President’s Message

GOFEST October 15 - 17 Let's look ahead. Your club will have a display at this year's Roanoke GOFest. And this year the fun will be downtown Roanoke. We need your help. Linda Harrison is putting together a schedule of volunteers to man the test. We need 3 ‘day captains’ and persons to work for a few hours. Contact Linda or myself. Having worked GOFest for a few years I can tell you it is fun. Trips are still planned for Portugal and Switzerland/Italy. We are here to enjoy. Let's keep doing it. Jeff Wendell, President

To actively promote and engage our members' appreciation of

the outdoors, our love of skiing, travel, and adventure.

TRIPS

Ski Trips Snow brings a special quality to life and the RSAC skiers are very excited about the 2022 season! We only have four open spaces available this winter. Our Snowmass/Aspen Trip, February 5th - March 5th has one, two-bedroom condo available. Join the group at one of the Club’s favorite Colorado’s ski resorts. Ski over 3,500 acres at Snowmass and shuttle to all three of Aspen’s mountains; Ajax, Highlands, and Buttermilk. Our lodging at the beautiful Top of the Village ski-in/ski-out Condos is a 2021 Trip Advisor Traveler’s Choice Award winner. Please contact Steve Worman, [email protected] Mark your calendar for the November 3rd Membership Meeting, to welcome Doug Horstman with Emcompasse Tours our most excellent Winter Ski Tour Operator. Find out the latest trends shaping the ski industry and his thoughts on exciting winter destinations for 2023! We have a very enthusiastic group of skiers this year and two of our four trips; Deer Valley and Big Sky are full. Additionally, we have maxed out the Utah Double Trippers with 17 club members!

Adventure Trips The Swiss-Italy Great Train trip departs on September 5 as scheduled. On July 23 members gathered at our pre-trip party at the Big Lick Brewery in downtown Roanoke. Bill Fleshman, Trip Leader and Pete Kovacevic from Alpine Adventures gave an overview of the itinerary and requirements for travel. While none of the trip locations and activities have been impacted by the pandemic there are specific procedures we have to follow returning from our trip. Pete explained these in detail and to the satisfaction of our travelers. Everyone is looking forward to a fun, exciting trip training and hiking throughout Switzerland and Italy. We have decided to take a short pause on planning additional Adventure Trips for 2022. We have many great options in mind, and as soon as Travel Advisories stabilize, we will start securing destinations. Marla Kemsey, Trip Director Bill Fleshman, Assistant Trip Director
