News For Our Parishes
Parish News Faith Formation News The Catholic Accent Collection
Next weekend a second collection will be taken in our Uniontown Parishes for The Catholic Accent. Each parish is assessed for a subscription to The Catholic Accent for every household in the parish ($15.00 per household), so we very much appreciate those who use their Catholic Accent envelope. We will take this collection four times a year, so you may choose to contribute quarterly, semi-annually, or make a one-time offering to help defray this parish expense. The Catholic Accent publication includes eight newspapers and four quarterly magazines per year. Checks should be made payable to your parish.
Mardi Gras The Roman Catholic Churches of Uniontown will sponsor a Pre-Lenten Mardi Gras Dinner Dance on Saturday, February 15th at the Hopwood Social Hall. Your evening will include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, dessert, open bar, Mardi Gras beads, masks and more!
Table reservations are available for 8, 10, 12, or 14 and confirmed upon payment in full. Ticket price and dinner menu information will follow in upcoming bulletins.
Entertainment provided by DJ Rambo, a seasoned veteran with over 15 years behind decks keeping the party rockin for everybody from high school proms to weddings to corporate events and parties. And a special guest drummer from the band Airborne, a Pittsburgh-based band.
Christian Sesek, a native of Brownsville, Pennsylvania, will also be performing. Christian discovered Frank Sinatra’s voice at eight years old and has been singing Rat Pack classics ever since.
Volunteers are needed. If you would like to help with this event please contact Brenda at the Parish Office.

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord. In the 1st reading, Isaiah uses the image of light to speak of God’s glory. The Gospel tells the story of the Magi following the light of a star. Our hymns keep with this theme of light coming into a world of darkness. As the gifts of bread and wine were presented at Mass, we sang We Three Kings of Orient Are and of the gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh they brought to offer the king they sought. At the end of the refrain we sang, “guide us to the perfect Light.” Notice that the L in light is capitalized. Why? We are singing of the Light that is Jesus. Jesus, the Light of the world is our guide today in this world that can often seem dark. Our Meditation hymn, Epiphany Carol, speaks of the radiant light of the star and the implications then and now of that light. “Once again may we discover Word made flesh sent from above in our neighbor, sister, brother, in the lonely and unloved. May we touch him, may we hold him, may we cradle him with care as we learn to love each other bringing hope from out despair.” In verse 4, we ask God to “Gather the world together in the brightness of your day. Fill our hearts with joy forever; help us walk the holy way. May your justice rule the nations; may all people live as one. Now we see our true salvation in the glory of your Son.” Will we, like the Magi, continue to seek the Light bringing Him our gifts. Let’s strive to seek not only Jesus but to seek those who need us to be a light to them. Be like Jesus and be the star that brings light into the life of others. - Michelle

New Year Resolutions We’ve all made our New Year’s resolutions, and
now is the time to begin fulfilling them. Perhaps one of your resolutions was to renew and strengthen your relationship with Jesus and His Church. One way of doing that is to use the talents God has given you by becoming
more active in our parish and its ministries. To discuss where your interests can be best used in our parish family, kindly contact Nancy at the Parish Office. Start the New Year with a gift of You to our Parish!
Thank You All! Many thanks to everyone who donated to our Giving Tree. Because of your generosity 175 gifts were provided to the Crime Victims of Fayette County. These donations helped to provide a Merry Christmas to local children and their families.
