has a large dance floor, but the room isn’t overly large. It provided a beautiful intimate setting and allowed guests to mingle and have fun.

Hillary Williamson is the Director of Sales and I cannot say enough about her and her staff. They were all wonderful. Hillary is a joy to work with. She is very accommodating, and has great ideas and suggestions. She definitely goes above and beyond and is just a wonderful person. The food and drinks were great as well. The venue is not as well-known as other wedding / occasion venues in the state, but it is well worth checking out, and I’m sure it will become a popular venue for weddings and other special occasions!

Our wedding reception was beautiful. Hillary and Patrick made the evening as stress free as possible.

Our reception was in December and we had a major snowstorm, the staff was able to move up the service in order for our guests to enjoy the reception but still make it home safely. The entire staff was welcoming and also seamlessly handled food allergy concerns. The menu choices were very good and allowed all of my guests to enjoy their meal.

The site offered great indoor photo opportunities (thankfully because of the snow that day), there is a large staircase in the foyer and fireplace inside the bar area. Thank you for providing an amazing experience.

General Information

Menu Selections

The Imperial Room at One Rhodes Place offers a large selection of menus appropriate for all types of special occasions. All catering is done in-house, and is under the direction of our Executive Chef, Christopher Kurtzo. All menu selections should be submitted at least one month prior to the event date to ensure availability. THE IMPERIAL ROOM DOES NOT PERMIT OUTSIDE CATERING OF ANY KIND. PLEASE NOTE: THE CUSTOMER MAY PROVIDE A CAKE OR OTHER BAKED DESSERT ITEMS if preferred. PLEASE NOTE: The Imperial Room at One Rhodes Place can usually accommodate most dietary requests with advance notice. Please be aware that all food and beverage products served at the RI Shriners may contain nuts and other common food allergens. We try to make every attempt to identify ingredients that may cause allergic reactions for those with food allergies, and every effort is made to instruct our food and beverage preparation staff on the severity of food allergies, but please be aware that there is always a risk of contamination. There is also a possibility that manufacturers of the commercial foods and beverage mixers we use could change the formulation at any time, without notice. Customers concerned with food allergies need to be aware of this risk. If you have a food allergy, please ask a staff member to inform the management and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.

Guarantees A final count of the number of persons attending the event will be required at least seven days prior to the function date. The Customer will be charged for the minimum number of Guests required, OR the total number of Guests that are guaranteed – WHICHEVER IS GREATER. PLEASE NOTE: The Imperial Room provides adequate food for the number of guests that are guaranteed. Due to liability reasons, any remaining food may not be removed from the premises.

Catering Prices Prices will be confirmed ninety days prior to the function date. All reservations booked are tentative until the responsible party signs the proposal and remits the required deposit. Rental charges and deposit fees apply to all functions, and vary based on the type of event.

Service Charge & Applicable Taxes A taxable Service Charge of 20% will be added to all food and beverage items. All prices quoted, unless otherwise specified, are also subject to 7% Rhode Island State Sales Tax, and 1% Local Food & Beverage Sales Tax. If an organization is tax-exempt, a copy of the exemption certificate must be received in advance of the event. PLEASE NOTE: Tax identification numbers will not be accepted as proof of exemption.

Payments A deposit (amount to be specified at the time of booking) is necessary for all functions. Full payment of an estimated bill for functions of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or greater must be paid three (3) business days in advance of the function by cash, bank check, certified check, or money order except in cases where credit arrangements have been previously approved. All checks should be made payable to THE RHODE ISLAND SHRINERS. A $25.00 fee will be charged for all returned checks.

Deliveries The Customer may deliver all non-perishable items the day before the event between the hours of 9:30 am – 4:30 pm. For Sunday functions, all deliveries will be accepted the FRIDAY before the function between the hours of 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Imperial Room Staff will set up all items at no additional charge, with the exception of chair covers (unless rented through The Imperial Room). PLEASE NOTE: The Imperial Room is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

Vendor deliveries (Bands, DJs, Cake, Floral, etc.) will be accepted 2 HOURS prior to the function.

Audio / Visual Aids The Room Rental Fee includes the use of an 8’ diagonal projector screen, microphone / podium (lectern), and cordless microphone if required. Additional audio / visual materials may be rented with advance notice (at least 10 days, please) to ensure availability.

Complimentary WIFI is also available for events.

PLEASE NOTE: If the Customer requests that The Imperial Room is to rent additional audio / visual materials for their function, the Customer will be charged for all applicable rental, delivery, set-up, attendant, breakdown, and pick-up charges. In addition, full payment of an estimated invoice must be received at least three days in advance of the event.

The Customer may provide their own audio / visual materials if preferred. The Imperial Room is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items, or for equipment malfunction.

Decorations Centerpieces that have candles must be enclosed. Glitter, rose petals, confetti (of any size), and hanging wall and ceiling decorations will not be permitted.

PLEASE NOTE: If glitter, rose petals, or confetti is used without the Imperial Room’s consent, a $150.00 cleaning fee will be charged.

Chair Covers OPTIONAL: The Imperial Room will provide white or ivory chair covers for $2.00 each (Includes choice of sash color, and all labor and cleaning fees) with advance notice (at least ten days in advance, please).

IF THE CUSTOMER PROVIDES THEIR OWN CHAIR COVERS OR SASHES FOR AN EVENT, the fees are as follows: $1.00 per chair to put on the chair covers / sashes, and $.25 per chair to remove them at the conclusion of the event (fees are in addition to regular rental charges). ALL CHAIR COVERS / SASHES MUST BE DELIVERED THE DAY BEFORE THE EVENT, unless other satisfactory arrangements have been approved in advance of the function.

Linen Selections The Imperial Room At One Rhodes Place provides basic linen selections at no additional charge to the Customer.

PLEASE NOTE: Shrine Events and / or Member Sponsored Events that qualify for Special Room

Rental Rates – A $25.00 Linen / Labor Charge will be applied to the final invoice.

Linen choices must be selected at least two weeks in advance of the event to ensure availability.

An additional charge of $5.00 per tablecloth will be charged for guests requesting a second linen topper

(8-point drape on a 60” Round).

The Customer may also provide their own linens (Tablecloths and / or Runners) for the tables as well. ALL LINENS MUST BE DELIVERED THE DAY BEFORE THE EVENT, unless other satisfactory arrangements

have been approved in advance of the function.

Vendor Information The Imperial Room does not permit outside catering, although any other vendor (DJ, Bands, Wedding Cakes, Photo Booths, etc.) may be contracted by the Customer.

Please notify The Imperial Room regarding delivery times, contact information for vendors, and if anything should need to be returned (cake boards, vases, platters, etc.) at the conclusion of the event. The Imperial Room is not responsible for lost or damaged items, or for equipment malfunction.

PLEASE NOTE: If you should need to have a vendor visit The Imperial Room to discuss the set-up arrangements, take measurements, etc., we ask that you contact the Sales Office at 401.467.7102 to make an appointment, so that we may ensure that other scheduled private events are not interrupted. * IS THIS A "HALL"?

No. The Imperial Room is a beautiful full-service banquet venue featuring on premise catering, elegant decor, complimentary event planning, plentiful free off-street parking, and fully handicapped accessible facilities. The Imperial Room is available year-round for all types of special events.

* DO YOU NEED TO BE A SHRINER TO RENT THE IMPERIAL ROOM?

No. Anyone can rent The Imperial Room. However, if you ARE a Shriner, and have a valid dues card, you qualify for special discounts for your event!

* IF I HAVE AN EVENT AT THE IMPERIAL ROOM, ARE ANY MONIES SPENT TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

No. Proceeds from The Imperial Room are for the benefit of the Rhode Island Shriners, and are not tax deductible. However, all proceeds help to defray the operating costs of the Shrine, where our Hospital Offices are based.

* WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE ROOM RENTAL FEE?

Please note that additional fees will be charged for the set-up of chair covers / sashes, unless provided by The Imperial Room. In addition, if glitter, confetti, or rose petals are used without The Imperial Room's consent, a $150.00 additional cleaning fee will be charged.

The following audio / visual materials are also included in the Room Rental Fee (first come, first served): microphone / podium, cordless microphone, easels, and 6' diagonal projection screen.

* CAN I BRING IN MY OWN FOOD OR BEVERAGES?

No. Due to liability reasons, we do not permit outside catering of any kind, with the exception of bakery desserts that may be used to supplement your menu (i.e., wedding & birthday cakes). We are happy to cut, plate, and serve your desserts at no additional charge.

All beverages must be purchased through The Imperial Room. Guests must be 21 years of age to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages. Proper ID is required.

* CAN I BRING IN MY OWN AUDIO / VISUAL MATERIALS, SPECIALTY LINENS, ETC. FOR AN EVENT?

Yes. You may provide any audio / visual materials, specialty linens, etc. for your event, or we can make arrangements to rent them on your behalf. If the Customer requests that The Imperial Room is to secure any rentals for an event, a ten (10) day notice is required. In addition, the Customer will be charged for all applicable rental, delivery, set-up, attendant, breakdown, pickup fees. These fees will be itemized on the final invoice, and full payment of an estimated bill must be received at least three (3) days in advance of the event. The Imperial Room is not responsible for lost or stolen materials, or for equipment malfunction.

* IF I SUBMIT AN INITIAL DEPOSIT TO RESERVE A DATE, AND THE EVENT IS CANCELLED, DO I GET A REFUND?

Events booked are tentative until the required deposit (amounts required vary based on the type of the event) is received. It is the policy of The Imperial Room to refund the initial deposit if the date can be resold. 9

Deposits to secure an available date may be made via cash, personal check, money order, or credit card.

Full payment of an estimated bill for functions of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or greater must be paid three (3) business days in advance of the function by cash, bank check, certified check, or money order except in cases where credit arrangements have been previously approved.

Deliveries of all non-perishable items may be delivered the day before an event, between the hours of 9:30 am - 4:30 pm. In the case of a Sunday event, deliveries will be accepted the FRIDAY before the event, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm. To ensure that other scheduled events are not interrupted, we ask that you kindly contact the Sales Office at 401.467.7102 to schedule any deliveries.

Vendors may make deliveries 1 hours - 2 hours before the start of an event, unless other satisfactory arrangements have been made IN ADVANCE.

* CAN I DECORATE FOR MY EVENT? Yes. Please note that candles must be enclosed, and we do not permit glitter, confetti (of any size) or rose petals.

In regards to the staircase, please note that the Customer may provide decorations for the stairs. The Customer understands that live plants and / or live garland or greenery will be accepted for use as decorations, and that any Bows / Ribbon that is used should be marked “non-flammable”. Full access to the handrails must be available at all times.
