With Bishop Malesic dispensing individuals from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays, it is important that we stay connected with our faith. So that all of us can still keep Holy the Lord’s Day and give some time to Him on His day, we will continue to stream Sunday Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Facebook and YouTube, as well as broadcast on Channel 77 at 10:00 a.m. and WMBS radio at 3:00 p.m. This past weekend we were finally successful broadcasting on Channel 77. There was an issue with the sound quality, but we believe that we have worked it out. In the coming weeks, we are planning to change our live streaming on Facebook and YouTube to Saturday at 4:00 p.m., so that those tuning in can have greater flexibility on gathering at home to join us in the celebration of the Mass, but we are still testing everything out. In closing, please keep Fr. Vincent in your prayers, as he is recovering from having his appendix removed. You won’t be hearing from me in next week’s bulletin, because of the July 4th Holiday, the bulletin deadline is early, and anything I would write might be out of date by the time you get it. God Bless, Fr. Tony

Mass on Sunday, July 12th. In order for us to follow social distancing guidelines, the children and their parents will be the only ones in attendance at this Mass. We are planning to live stream this important moment on Facebook and YouTube. We ask all of our parishioners to keep these children in your prayers as they prepare to receive Jesus.

SAINT JUNÍPERO SERRA (1713-1784)
J 1 No one who has stood before the quiet majesty of Mission San Juan Capistrano, or the altogether different but no less lovely Mission Dolores in San Francisco, or any of the missions from San Diego to
Sonoma can fail to bless the Franciscan padre who, while not founder of each, was inspiration for them all, Saint Junípero Serra. Abandoning the comfortable academic life to which his doctorate in theology entitled him, Serra journeyed to the New World where his tireless traveling, dramatic preaching, and penitential austerity converted thousands of native peoples. Saving souls and celebrating the sacraments were Padre Serra’s primary mission but not his only one. Education in letters and crafts, trades and agriculture transformed the people, while roads and irrigation systems transfigured the landscape. His more than thirty years of ministry were not free from conflict with authorities or without controversy in the retrospectively critical eye of history. But when John Paul II beatified him in 1988, he praised Padre Serra for assisting his converts to use their new faith to advance their true human development. —Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
F S P P : J 29 Veneration of the two great Apostles, Peter and Paul, has its roots in the very foundations of the Church. They are the solid rock on which the Church is built. They are at the origin of her faith and will forever remain her protectors and her guides. To them Rome owes her true greatness, for it was under God's providential guidance that they were led to make the capital of the Empire, sanctified by their martyrdom, the center of the Christian world whence should radiate the preaching of the Gospel. St. Peter suffered martyrdom under Nero, in A.D. 66 or 67. He was buried on the hill of the Vatican where recent excavations have revealed his tomb on the very site of the Basilica of St. Peter's. St. Paul was beheaded in the Via Ostia on the spot where now stands the basilica bearing his name. For centuries Christian people have gone on pilgrimage to the tombs of these Apostles.
