The Conference aims to bring together perspectives on the governance and role of the legalprofessionbyinternationalexpertsandrepresentativesofbarassociationsfromawiderangeofcountries. The interventions will provide a comparative view on the conditions andrequirements that lawyers should comply with while carrying out their professional duty ofprotection of human rights of their clients. Participants of the Conference will address inparticular the organization and governance of the legal profession, lawyers’ ethics andqualification of lawyers. Special attentionwill be given to the role of training for lawyers inshapingan independent legalprofessionandthemanifoldresourcesofferedby theCouncilofEuropeandtheInternationalCommissionofJuriststothateffect.
