Chapter 1

Blood Ties

I choked myself when I found out that mom was cheating on dad; it was a lovemarriage but how could she do something like that. I thought that love

overcomes anything but I was wrong. It took me six years to admit that maybe

my parents were just lost souls who thought their love was real. I packed my

bags for the first time when I was ten.The only comfort left for me was my dad

and now that seven years have passed I look at myself and I see her in me, I

look like her but my eyes speak a different story. Even when I look like her I see

things like my dad did. I share her colour in me but I seriously hope that I do not

become anything like her. She was supposed to be the story of my life but nowshe is just an unread chapter.

It was cold this time of year in New York. I wore a muffler over my trench coat

and headed out for school. Dad was asusal at his Studio, but I know he thinks

about me. I was about to enter my school when I received a phone call Miss

Hastings. Someone spoke from the other side.

Yes. I replied.

Its your Father; he had a heart attack, we are at the Saint Andrews Hospital.

He spoke.

He had a heart attack. Thats all I could say when I ended the call.

Fleur why are you so starstruck? my best friend Danielle asked while she

grabbed my arm.

When we reached the hospital I saw my dads assistantCamille. How is he? I

asked.

The doctors has not said anything yet; it was a shock he was shooting at the

time and then suddendly he fell. Camille stated.

Lets hope everythings all right. Danielle spoke while she sat with me.

It already had been two hours now Who are you texting? I asked Danielle.

Its Tyler; he was asking where I was. Danielle answered. Tyler was Danielles older brother. I had known them for six years and they

were practically family now.

Hes coming; hes around the corner. Danielle spoke out and got up to get a

cup of coffee.

I just nodded and pushed my head against the wall. If something happened to

dad what would I do? I kept wondering but still kept hoping for the best.

Hey there, How is he? Tyler asked while he sat next to me.

They have notsaid anything yet. I exclaimed.

How about you? he asked.

I am doing fine I guess; I just hope everythings fine. I confessed what I felt.

Where is Danielle? he questioned.

She went to get herself a cup of coffee. I registered to him.

You want to eat something? You look pale. Should I get you something? he

asked but the doctor came out at the exact moment.

I got up and rushed towards the doctor How is he? I asked.

I am sorry Miss Hastings; we did everything we could. The doctor spoke out

remorsefully.

The moment his words came out my world fell into abyss, I could not breathe

Fluer get a hold of yourself. I heard Tyler while he grabbed me, I was hyper-ventilating.

All I could do was scream, and I screamed till I could not feel my voice anymore

I couldnt control my tears anymore This must be a mistake. I kept thinking it

must be mistake.

Nurse, please get the injection, she needs to calm down. I heard the doctor.

I have to see him, he would notleave me like this. I kept screaming and crying.Tyler kept pushing me towards the wall but I could not stop myself, I had to see

him and I saw one of the nurses walk towards me.

No please; not now, I am begging you. I kept saying it.

I am sorry Fleur but its for your own good. Thats all I heard, I saw the

blindess sink in.

The next time I woke up I saw Danielle and Tyler sleeping on the couch, I got up

and I tried to walk out but I could not feel my legs. Still I got myself to reach the

door knob You should not be like this. I heard Tyler walk behind me.

My father just died, what faade do you want me to put up? I said frantically.

Get a hold of yourself, the more you act like this they wont let you see him.

He recommended while he helped me back to the bed.

I have to see him; I think I cant breathe if I do not see him. I spoke out my

fears, and tears covered my face.

I called my parents; they are doing the funeral arrangements, they will

discharge you anytime so just stay calm. I am truly sorry for your loss. He

hugged me tightly.

I am thirsty. I said while I wiped out my tears.

Could you make them to hurry up with the discharge papers? I asked him.

I will try, you wait here. He woke Danielle up and went out.

I am so sorry. Danielle stated while she hugged me so tight that I felt I

couldnt breathe.

After twenty minutes Tyler brought my discharge papers and I got dressed.

We are going to our house. Tyler stated while he opened the car door.

I looked at Danielle and she preferred what Tyler said.

It was in the evening and I looked down at my fathers grave. I never thoughtthat I would say goodbye to him like this. I did not even see him the day before.

All I could remember was his smile, the way he looked at me like I was his

precious dream.

But to me he was my whole life, and now the air I was breathing in felt like a

fantasy, like I never existed in this world, I was never meant to stand out here.

He was my everything and how could I stand here without him. Everything fellapart in a split second. I felt the wind touch my face and move my tears away.

We should go. Danielle grabbed my arm and I looked at his grave for the last

time but this time I did not spill a tear.

I could not sleep that night and I could not sleep the rest of nights either. My

stark white face got pale and pale day by day. I had to meet dads lawyer today.

It was regarding his will.

I did not feel like brushing my hair or changing my clothes, did not feel like

doing anything.

I will brush you hair for you. Danielle stated while she got up.

I just nodded. I was surprisingly quiet now, I used to speak nonsence but now I

could not get myself to smile even if it was a hilarious joke.

Fleur lets go if you have eaten your breakfast. I heard Danielles mom Abigail.

Yes I have eaten; lets go. I got up and headed outside.

But you have not eaten anything. Abigail exclaimed.

I am not hungry surprisingly. I affirmed out while I sat in the car.

When we reached dads lawyers office we waited for a while and then Mr.

Mark asked me to come in.

will he left out his inheritance to his only daughter Anamaria Jaonn Hastings

and his niece Fleur Diane Hastings.

I walked into the room and thought about what the lawyer just told me. I was

grabbing my hair now. This is all so abrupt.

I thought of leaving this place and start new, as dad left me with some money

so I could start fresh anywhere I wanted.

My life seemed fake enough already I did not need a substantiation to provethat it was.

I planned to pack my bags first thing tomorrow morning and get myself tickets

for Florida or anywhere else. This place was a havoc for me now.

Chapter 2

Strange Visit

I slept after so many nights. When I woke up I took a shower and got dressed

for once. And packed my stuff I had at Danielles.

When I got down I poured myself a bowl of cerreal, I saw Tyler walk in Are you

ready? he questioned while he poured his own cereal.

I am almost done. I answered while I checked my cell phone.

Tell Danielle that I will call her tomorrow, I have somethings to do at home. I

told Tyler while I grabbed my bag.

Are you sure you will be fine? he asked in a fretful tone.

My house has a security system. Plus if anything happens incase it happens I

will call you guys. I declared.

Do not forget the cops. He was mocking me now.

I just smiled and shut the door.When I reached the door I hesitated for a while

but then I just entered.

I looked at all the photograghs he took,all his collections. I do not remember

having any aunt from either sides.

To me he was my only family, and now the thought that he was not my father

scared me. Maybe I needed to know the truth, but it felt like I could not handle

it.

I decided to pack all my things. Dad had an apartment in Los Angeles, I booked

myself a one way ticket.

I will dissappear before she comes, she did not bother to talk to me for 17 years so

I should not wait around for her.

I cleaned around the house and packed away dads all stuff, it did not feel right

to throw it away. I packed up all my things and planned to make pasta formyself . My whole life was spent in this house and now leaving it behind did not

sound right but I had to leave.

I still cried at the thought that somedays ago dad was around the house

helping me with the chores. He loved me so much that he did not even get

remarried.

I was about to wear my trenchcoat; the flight was in three hours, I was already

running late and my doorbell rang. I did not bother to check who it was maybeit was the trash collector so I opened the door.

Hello Fleur. An unfamiliar voice spoke out my name.

Huh. I looked up.

Umm; actually I do not think I recognize you, I am in a rush so I cant invite you

My feet froze right there. She did have a little resemblance with dad. I did not

feel like turning around but my body did.

I guess you already had the talk with the lawyer, but let me explain

proposed nonchalantly.

It was evening when we reached the Palace and it was everything you would

imagine. Buckingham palace was far the most beautiful place I had ever seen.

You would be taken to your chambers shortly after the meal. My mother toldme.

When I entered my room, it was gigantic. Everything that a girl would desire for

- everything. I kept feeling that it was not mine. It will never be mine. I need to

remember that none of this is me. I have lived too long in the shadows and it is

Buckingham palace was like eating pancakes now.

I changed my clothes and headed outside. I walked around the yard and then I

I was absentmindly walking and accidently entered somebody elses room. I

The things I know right now, are enough to make me go crazy. I do not desire

Decisions

I could not sleep the whole night. The breakfast was brought into my room. Allmy hunger dissapeared like thin air. If it was not for him I would have been out

of this mess.

I looked around the room before getting out of the bed. I decided to go for the

morning walk, planning to see him. I wanted to know why he stopped me from

going, even when he was regretting it.

I looked towards the Palace and it felt unreal. The more I look back the more I

hate her. Even I know that the damage caused was by collateral sides, but I stilldo not understand why they would switch. I feel like someone punctured a

whole into my heart. I have a family and still I do not have one.

What are you doing here, you should be getting ready. I heard his voice.

I did not feel like getting ready. I replied back.Why did you stop me

yesterday? I questioned quickly.

If it was somebody else doing this, I would have still stopped them too. Hereplied while walking away.

Why were you regretting it? I looked towards Prince Edward who was walking

Edward walked towards me and we headed towards the stage.

I am not engaged. I pulled out the ring and handed over, I saw James standing

by his car.

I walked toward him. Give me the car keys. He passed them over.

James - stop her. Edward yelled but they were too late. I ignited the engine.

I did not have any clue about what I was going to do, but for the record I knew

I could not go back to the palace. It seemed like I had no option. They will look

for me everywhere but they will never check whether I returned to the palace or

not.

I parked the car and headed inside, and I wanted to be discreate but my dress

did not do me any favors. I entered my room and packed the few things I

unpacked earliar. I grabbed my passport and decided to change the dress at

the station.

Lady Fleur. A maid called out my name. What are you doing? she questioned.

Would you help me with these? I have to give these things away. I made out a

lame excuse hoping she would understand.

Yes, Your Lady. She grabbed the stuff and helped me put into the car.

Soon. I smiled while I knew deep inside that it was a lie. Never wanted to

return here. It seems sweet and everything else but I would not live like this. I

cannot be dependant on her.

I drived towards the Heathrow airport after booking the tickets to L.A., headed

straight to the rest room and changed my clothes. Wore Bulvgari shades and a

hat to disguise. To my luck the earliest flight to L.A was in 10 minutes. All I had

to was board the plane and everything will seem like a dream later.

Your Boarding pass. The Air hostess asked.

Smiling happily I boarded the plane. Only two minutes and than you will neverreturn here. Luckily I got the window seat and the airport looked awesome.

Passengers please fasten your seatbelts and switch off your cellphones. The

air hostess continued.

Excuse me maam, would you please show me your passport. Another air

hostess asked.

Why? Is their a problem. I was about to hand over the passport. Edward

snatched it away while I was still in shock.

When did he get here?

Thank you. He looked at the air hostess and grabbed my arm and unboarded

the plane.

Goodbye for now. Took off my shoes and started to run barefoot.

Mighty Mouth

I looked around the room in search for my cell. Edward was sleeping as it wasfour in the morning. I share a room with him and everything else. In front of
