The NBN will eventual service 8 million people via Modems, Cables and ADSL. The government has made many changes since its introduction. At the moment there are 2 million uses but they plan to hit their target on time . Will have Fiber to premises and then the options will be copper wires and cables and some satellites. Not the original plan but still effective. The goal was for everyone to pay much the same regardless oft heir location.

Speed essential as Australia is only number 56 fastest in the world Need speed for Business ( as well as games) Joseph is a Release manager bringing various parts of the NBN personnel together to achieve the appropriate outcomes. Make sure everyone communicates with each other.

Several of our Members are travelling to the Philippines.

Report form pp Walter Bock

With Fellows form our Club, the group includes Gloria [Mrs. Days for Girls Australia from Newcastle] PDG Tony Castley and Sandra are also going. They will meet the founder of Days for Girls Celeste and Don Mergens from Seattle for four days negotiating material supplies from China before flying together to Manila. Also Dennis & Pip from Granville Rotary, Vera from Holroyd Rotary and friend Denise are going. They all meet at Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao’s north, the capital of Misamis Oriental State. They will meet the State Governor Emano before a welcome dinner by the combined Rotary clubs of the capital and district officers. This is followed by a 3 hour bus ride to the hotel in Gingoog expected to be reached after midnight.

They are going to a town of 125,000 people with a hinterland of 300,000 in total, Gingoog City at the north coast of Mindanao, a catholic region. We are going to meet many officials and politicians mainly from the education and health departments to publicise the program and solicit support to spread the project further throughout Mindanao, an island of 22 million people. They will take part in the education on health hygiene, menstruation, reproduction and related matters and the distribution of kits at high and primary school level. There will be very little time for any sightseeing because the visit has attracted attention way above what was envisaged in the beginning. There are likely to be more introductions, speeches and dinners than they can cope with.
