The Spirit of the Lord
is upon me,
because he has
anointed me
to bring glad tidings
to the poor.
He has sent me to
proclaim liberty
to captives
and recovery
of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed
go free,
and to proclaim
a year acceptable
to the Lord.

Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
“But as it is, God placed the parts, each one of them, in the body as he intended. ...Indeed, the
parts of the body that seem to be weaker are all the more necessary...”
1 Corinthians 12:18, 22
We are all part of God’s family and have something to contribute. Weaker members of the family may bless us
with the opportunity to be good stewards by helping them as Christ would help.

Join your St. Augustine and Holy Name of Mary family and friends for the
Christ is the Light Mission on Sunday – Tuesday, March 3-5, 2019. Gary Mont-
gomery, a member of St. Bernadette Parish in Louisville, will be our presenter.
He was a television sportscaster for over 30 years and today shares the “Good
News” and Christian motivation in Catholic Churches.
Gary has shared the Christ is the Light message at missions, confirmation re-
treats, men’s and women’s retreats, and church events throughout Kentucky
and beyond! He was a catechist at his home parish for over 25 years where he worked with 8th graders and
helped them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. The goal is the same during the 3-night Mission. The
church will be filled with fun, story-telling, scripture, laughter and spiritual motivation.
The Mission theme is “Christ is the Light” – Sunday, March 3, the focus is “Find the Light,” Monday, March
4, the focus is “Become the Light,” and Tuesday, March 5, the focus is “Give the Light Away.” It’s a short
course in our Catholic Faith!
The Mission begins each night at 7:00 pm. We look forward to seeing you at the Mission. Bring a friend!
Holy Name of Mary Facilities Up-Date
We are moving forward with our Holy Name of Mary Capital Campaign. The Campaign has five goals.
The contract for #1, Church soffits and louvers, was awarded to Campbellsville Industries and Melson’s Roofing for a combined total of $76,268.00. You may see workers getting measurements in the near future. We are slated for the last week of February to have the louvers removed and templates made. Of course the weather will have a lot to do with the ability for the company to stay on schedule. The cornice will be added also in the spring. The first project should be completed by the end of Spring.
If you look in the weekly bulletin, you will notice that we have enough funds in the bank to pay for this first project. Total received funds are $77,523.57, with 79 families pledging. The pledged amount totals $152,504.65. We hope more families will make pledges or one time contributions to help increase our cash received. These increased accumulated funds will allow us to take bids on the Church parking lot resurfacing (project #2) this summer. Again it may take several months to complete.
The Administration Committee deemed it necessary that the Church doors need to be replaced now. The doors were part of #4 Church Interior project. The Administration Committee is currently getting bids. An estimated cost is $12,000 to $15,000 for all new Church doors and framing. These doors will be as maintenance free as possible. This is money that we have not received yet. Please offer your contributions to our Church Capital Campaign if you have not done so!
Another Facilities update involves rain damage to the Choir loft. The leakage has improved since flashing was added but it has not stopped. It was determined that the rain was seeping through the bricks like it did behind the Church altar a few years ago. As soon as the weather allows, the bricks will be sealed by the same company that mows the lawn. This is not part of the Capital Campaign, just maintenance and repairs.
The parish rectory will be vacated by our current tenants at the end of January. The possibility of a retired priest using this house will be studied.
St. Augustine Facilities Up-Date
We have received a donation for a small parcel of land on the back lot of Mr. Charles Lancaster Sr.’s home. The land is adjacent to the Parish Hall parking lot off Chandler Street. Mr. Lancaster received an egress and ingress to his property from said parking lot.
The corner parking lot on Spalding Ave. and Mulberry Street (formerly Druthers) has been sold for $100,000 to Erica Barnes. The funds will be placed in the Capital Savings account for future repairs. NOTE: The Administration Committee is looking into the resur-facing of the large school parking lot and the sealing and striping of all other parking lots this summer.
The Parish Hall windows are in need of replacement and bids are being taken.
PROJECT GOALS – items are prioritized as follows: (dates have been updated)
1. Church soffits and louvers. Fall 2018 - Spring 2019 2. Resurface Parish Parking lot. Summer 2019 - Fall 2019 3. Beautification of the courtyard. Spring 2020 – Summer 2020 4. Church interior. Spring 2021 – Fall 2021 5. Bell Tower. Fall 2021 – Spring 2022
